Summer in Lake Tahoe

The stunning blues of Lake Tahoe will make you feel like you’ve been transported to a sacred place – and you have. Many people come to Lake Tahoe and never leave – the mountains and the deep blue glacial waters of this lake are renowned for their serene beauty. And what Tahoe offers in beauty it matches in outdoor adventure. Come winter, world-class ski resorts dot the hills, and summertime in Tahoe offers the wider pleasures of the great outdoors. North Tahoe remains pristine and relatively uncrowded, while South Tahoe is something of a party town because it’s located in Nevada and gambling is legal – thus Tahoe offers something for everyone.

Come summertime, most come to Tahoe to enjoy the surrounding forest, swim in the blue waters, and mountain-bike its dusty shores. River rafting down the Truckee River is another great way to spend your time, while gondola’s that run many of the area’s ski resorts operate in the summer to take adventurous participants to the top in order to try their skills at downhill mountain-biking. Taking a boat cruise out on the lake is always fun, and if you’re around in July or early August the Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is always a blast. Set in an outdoor venue in a picnic and lawn-chair style family-friendly seating, the Shakespeare festival is as much about the community as it is about the bard himself.
