If your looking for something different to do other than Daintree and GBR tours AND you're interested in locally sourced food, then this tour is for you. Warwick picked us up in Palm Cove bright and early at 7am. There were 13 people in our tour. He made it interesting narrating on the drive through Kurandaeven though most of us were still half asleep.
Lots of sights and stops to see. Morning tea which included scones and drip coffee. The coffee was a surprise, it was the first drip coffee we've seen in Australia. Not bad but not great. The cheese and chocolate stop was quite good. Also enjoyed the macadamia nut farm. Lunch was local salmon, garlic bread, salad and fruit. We visited a fruit winery which was the only stop that we could've done without. The last stop at Jacques coffee was excellent.
Warwick drove us through the tablelands sights like the curtain fig tree one of my favorites, lookout points, seven sisters, sizable termite mounds, and lots of farmland. It was a long day, we got back about 5p. Well worth the time. Cudos to the Atherton Tablelands Food and Wine Tour for a unique and enjoyable time!
Recommend this trip! Paul was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. He remembered everyone's name throughout the whole trip. Small sized tour which was helpful for the wildlife sightings. Was able to see a lot of wallabies and possums but also a tree kangaroo family, a gecko, and even a platypus. Tea/snacks were nice and the dinner was great. Just a heads up for those that may suffer from motion sickness the road up to the tablelands consists of many curves.
This tour was the highlight of my trip to Cairns. Our guide Paul was passionate and knowledgeable about the Tablelands rainforest and provided very personalised glimpses into the wildlife of the forest. Our twilight experience viewing a platypus in a forest pool was magical. Dinner at Nick's cafe was delicious and this was followed by a unique experience spotlighting nocturnal mammals. We were lucky to see several varieties of possums and bandicoots and experience the beauty of the forest after dark. Would recommend this ecotour to all who value the wonders of the rainforest.
The tour was cool. Our guide was funny. He took us to multiple falls in a van ... to swim, and took nice photos through the whole journey. Lunch self-paid in a small town was nice but morning tea and afternoon tea was not as good. The guide boiled water for us to make coffee and tea but the water itself was brown like carrying mud in it. It's recommended to bring your own water. The guide also brought TimTam and taught us the TimTam slam. It was fun.
The view in Atherton Tablelands is great, however driving there is not easy for non-locals. It takes more than 1 hour just driving the zigzag mountain roads. So taking a tour would be a good choice for most people. This tour is more like youth tours recommended to people under 25 or with a heart under 25. I'm sure there're many other nice tours to grown-ups.
Double consider if you're not a good swimmer, 'cause the fun is highly involved with deep water activities.
Nice tour overall! I will recommend it to friends definitely.
