Our tour guide Luigi was very knowledgeable , reliable and professional, throughout the day, particularly about Mount Etna and its well worth the visit, we were lucky as the weather was perfect and we walked up the side of one crater and saw amazing views. We were lucky to have a great guide and nothing was too much so we were free to take our time and relax. We could not have planned the day more perfectly.
Taormina was excellent, making a great end to the day. Would highly recommend.

Guide - Marco “Simply the Best Better than all the Rest” A real gem!
, Jan 2020
Marco picked us up from our Catania accommodation he provided two water bottles which we were so appreciative of plus he gave us a bag of oranges from his tree (unfortunately my husband left them behind husband was told off!) such a beautiful gesture. First stop was Savoca - Marco’s knowledge of the Godfather movies was outstanding, along the way he provided excerpts from the movie showing the scenes from Bar Vitelli and the church where Michael and Apollonia were married. We went inside this beautiful Chiesa - and we actually felt like we were part of the movie when we walked back down towards Bar Vitelli . Marco also provided really interesting information about the actress who portrayed Apollonia and Francis Ford Coppola. We stopped at Bar Vitelli (Savoca) for a coffee and the most delicious Italian sweet treat of a ricotta filled cannula shell which originated on the island of Sicily. Forza d Agro was next and Marco took us to the square beside the church where a significant part of movie took place whereby Michael Corleone was hidden inside a pack on the donkey. Marco then asked if we would like to walk to the highest point in Forza d Agro up these beautiful old, winding cobblestones streets that had amazing old Italian small villas some abandoned, some restored. The view when we reached the top was outstanding there was also a very ancient Roman castle built around 1117. Marco also provided lots of information about Taormina. We would love to come back during the spring. We really felt we knew Marco and his family, his mama and her cooking sounds amazing. To sum up Marco deserves a pay rise he is AWESOME!! Con amore Adriena & Craig Smith
This is a good tour even if you are not a "Godfather" fanatic. You drive into the mountains and see what "small town" life is like . There are magnificent views everywhere . Tour included a nice lunch at a local resturant where many families were having Sunday dinner
Bruno our guide was fun not to mention A wonderful guide! He explained and showed us everything possible! We also stopped for a delicious lunch that was all farm fresh and fresh caught fish! Highly recommend this tour and especially ask for Bruno as your guide!

Beautiful views from the top of an old crater high up on Etna of surrounding Catania, and the sea. Sampling some of the fruits of Etna (definitely recommend the wine)! The best part however was our guide who was both knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Erminia our guide was excellent from her first communication to us to the end of the trip. She was extremely knowledgable and gave us a running commentary throughout the trip coping with English and German seamlessly. The trip was great we stopped at a honey farm and were able to taste and purchase wine, pesto, olives and honey. We then moved onto a lava cave which we explored then onto Etna and trekked up two of the craters. Throughout the trip Erminia gave us information about the area and astounded us with the beauty of the place. I would thoroughly recommend this trip. The view from the top was worth the trek and the view at sunset was breathtaking.

Mt. Etnea excursion
, Oct 2019
Wonderful trip. Salvo was excellent driver and guide. Well organized except for notification of pick up time. Did not receive until 10 minutes before pick up. Even if you are not physically capable of climbing to vista, the trip is well worth it. Off road adventure was great fun. Salvo made the trip fantastic.

Armando did a great job of getting us up and down the narrow streets and sharing life in Sicily as well as historic sites.
Taormina is a nice little town with a Roman amphitheater and plenty of tourist shops and cafes.
Castlemole had a nice view, but not really much else up there to do.
We had a wonderful driver named Armando!! Best driver...even in a crazy downpour. Took us where we wanted to go and explained so much along the way as well. Gave us the time we wanted and never rushed us.. wanted us to enjoy the day....and we did! I recommend him highly and had a beautiful day in Sicily!,
Our tour of Taormina and Castelmola took our breath away. Our driver/guide Alex was wonderful. He got us to sights along the way and gave us great recommendations on where to go when we were on our own in both towns and also had a bonus stop in Messina. I would highly recomend this small group private tour.
The historic towns of Taormina and Castelmola are two of the most scenic in eastern Sicily, and with this tour you can visit both without the hassle of public transportation or the stress of navigating the island’s twisting roads. Take in the highlights of Taormina at your own pace and relax over lunch, then head to Castelmola to enjoy the sweeping views over the coastline from its medieval center.
The volcanic landscapes around Mt. Etna draw travelers from far and wide, but reaching the highest peaks can be a challenge. Delve into a lava cave with a guide, marvel at Italy’s volcanic landscape from the Rifugio Sapienza, and explore the Alcantara Gorges—home to lava formations shaped over millions of years.
Delve into ancient Roman and Greek history on a visit to both Neapolis Archaeological Park and Ortygia Island in Syracuse. Neapolis is home to some of Syracuse's most notable ruins, including a massive Greek amphitheater that is still used for performances during the summer months. Marvel at age-old quarries and a Roman amphitheater where gladiators fought each other to the death. Afterward, head over to Ortygia Island―a small island that serves as Syracuse's historic center―and nearby Noto, a stunning town filled with exquisite, photo-worthy baroque architecture.

