Celebrating The Beatles in Hamburg

No reviews, be the first!

Although at the height of their fame they were associated with their hometown Liverpool, it was another port city where The Beatles first honed their craft, established their look and found Ringo Starr.

The Beatles arrived in Hamburg in 1960, their line-up then comprising John, Paul and George along with Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best. The first venue they played was the Indra Club (Grosse Freiheit 64), then a strip club, now reopened as a music venue. Their residency imposed a punishing schedule, but it allowed them to get comfortable onstage, win over difficult audiences and tighten up their playing.
