Copley Square

560 Boylston St, Boston, USA, 02116

The basics

A center of Boston life since the late 1800s, Copley Square is home to many of the city’s landmarks. It houses the Romanesque-style Trinity Church, and is surrounded by other signatures including the Old South Church, Boston Public Library, and soaring John Hancock Tower.

Visit independently to enjoy the square and its attractions as you wish. Or, for ease of transport and added insight, book one of the many Boston tours that stop at the square. Join a walking tour that covers it and attractions such as the Freedom Trail; discover it on a bike tour of Boston’s parks; or see it from a pedicab. Alternatively, visit on a hop-on hop-off trolley tour, private tour, day trip from New York, or multi-day tour around the USA’s east coast.

Learned so much!
We started at the State House and immediately I was learning so many things about the history of Boston. The walk was pretty mild and you don't have to get far for a new, good story because, well, Boston. Our guide was SO nice. He was a Boston local and was so sweet! We had lots of questions and he knew the answers to every single one and always had a great joke up his sleeve. Boston has so much really neat history that you would never know unless someone told you, and that's exactly what we wanted this tour to do for us. It delivered!

Walking Tour: Downtown Freedom Trail plus Beacon Hill to Copley Square/Back Bay
Good tour. Informative and friendly. It was challenging to hear the guide in some spots because of the noise around us. He had great recommendations for a place to get hot chocolate and have lunch after the tour. Would recommend.

Guided Walking Tour of Copley Square to Downtown Boston Freedom Trail
The information about the building architecture was helpful. Also, the guide agreed to go to Acorn St. and Louisburg Sq. which was a bit off the beaten path in back of Beacon Street which was very interesting.

Guided Walking Tour of Copley Square to Downtown Boston Freedom Trail
Any tour is only as good as the guide and we certainly struck gold with Alan. He was personal, witty, and informative. Not only was he well versed on the traditional Boston landmarks, but he was equally informative about any Boston-related question that you could throw his way. I would highly recommend this tour for the Boston newbies and for anyone who wants to be able to go in greater depth about Boston geography, politics, archeology, and history.
