Zugspitze Tours

Zugspitze is Germany's highest mountain with an elevation of 9,718 feet above sea level. The mountain is also home to three glaciers and Germany's highest ski resort with more than 12 miles of pistes and a deep covering of natural snow six months of the year. The panoramic views from the top are spectacular, and due to its location on the Austrian border, on a clear day you can see more than 400 mountain peaks in four different countries. The Zugspitze Exhibition teaches visitors about the historical developments of this famous mountain.

Several mountain railways show visitors different views of Zugspitze. The cog wheel train from Zugspitze station Garmisch-Partenkirchen goes to Lake Eibsee. The Lake Eibsee cable car has beautiful views of the lake before reaching the Zugspitze Peak. The Zugspitze Glacier can be reached using the glacier lifts, and the rack and pinion railway travels back through the Zugspitze Tunnel to the starting point. Other attractions include two tobaggan runs, Germany's highest church, an igloo village, and several restaurants.
