29 Reviews
There is more to the United Kingdom than just London. About 160 miles from London is the city of Manchester, a gorgeous town filled with stunning architecture, chic restaurants and cafes, arts and culture and history.

Day One – Explore the Quays

In the past, the Salford Quays were not a part of town to visit. However, with the birth of The Lowry, the area has been revitalized and now is a major attraction in Manchester. Carve out a good couple of hours to wander through the Imperial War Museum North, an emotional museum that brings to life the pain, loss and realities of conflict. For Manchester United fans, or just sports fans in general, be sure to visit Old Trafford, the home one of the most famous sports teams in the world. Then, head over to The Lowry at Pier 8 to explore the art galleries. Enjoy dinner there and then grab tickets to a show in one of the two main theaters at the center.

Day Two – Take a Step Back in Time

There is no shortage of history in Manchester, and the numerous museums in town provide an extensive and fascinating look at the city’s past and present. First, head to the Museum of Science and Industry (be sure to plan on spending quite a bit of time here, as it is expansive), then explore the ancient artifacts and more at Manchester Museum. Stop over at The People’s Museum to learn about how Manchester came to be what it is today.

Day Three – Appreciate the Beauty

Manchester is a hidden gem of beauty. From its architecture to its galleries and outdoor attractions, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up the gorgeous city. For indoor activities, the Manchester Art Gallery is a great option. It houses more than a quarter of a million pieces of art. Then, for exploring the intricate gothic architecture, check out Manchester Cathedral and John Ryland’s University Library; considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful libraries.Don't miss the modern architecture dotted around the city, as well!