A fantastic day with our driver Manuel
, Oct 2019
We had a wonderful tour of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Manuel was a wonderful driver and guide. He could not do enough for us. The temples were amazing and are a must see. A private tour is the best way to do this. Thoroughly recommended.
Sicily is home to some of the most spectacular Greek and Roman archaeological sites in Italy, but visiting on your own means navigating the island’s confusing rural roads. With this tour, reach Villa Romana Del Casale in Piazza Armerina and the Valley of Temples in Agrigento with a private driver for a stress-free jaunt through ancient history, taking in these remarkable ruins at your own pace.
Every detail was magnificent - our guide was on time and showed such a passion for sharing information during the van ride and up on the crater trail. She took quite some time explaining the geologic process that forms the crater. We laughed with her over lunch, with the sandwich and the WINE being just the perfect compliment to her fellowship. Then she allowed us to sleep some of the wine off during our drive to Taormina. The rest of the free time was adequate to view this city. For the visitor who wants a “moderate” hike with an urban ending, this is the perfect trip.

Oh my gosh, this was stunning, beautiful and transformative. Pierpaolo was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was patient with us as we meandered at our own pace. The mountain itself is stunning, and seems like it holds multiple ecosystems depending on your elevation. It was definitely a major highlight for my trip to Sicily.
The Etna Tour excursion involves traveling on jeep routes to let you know and appreciate places of particular natural value within the Etna Park reserve up to an altitude of about 2000 meters. The itineraries are in fact formulated, thanks to the experience of our staff, to live an interesting and at the same time enjoyable experience. Starting from the lava flows that have threatened entire villages, we will visit the extinct craters and the belvedere of the majestic Caldera del Valle del Bove . We will also let you experience the thrill of descending into the meanders of the volcano by visiting a lava flow cave (lava tube) equipped with a helmet and speleologist lights, to understand the phenomena connected to the lava flow. Our naturalistic guides will enrich your excursion by illustrating, with a simple and clear language for everyone, the innumerable natural and volcanic aspects of Europe's largest volcano, named UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.

To be clear, this rating should have been a 5 (Excellent), and really was a "5" for the Tour Company & Guide (Taxi Catania NCC), but Viator messed up royally by failing to communicate properly between the Tour Company and me (the user). As a result, when we got to the meeting point at the port exit, we found no tour guide, and after waiting for an extra 30 minutes, I finally called the Tour Company to find that he had no confirmation from Viator that we were coming, and was not expecting us. He recovered quickly and arrived within 30 minutes and the tour got under way. Initially there was a great deal of tension and consternation in the air, but once we put that aside, we had a great tour, with an up-close view of Mt Etna, a fantastic lunch and wine tasting at a local winery, and a stop at Taormina. We got to do everything we had expected and learned a lot from Giuseppe despite the "rough start".
To specifically address the lack of communication and verification on Viator's part, this tour was booked and paid for in April, 2019 for a November tour date. Despite multiple attempts by the tour company to send messages to me through Viator, nothing ever reached me. In retrospect, I should have checked myself, but I assumed that a confirmed and paid tour would receive better Customer Service from Viator. I received routed communications from other tour companies through Viator on this cruise, but in this case, the tour was almost a disaster because Viator dropped the ball and failed to pass on communication requests. Really dinged my confidence in Viator's ability to deliver as promised.
Our tour guide Giuseppe was very knowledgeable throughout the day, particularly about Mount Etna and its well worth the visit. We walked up the side of one crater and saw amazing views. We also visited a winery Gambino where the food and wine flowed and was the highlight of the day. We were lucky to have a great guide and nothing was too much so we were free to take our time and relax.
Mt. Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe and home to fertile vineyards and farms. With this tour, avoid the stress of navigating the winding roads on the mountain on your own and instead visit the dramatic Silvestri Craters and a farm on the slopes of Mt. Etna with a driver. End your experience with a tasting and lunch at a local winery at the foot of the mountain.
Venture to the highest viewpoint of the Mount Etna volcano with this tour from Catania. Leave the navigating to your driver and admire the Sicilian towns of Pedara and Nicolosi plus the cold lava fields on your way to the cable car that rises to an altitude of 2500 meters. Continue the adventure with special vehicles that offer access to 2900 meters, at the foot of the main crater. Explore the smoking craters and enjoy a classic Sicilian lunch before traveling back to Catania.

Your first stop is medieval Savoca and its Bar Vitelli, where scenes from The Godfather were filmed. Gioele was great . Very knowledgeable. The food and wine tasting was delicious . Valley of the temples as I imagined it would be . Such a shame the two Heads that I wanted to photograph near the temples had been removed and taken elsewhere . This has nothing to do with the tour operaters . Highly reccomend Sicilly Day by Day
A long but fantastic journey! A must if you don't have a car!
