Madeira Dolphin and Whale Watching on a Luxurious Catamaran
Nice crew with a lot of knowledge
, Jan 2020
We only saw the fins of some pilot whales in the distance, but as a biologist I must say: That’s nature for you.
The crew war very relaxed, showed us some interesting sites at the south coast and gave valuable informations.
I can recommend that experience!
Bask in the sun and sea of Cabo Girão, one of the world’s tallest oceanside cliffs, on this romantic catamaran excursion departing from the Funchal Marina. After boarding, find a nice spot on the deck for spotting whales and dolphins, and then strap on your complimentary goggles and mask while you look for sea life beneath the surface.
There were 7 stops in Funchal which gave You a good overview of the food and the old town. We could sit down at set tables at most of the venues, including 2 restaurants, a bar, a tea house, a chocolaterie, a winery and a bakery. Plenty of good food and a lot of information by the tour guide. We enjoyed it very much. It was worth every penny,
Our first introduction to Madeiran food and we're now hooked!
We loved the tour, the food was exceptional and we followed lots of the hints and tips we picked up that morning. Not only was the food and drink wonderful, but we also got our bearings around Funchal.
Thanks so much, we'll definitely be back to Madeira, and we'd highly recommend this tour to anyone , it was superb.
Taste your way around Madeira on this food on foot walking tour. You won’t have to worry about language barriers as you’ll have a guide to translate and order for you. Save time researching and planning your trip by having a guide to show you around. You’ll make the most of your day by visiting seven different places and tasting local specialities. Conveniently, all food and drink is included.
We bought the 3 in 1, 48 hour pass and enjoyed the tours of Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Cabo Girão. However, the commentary is recorded and was out of sync with where we were on the tour. This made it hard to follow and we felt there could have been more information given rather than the music played between stops. It was better in the route to Câmara de Lobos but the one to Cabo Girão kept slowing and speeding up. All in all, good to get ones bearings but pleased we didn't opt for the longer option as the service bus was much cheaper.
A hop-on hop-off bus tour is the ideal way to combine the flexibility of independent sightseeing with the convenience of a guided tour. With a choice of a 48-hour or 5-day ticket, this great-value deal offers full access to three routes—the highlights of Funchal, the village of Câmara de Lobos, and the Skywalk of Cabo Girão.
Funchal’s waters are home to whales and dolphins—and this luxurious catamaran tour offers the best way to spot them. Head to Funchal’s marina and hop aboard your vessel, where you’ll enjoy Champagne, cocktails, soft drinks, and snacks like local bread and cheese. Indulge as you look out for whales and dolphins. Then, if you wish, enjoy a swimming and snorkeling break at Cabo Girao before returning to shore.
Customize your own sightseeing itinerary on a private 5-hour jeep tour of Madeira. Depending on your preferences, you’ll explore the east or west side of the island in a 4x4 vehicle while receiving undivided attention from a private guide. Opt to discover Pico do Areiro and the Valley of the Nuns (Curral das Freiras) in the east, or ascend to Cabo Girão, Europe’s highest sea cliff, and Câmara de Lobos, home to a colony of monk seals, during a tour of the west. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

A great, fun morning
, Jan 2020
Excellent package tour between activities and a very exciting drive along valley and coast roads. A great way to see a chunk of Madeira without a car
Tony was a great guide and really went out of his way repeatedly to make sure our party would enjoy everything. He is a very attentive and entertaining person !
I would highly recommend this activity for persons of any age and interests visiting Madeira.

Our tukxi driver was terrific. He allowed us design our own tour and made recommendations of changes that might be better. Then we traveled at our own pace going as fast or slow as we wanted. It was a great day!

