This was a great tour of Dubrovnik. Went on a cable ride to Mt Srd. Bird eye view of Dubrovnik. Your guide Tea was excellent.

What a gem you have in Katy. Her very positive outlook on life and history was extremely refreshing and heartfelt. Her knowledge of your country’s history, both ancient and recent past was unbelievable. We truly enjoyed our walking tour and learned a lot about the rich history of the town. Our tour guide, Josip was superb! He was very helpful and patient with us as we needed to catch our breaths climbing the walls. Definitely book this tour when you visit Dubrovnik!

There are many steep steps to climb and not for people who are not fully fit Gets very hot up there so bring water and dress accordingly

Combo Tour - Old Town & City Walls

I cannot say enough to express how fantastic this tour was. Jelena was knowledgeable, lively, candid and engaging. It was great to spend a couple hours with someone who grew up in Dubrovnik and had a comprehensive knowledge of both history and culture. You will not be disappointed with this tour! Do plan for numerous steps and do it early in the day to avoid crowds.

Ancient City Walls & Wars Walking Tour

The tour was an excellent overview of the history of Dubrovnik of which it's fortifications played a key role. Davor was an informative if slightly humourless guide. Only slight bureaucratic downside was having to buy the city walls access ticket once the tour got underway, appreciate it was flagged at the point of booking but would be better if the tour cost was increased to accommodate the city walls ticket and you would not then have to queue to buy a ticket once it had begun.

Very good and informative tour. Goran was very knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed his work! One thing to note is that you need to purchase your tickets for the City walls separately (preferably before you start the tour). It adds another 35 euro each to the tour but its still worth it.

Our guide Kate gave our intimate group of 6 adults a relevant history lesson of Croatia and included her first hand experience in the 1991 War of Independence as we took the cable car ride and walked through old town Dubrovnik. Highly recommended.

Dubrovnik City Walls Sunset Guided Tour

Beautiful sights across the old town & surrounding areas, and everything was expertly explained by our guide (Desa?). Great time of day to see the old town. Minor comment - make the meeting place & instructions more explicit as there’s nothing on Viator and, with loads of guides & tours at Pile gate, we held up our tour by 15 mins while finding our guide. Didn’t spoil the experience though!

Things to Know Before You Go

There is a one-way (counterclockwise) system operating on the walls, so once you start walking, you must continue until the next exit point.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water in summer, as there is little shade atop the walls.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Due to the many steps and uneven ground, the walls are not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

Dubrovnik’s ancient city walls encircle Old Town and are reachable on foot from anywhere in the city’s historic center. The walls’ main entrance is at the Pile Gate on the western wall, but you can also enter from the Minceta Tower in the north and the Ploce Gate in the east.

Walking the Dubrovnik City Walls

The best way to experience the walls of Dubrovnik is to hike the 1.2-mile (2-kilometer) circular route, which loops around all of Old Town. Start by climbing up to the ramparts above the Pile Gate, pass the Minceta Tower and Fort Lovrijenac (one of several Game of Thrones filming locations in Dubrovnik), and then continue to the Ploce Gate and around the Old City Harbor. Along the way, enjoy spectacular ocean views and admire landmarks including the Dominican Monastery, Revelin Fortress, Mount Srd, and 15th-century Bokar Fortress.
