Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens Tours

With thousands of rare and exotic animals and plant species, the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens always seems to have something new to offer. Located at the mouth of the Trout River in Jacksonville, Florida, the zoo is uniquely situated to showcase different ecosystems. Because the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens is situated at the crossroads of migration paths for hundreds of species of wild birds, even serious birders will find bird watching here a unique experience.

There’s also ‘Land of the Tiger,’ where visitors can ‘take a walk through Asia’ and see all kinds of warty pigs, wrinkled hornbills, and five free-roaming tigers. At Stingray Bay, guests can pet and feed stingrays at the interactive permanent exhibit. At the 2.5 acre Play Park and Splash Ground, children can learn about (or reconnect with) nature while getting wet and having fun. Throughout the day zookeepers give different educational talks, there’s a train that runs around the zoo, a carousel, and a 4D theater featuring short films with state-of-the-art HD 3-D and multisensory effects.

Practical Info

The zoo’s gates close one hour prior to the zoo’s closing time. Opening hours are subject to change for special events. With 2 weeks’ advance notice visitors can book a behind-the-scene walking tour, an up-close and personal tour led by a zookeeper of some of the zoo’s most popular exhibits. You will visit night dens; learn about animal care and feeding, habits, and more.
