La Profesa (Temple of San Felipe Neri) Tours

The 17th-century Temple of San Felipe Neri, more commonly known as La Profesa, is a Roman Catholic church set in Mexico City’s Centro Historico. The grand Baroque building has served as the setting for a number of events in Mexico's history, but is most commonly visited today for its turn-of-the-century architecture and collection of fine art.

While the church can be visited as part of most sightseeing tours, a visit is not complete without stepping inside to view the gallery. The church features a large collection of colonial-era works spanning the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, including paintings by José de Alcíbar, Cristóbal de Villalpando and Juan Correa, men considered to be some of Mexico’s best artists.

The nearest metro station to La Profesa is Zócalo, and the whole area is easily accessible by foot.
