PRIVATE tour in Carrara marble quarries with 4x4 vehicles
From $388.84 per group
A world apart from reality
, Oct 2019
We were taken up into the Carrara marble mines by our guide Gabriele, who was very knowledgeable on the area and the mines. He took us in a jeep higher and higher into the mountains - and when we thought we couldn't go higher we did. The mines are mind blowing and looking back down at the road and pits one could mistake it for another planet.
We visited on a wet rainy day which added to the air of mystery - although I suspect visiting on a sunny day is more pleasant and would allow visitors a spectacular view of the area.
It was a very enjoyable tour and highly recommended.
Get to know a different and fascinating reality, made up of hard work and genius, ancient sweat and modern technology. Our guided tours allow, in absolute safety, direct contact with places, people, tools, machinery and everyday gestures of ancient wisdom, to understand where modern sculpture was born
We had a free evening in Lucca before leaving for Rome the next day, and I had seen mentions of nightly concerts online and also in the town. Although we're definitely not opera buffs (have never even been to one), it seemed like a cool thing to do our last night there, so we bought tickets on Trip Advisor (although actually you can also buy them for the same price at the door at San Giovanni Church, just FYI). Either way, it was soooo much fun! There's a very talented pianist and two singers, in this case a young woman and older man, both who had amazing voices. They performed a selection of about a dozen songs, with a short intermission half way through. I'm guessing there were about 30 people in attendance, and the acoustics were fabulous. It was truly magical; I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who wants to experience the musical charm of Lucca! (And a great non-touristy restaurant to go to afterward is Osteria da Tosca. We had our best meal in Italy there.)
Learn about the Italian composer Puccini and connections to his hometown of Lucca with tickets to this concert series. Step inside a basilica in the center of Lucca to hear a concert featuring renowned singers and musicians. Get a crash course in the best of Puccini’s music with this evening concert.
Flavors of Lucca Small Group Tour with Food Tasting and Wine
, Oct 2019
We had fun time with Chiara eating our way through Lucca. Started out with incredible pastries and coffee and ended the tour with a fabulous antipasto platter and wine. Along the way we saw some of Lucca’s highlights. Only negative of the trip - Chiara took a group photo and was going to text a copy with itinerary, but we never received it. Minor item not worth reducing rating, but I would have liked information and picture.
Our guide was very knowledgeable of Lucca, its history and its food. We were guided around the city to its major attractions and along the way able to taste some of the wonderful food on offer in the city. I highly recommend the tour and will be returning to Lucca!

Top it all off with a glass of regional wine or beer.
Definitely a unique experience for any truffle lover. Despite rainy, muddy weather the tour was quite leisure for everyone except my 4 year old. Boots, ponchos, and umbrellas were provided for anyone who needed them. Francesca was so kind to my family and even let my daughter walk the dog at the end to motivate her to keep going. The lunch after was amazing.

Look at Lucca: Walking Tour and Exploration of Lucca
Lucia from Lucca
, Nov 2019
My husband and I were coming from Milan by train and ran a few minutes late getting to our meeting place for this tour. Lucia was waiting patiently for us. As it turned out, we were the only people scheduled for the tour, so were lucky enough to have Lucia's undivided attention. She was patient, very knowledgable about the sites we visited and was happy to answer questions as they came up. A very earnest and smart guide. Highly recommend!
Our guide for the walking tour of Lucca was a delight. She was very interesting to listen to not only for the historical facts she shared at every stop we made, but also for the details she pointed out in the architecture of the buildings. We learned a lot! Listening to her was like listening to a good story-teller.
Our guide, Victoria, was fabulous. Extremely knowledgeable and provided a great overview of Lucca. Only issue was the group was too big, 37 people and no headphones were provided making it hard to hear everything.

Half-Day Wine Tour in the Tuscan Hills Small Group from Lucca
Highlight of our Tuscany experience
, Oct 2019
Had a fantastic time with our group for the half day wine tasting. Went to a beautiful, informative, and delicious tasting in Montecarlo and had the chance to visit the town afterwards. It was not harvest season, but Massimo did a fantastic job of explaining the process. He was SO dynamic and wonderful to interact with, quickly knew all of us by name and really immersed us in the experience, making sure everyone became fast friends. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip.
We were met promptly at the arranged time by Emilia, our wonderful guide, and a Enrico our driver. The van was very comfortable for our trip to Altopascio, a beautiful town on a hillside famous for its delicious bread. Our guide gave us lots of historical, geographical and cultural information about our surroundings and destination. Emilia was quite funny, remembered all our names, and was a lively - and lovely addition to our adventure. After going on to Montecarlo and the nearby organic winery, we had a fantastic welcome from the staff and workers. A very informative tour began by Emilia was continued as we toured the winery and saw how the production of their 6 wines was done. A great set up for seated tastings among the barrels of wine was accompanied by explanations of each wine and how our food pairing might best be enjoyed. It was fun, intimate, well organized and a wonderful value. Afterwards a tour of the vineyards and photos was followed by a trip back to Lucca. I thought the tour was well organized, Emilia and a Enrico were wonderful guides, and the staff at the winery were friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone and would go again myself.
Excellent day out. High praise for the two tour operators for their enthusiasm and professionalism . Nothing was too much trouble . They gathered us all together, a small group of about 12 into two vehicles.......a slight hiccup finding some of the group but they did so with humour and had us all laughing. We were from as far as Iceland to Australia and as well as the i wine we enjoyed the company. The vineyard was beautiful and the wine and food just delicious. Well done Emilia and Antonio.

A "must" for any Lucca visitor
, Oct 2019
We visited Lucca last month (second visit) and wanted to do something that we hadn't done on the first visit. My husband came across this wine tour and it sounded like fun. Carole met us in front of the church in Lucca and drove us and our friends to two completely different types of wineries where we tasted olive oil with focaccia bread, cheeses and many different wines. Carole was so warm and friendly that we were put at ease as soon as we met her. I apologize that it has taken me so long to write this but it has been on my to-do list and felt I must recommend this tour to anyone interested in wine and spending a wonderful day in a beautiful country. You won't be sorry!

Our party of 5 adults were greeted and welcomed. We had an amazing tour through the vineyard and everything was thoroughly explained. All questions answered. The tasting was full of surprises, info and yummy food beyond what we expected. They work very hard to give a superior experience. Our sons loved it and we all thought it was very good use of our time. We thought the walking tour of the vineyard, olive trees and then the tasting was a winning combination and they made the ordering part very easy.
