Great Ocean Road tour: My guide was really knowledgeable about Melbourne and the areas which we stopped. It is a really compacted trip as you get to see many sights. Good amount of time at the beaches and to enjoy the 12 Apostles and surrounding view. Bring a bathing suit to swim and tan.
Phillip Island tour: This was a larger group tour, so you do a lot of the sight-seeing on your own. The Penguin Parade is the cutest thing. I would recommend watching the first few groups come up the beach and then walk along the boardwalk for a closer look. Seeing the penguins pop out of the water and run up the beach is truly an amazing sight.
Amazing day on Philip Island tour -- many stops to interact with wildlife and then finished off with great viewing point to see the penguins, back to Melbourne by 8 pm. Rainy weather on Great Ocean Road, but guide made the best of it.
I have a bucket list of things that deal with my fear of heights. Taking a hot air balloon ride was on that list. Thinking that an aerial view of Melbourne would compliment that, I rose to the challenge. I did not handle the knowledge of hearing the actual height of the balloon so I disregarded it and looked at the view. In retrospect, I understand that the fear of facing something was harder than doing it. I am glad that we did the flight and I would recommend it to everyone.

This was my favorite part of our trip! The ride was gorgeous!!! The guide took pictures of our group so we got to take home some great photos! The weather was beautiful and the champaign breakfast was great! This is something you and #39;ll remember forever! Great way to view beautiful Melbourne!

We did the Great Ocean Road tour on September 18. It is a long day but you are rewarded with amazing scenery along the way. We didn't have the best weather but the trip was fantastic. The stops are fairly short and you will be kept on a fairly tight schedule. The 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge are not to be missed. We did Phillips Island on September 19 and paid for the Penguin Private tour. At Moonlit Sanctuary, pay a little extra to get food for the kangaroos and to cuddle the koalas. I would have preferred skipping the Churchill Farm portion in exchange for more time at the Nobbies and the Penguin Parade. I grew up on a farm so it was not that exciting for me. Since we were doing the private penguin tour, we had to eat dinner at the Nobbies, which left us no time to look around. Also, we were very rushed at the Penguins and did not have time to look in the gift shop. As part of the Penguin Private, we were taken over to the Penguin Plus area. I would say that this is where you get more bang for your buck. Most of the penguins come up this way and there were way more seen here than where we sat front row on the beach. It is another long day. We had the best tour guide/driver, Steve so if you manage to have him, you are in luck! We did all three of the attractions in one day, the Aquarium, Eureka Skydeck and the Old Melbourne Gaol. The Aquarium was just renovated and they have done a great job. The Skydeck is very cool and the view is worth the trip. The Old Melbourne Gaol is very interesting and the Watchhouse Experience was fun. We packed a lot into 3 days but it was worth every penny.
Probably the best thing I did in Melbourne! Firstly the tour guide was great, knew his stuff. The bus was comfortable, the regular stops for food / bathrooms well timed and the little out of the way places many tours miss were included.Secondly, the views were unbelievable! Absolutely breathtaking scenery, great photo opportunities! Lastly, we might have just been lucky but by the end of the tour we had all become quite good friends and I hope at least some of us will stay in touch.
Highly, highly recommended!
Amazing, we loved the helicopter ride, and to see Melbourne from a birds eye view is incredible, put this one on your wish list and do it, you wont be disappointed.
Great experience. Fantastic views of Melbourne. Things look very different from up there. Friendly and helpful staff made the afternoon even better. Would recommend this to anyone.
Mornington Penisular was my first day trip after I arrived at Melbourne. The morning part of the trip was a little bit disappointed as the guide was busy dropping people to different location for other activities and we only went to some viewing spot late in the morning. The highlight will be the afternoon tour where we visited the strawberry farm, walk through maze. We did see some famous bathhouse along the beach but wasnt as nice as what we saw posted online. Nevertheless it was still an enjoyable trip.

Melbourne city tour not very good, not interesting .
Yarra River cruise BAD, we could not go under the bridges.
Great Ocean Road:SUPER SPECTACULAR, Beautiful cliffs and splendid views, the 4 stars are for this tour.
The balloon ride was very well piloted, gave us great views of the Yarra Valley and wineries and played out very well. The pick-up arrangements were not certain until the evening just before the balloon ride. Clearly the organisers, and the recorded message on the contact phone number, expected us to be either a resident of the Melbourne area or staying in a CBD hotel. We were staying somewhere else and it was only when the driver of the pick-up van called us on his mobile the evening before the ride, that I was at all confident that we would connect with the balloon in the early hours of the following morning. The organisers should also specify a clock time on their information, instead of specifying the pick-up time by an interval before sunrise.

You get a lot for your money with this tour but try to break it up into two days. I was picked up at around 7am and did not get back to the hotel until 1am. The city tour was okay but I wish they had an open top bus or windows that open so that you can take photos as you go and get better views of the city. The tour of the arcades took about 45 minutes was pointless. That could have been a much better walking tour, maybe stopping at 1 arcade then seeing a bunch of other buildings. Additionally, our walking tour guide seemed nervous or unsure of herself. She spoke very quietly and without any enthusiasm. We also stopped at one of the gardens, which was quite pretty, and at Queen Victoria Market which I would not have gotten to see otherwise. However, if you are staying in the CBD in Melbourne, just hop on a free tram and go around the city yourself. Don't bother with the tour.
We had about a 1 hour break for lunch, which was actually one of the best parts of the day. Stopping at Federation Square, I took the time to walk along the Yarra River and take in some of the architecture up close. Then we left for Phillip Island which was about 1 1/2 hrs away. We stopped first at a farm for 1 hour. Many people seemed very interested in the cows and sheep and chickens but I have seen all that before in the US. Then we sent to a koala reserve which was nice. You will definitely see koalas there- some very close up. Then you go to the penguin area and have dinner. Options for food are very few and none were particularly good. You have time to walk the boardwalk and take in some beautiful coastal views before heading to the penguin parade. You will be really glad to get on the Penguin Plus platform because the main viewing area is bleacher seats and it is PACKED. Sixty percent of the penguins go past the Plus platform area so you get a great up close view of them. All that said, there was nothing truly exciting about the day. I don't know what I was expecting but there was nothing that just took my breath away. The penguins are cute but I don't know... it was a really late night and a long drive and felt rather anti-climatic to finally see them.
