New Territories Heritage Tour

New Territories Heritage Tour

Away from the bustling streets of Hong Kong Island is the New Territories. The Heritage Tour takes you to see and feel the customs and cultures of the Tang, Hau, Pang, Liu and Man clans together. You will be given a fascinating glimpse of Hong Kong's rich heritage at Tai Fu Tai, a magnificent stately home which was built in 1865. Stop for a photo at Lo Wai Walled Village, declared a monument in 1997, being the first walled village built by the Tang clan. Nearby is the Tang's Ancestral Hall, built in the 16th century, for clan rituals & ancestor worship. The Lam Chuen Wishing Tree is a large banyan tree popular among local villagers who come to burn joss sticks and make wishes and is the location of another stop. A quick stop is made at Man Mo Temple. The temple is dedicated to the gods Man (Literature) and Mo (Martial Arts) as well as the nearby Tai Po Market which used to be the trading ground of foods & goods around the New Territories and now is a thriving food market.