We take our time and personalise the experience according to the day, the weather and group dynamic and we are very attentive to our clients photography needs.
Nobody regrets booking with us.
This turned out to be one of the best tours of our journey. We were fortunate enough to be escorted around by the Owner of the company, Duarte and his English speaking interpreter, Osilva. We learned a lot about Funchal and areas of Portugal that one would not given that the owner was a journalist. We visited beautiful places all over the island. The guides took pictures of us ever where to send so that we could just enjoy the sites. We experienced a small family owned winery, which was amazing. We were there for the wine specially made by the owner for Veteran's Day - What a treat! I highly recommend this tour!
Thank you Durate and Osiliva for being such gracious hosts and for sharing the love of your island!
We visited Funchal, Madiera while on a cruise. From the moment our ship docked and I looked out at the island, I was enthralled. Our guide met us with no problem and was VERY friendly. The first stop was at the church and memorial of the last emperor of Austrio-Hungary and is buried there in Funchal. It's the same stop as the famous toboggan ride which we did not do. And then onward. We were able to see sites from both the north side and the south side of Funchal and our guide, Ricardo was very informative. He gave us info on the history, geography, economy, etc of the region. He also was very helpful and friendly. I think our favorite stop was on the north side of the island where we saw the lava pools and the beautiful huge rocks in the water with the waves crashing down around them. It was stunning! And then the lunch. Ricardo took us to a small restaurant where many of the locals were dining (the place was booked) and the food was absolutely delicious.
The concern is always getting back to the ship on time and in Funchal, the stop was a little shorter. However, Ricardo made sure that we were able to see the highlights of his beautiful island, eat a terrific lunch and be back to the ship in plenty of time. Pearl of the Atlantic Day Tours was such an easy tour company to work with and they did an excellent job of showing us a part of their world.
Thank you Marco for arranging this tour for us and thank you Ricardo for delivering!!!
We had an excellant day with Marco. He was both a great driver and guide, sharing with us a variety of details about his island, and various traditions/ legends, etc. He was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and flexible in meeting our various needs - including managing the car and natural air conditioning. Would certainly recommend him and the tour.

Amazing Skywalk, Cliff and Valleys in Open Roof 4x4 Tour
Great way to see an area with skilled drivers
, Feb 2020
A very skilled and fun driver (Ruiz/ also nicknamed “penguin”) took us around a very picturesque area. He had a fantastic sense of humour and within 5 minutes the whole group was bonding over a good banter.
4 by 4 really helps around Madeira as Ruiz was skilfully climbing steep medeiran roads with a remarkable skill.
The route takes you to pretty areas and is not too short or not too long.
Our only point of improvement would be making the winery more involved during the visit. I don’t think this is true spirit’s fault but rather the way the winery is run. This has not taken away from how fantastic this tour was.
I highly recommend and thank you Ruiz again for giving it your all on our tour.
Dorota and Kieran

Thatched houses are remnants of primitive buildings made of wood and thatch. The use of these materials, namely wood, is due to their abundance and, at the time, they are easy to purchase and inexpensive. The cultivation of cereals, such as wheat and rye, in addition to providing sustenance to the population through the production of flour, allowed the use of straw (thatch) to cover the housing.
We are going to visit some of the houses and discover their history and experience how the Madeiran people used to live before. We will visit a house with more than 240 years, plus we will see different models of houses. We partnered with the Ethnographic Museum of the Typical House of Madeira in the Queimadas park where we will visit the interior. we will also have a look at our ancient forest, the Laurissilva. , the beautiful UNESCO heritage, where we can see old laurel trees, a lake and hear the birds around the natural park.
Get to know the city through the eyes of a passionate local. With no set itinerary, you can customize the tour or leave it up to the local for an insightful introduction to the city. Since Lokafyers are not professional guides and tour occasionally, they provide an experience that’s authentic and personal, like a friend showing you around their city. Pico Arieiro "FlowerEAST" Santana Full Day 4x4 Safari Small Group Tour
, Dec 2019
Ricardo our driver/guide picked us up, right on time, just 10 minutes away from our cruiseship. With 6 other people from Britain, France and Latvia we started the tour. So we had a real European get together. Although we made several tours on Madeira, this tour is one of a totally different kind. Though we were a bit unlucky with the weather in the morning we had a lot of fun. We tried to make it to the top of Madeira's highest mountain, we did not make it because of the heavy clouds and the rain. But Ricardo offered us a very nice alternative. It really is fun to get off the beaten path and you can see that Ricardo know Madeira like his thumb. We saw so many nice and beautiful spots, too much to mention. We tasted local fruits and spices and herbs right from the spot were they grow.
We also tasted a local drink with honey and alcohol in a lokal cafe. The lunch was very nice also (only 11 Euro"s) with meat on a skewer which is a real Madeira specialty. We can recommend Ricardo and this tour very much
Explore the wild and rural side of East Madeira by going on an exhilarating 4x4 tour. You won’t have to worry about your trip being overcrowded as you’ll be traveling in a small group. "Enjoy the famous vineyards at São Vicente, the amazing skywalk at Cabo Girão and the beauty of Madeira’s Sea on board of a catamaran"

