I took this cruise by myself, but I had a wonderful and relaxing time. Though I waited out in the cold decks until the family got to eat first in the warm-inside, but I got the chance to eat nonetheless.
The staff was super friendly, the audio commentator provided some interesting insight of the waters. The water was choppy at the time I took this cruise, so I stayed still and stared at the horizon (hoping that would help with an oncoming sickness I was feeling - it worked).
Verdict, I would take the cruise again.
Take a boat tour on Lake Tahoe to soak up the alpine beauty of Emerald Bay, one of the lake’s most scenic spots. As you glide across the water on the M.S. Dixie II, admire the surrounding Sierra Nevadas, and cruise past Emerald Bay’s Fannete Island, the lake’s only island, as well as Vikingsholm Castle, a unique home on the shore. Plus, watch a video on board about the interesting underwater features of the lake.
Once you embark, you will be seated for dinner right away and by the time your dinner is done, the sunset is gone too. We’d expect some time to watch the sunset but that didn’t happen. Very windy and cold once you get outside. There’s some entertainment but you’d better get there early or you’ll be standing.
Crews was good. Ticketing process was painful. I bought tickets on line but needed to check in before boarding and found that process cumbersome and there was no wifi so I could not show my ticket on my phone!!!
Watch the sun slip behind the mountains on a Lake Tahoe dinner cruise aboard the M.S. Dixie II, and enjoy champagne, live music and an elegant dinner on the water. Dance to tunes from the local Steve Walker Band, see a spectacular Sierra sunset, then sit down for a freshly prepared meal. Enjoy selections like grass-fed beef or trout, organic greens, and vegetables. Finish the evening with fresh berries and cake as the first stars appear above the peaks, and Lake Tahoe’s scenic shoreline is illuminated.
My wife and I took the October 24, 2019 tour of Yosemite. We had a wonderful experience from our early-morning pick up in Lake Tahoe to our return that night. Our guide, Snowshoe John did a thorough job of describing the day's itinerary and then followed through by smoothly moving us from sight to sight, in and around Yosemite. His narration provided detailed history and descriptions of what we were seeing and he supplemented that with videos (displayed on monitors inside the tour coach) that showed the same sights at different times of the year and from the perspective of historians and park service employees.
If you are visiting Lake Tahoe, I highly recommend this tour of Yosemite!
Everything was great on this full day tour. The driver (Snowshoe John) knew all the places to go to and stop for viewing and pictures. A couple driving by themselves would not know all the places to go like John did. Breakfast and Lunch was provided. Plenty of restroom stops along the way. John was very informative and showed many videos on the bus. Great tour all around.
Explore the scenic highlights of Yosemite National Park on a full-day, small-group guided trip from Lake Tahoe with a lunchtime picnic beside Cascade Falls. Capture unforgettable images of the park’s soaring rock walls and craggy peaks then enjoy an invigorating hike to Yosemite Falls or Bridalveil Falls, where high-mountain rivers tumble from sheer granite cliffs. Spot rock climbers scaling the face of El Capitan, watch for deer in alpine meadows, and take in the timeless beauty of California’s High Sierra mountains.
The trip was very well organised. Jim was really kind in giving us time to take photos. The photography tips were really helpful. Since it is a photography tour, i wish the trip starts much earlier, may be by 7AM so that we can get better photos.

The place seemed kind of run down; it was disappointing. I was expecting something nicer with more character. But if you're looking to spend a few hours and have lunch, it's OK. The train ride was simply 3 miles one way and back again. If you're interested in mining history the train is fine, but other than that I would recommend taking the trolley instead--you get to see more.
This 35 minute train ride was both educational and informational. It takes place high atop one of the the mountains of the Sierra Nevadas. Quite a bit of mining history and scenic views. This tour allows over two hours of free time to explore the eats ,treats, and unique shops along Main Street. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and suggested places to explore and where to have lunch.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of info about the area, the history, and Nevada facts. Only down side to his presentation was he named places and people like you should know who or where they were, and we live a thousand miles away. He also repeated himself a lot. Great to not have to drive and be able to view the scenery without worry.

Enjoyed our tour of wine country. We visited four different wineries, each with a unique flair and history. Guide was both knowledgeable and personal. Learned many historic facts about South Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties. Don’t miss out on this tour! Ask for Snowshoe John as your guide. You’ll be glad you did. Many varieties of wine available for sampling and purchasing.
Snowshoe John is absolutely fabulous. His knowledge of the area and the history made the bus ride even more enjoyable. Lunch was incredibly good and no where near any box lunch level. The wineries were wonderful, especially Chateau Davall. My future daughter-in-law and I enjoyed every minute and are enjoying all our purchases!

Our Driver/Guide was excellent & filled with all kinds of interesting facts. One negative, however. Sometimes he drove on winding roads with ONE hand. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, & of course, potentially dangerous.
Lake Tahoe is a beautiful area. I really enjoyed the stop at Tahoe City. It was a charming town on the water; was very clean, and had lots of character and spectacular fall color, There were restaurants and shops as well. I liked the scenic stops at Emerald Bay and Tahoe Dam--our guide fed the trout at the dam!. It's neat that we also got to see salmon spawning below a bridge.

Rented JetSki’s through viatour process went I suppose fine. It being third-party makes it interesting because you can’t have all your questions answered . The ski company is very busy the line was out the door. Even though we made reservations and paid for it prior. When we got there we learned that the 16-year-old could not drive a passenger. So we had a change of plans completely and rented a small boat. Definitely not the same experience. Overall they were easy to work with. Just way too busy and not a lot of parking options.
