Step into the weird and wacky world of one of Edinburgh’s most unique attractions - Camera Obscura and World of Illusions! Entertaining visitors since it opened back in 1835, the World of Illusions is crammed full of interactive exhibits, puzzles, mind-bending displays and hands-on activities, each sure to challenge your perceptions and leave your mind spinning.
Tackle the Mirror Maze and Vortex Tunnel; shrink like Alice in Wonderland in the Ames Room; play with optical illusions, giant kaleidoscopes and pinhole cameras; and learn all there is to know about holography. Finally, don’t miss a chance to spy on the city streets from the Camera Obscura, a live moving panorama of the city, and enjoy 360° views over Edinburgh from the high-power telescopes.
Camera Obscura and World of Illusions is located at the top of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s Old Town, close to Edinburgh Castle, and is open daily from 9.30am to 6pm (or 9pm in summer). Admission is £14.50 for adults and £10.50 for children under 16.
