Art Basel was founded in 1970 and since then has grown to see annual events not only in Basel, but in Miami Beach and Hong Kong too. The event showcases modern and contemporary art, giving galleries from around the world access to an international audience of collectors, curators, critics, and art-lovers. Primarily, Art Basel aims to support galleries in nurturing the talent, development, and promotion of artists and the visual arts in general.
Art Basel debuted in Hong Kong in May 2013. It has since become a huge cultural event and an important platform in Asia for exhibiting the best of the world’s contemporary and modern art. Along with showcasing works from internationally renowned artists, Art Basel also showcases new artists of high merit.
The show attracts people from all over the world who have an appreciation of modern and contemporary art and as such has become a key event on the international art world stage.
Art Basel in Hong Kong is usually held in March with dates varying from year to year. It takes place on Victoria Harbour at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre right in the heart of the city, with plenty of transport links and accommodation options nearby.