Then, you will have an unforgettable experience with the main wine producers in Madeira, followed by a guided tour through the largest vineyards along with a wine tasting (1 rose, 2 white, 2 red) and a professional explanation about traditions, wine culture and wine production. From this fabulous experience, we will continue our tour to Cabo Girão, the highest cliff in Europe and second in the World (589 meters), known by its suspended glass floor viewpoint, which offers a spectacular panoramic view over the Atlantic, Câmara de Lobos and Funchal.
After Jeep tour, you will be dropped off at the Harbor to start the Dolphin Watching Tour (free time to lunch)

Easy operation. Picked up outside cruise terminal and back on time.
Small group. Only 8 people.
Breathtaking beauty. Knowledgeable guide who is a native.
Free time all along the way.
Advice on where to eat, where to shop.
Highly recommend. Same tour as offered on the cruise except this had 8 people and the ship had a big buss full. With a big bus you only move as fast as the slowest person and have as good a time as the most miserable person on the bus. We 8 people were much happier than the big buss tour.
We had a wonderful all day tour with Renato. We saw a large part of Madeira beginning in the port of Funchal and ending with a taste of poncha at the Taberna Poncha before heading back to the port. Renato was a wonderful guide. His knowledge of life on Madeira, agriculture, and overall history was very insightful and entertaining. Thanks again for making our day so memorable!
Experience the west of the beautiful island of Madeira with friendly and professional tour guides.
On this 8 hour tour we take you to simply fantastic and unique places in the world.
This excursion is almost mandatory when you visit Madeira Island. It's really worth it.
Discover the abundant marine life near Madeira on this fast-paced dolphin and whale watching tour. You won’t have to worry about wasting time traveling, as you’ll whizz through the water on a speedboat, and cover large distances. Look out for dolphins and whales, while enjoying guide commentary. If you don’t spot any sea life, you’ll get another free trip. You’ll stop at Cabo Girao, and have a chance to snorkel too.
We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide showed us so many little things we wouldn't have spotted by ourselves (for example the symbols on the house roofs). It was a very full day, I think we left the hotel around 8.30 and got back around 6, so much was packed into it. Although it involved some off-roading, it wasn't wild or dangerous, and followed defined tracks through the hills. The food was gorgeous, the guide worked very hard to ensure we all had a good time, and we really appreciated his effort and attention. Thoroughly recommended!

Francisco picked us up from our apartment as well as other guests along the way. He is a really chilled guy and explained everything really well, including safety while standing in the Jeep only when off roading . Wherever we stopped be explained where we were on a map and made lots of unplanned stops to show us the amazing flora and fauna on the island. It was a fantastic day with amazing weather taking in all the view points. He was kind enough to take pictures for everyone. The only let down was the lunch which was less than average quality. Overall we highly recommend this tour and especially Francisco who is a top guy!
