Experience the smallest village in Disko Bay with approx. 40 inhabitants. It is beautifully situated - 15 km north of Ilulissat - on a small peninsula at the foot of a large mountain. The Dutch name Rodebay is from the whaling time, and means either Red Bay or resting place. The place has been inhabited since the 1700s and was given the status as settlement in 1877.
It is exciting to see how a small Greenlandic society works with the most basic modern needs , as we know from the Western world. Drinking water, electricity, Internet, TV, renovation, school, church, shop and several other things that is the basis for the residents of the village.
