Outdoor Adventures from Moab

224 Reviews
Moab’s friendly vibe and close proximity to some of Mother Nature’s most incredible natural landscapes make it the perfect springboard for outdoor adventure. Travelers can settle in to one of the numerous hotels or bed and breakfasts for a few days or a couple of weeks and use this mountain town as a base camp for all kinds of awesome.

Mountain bikers and adrenaline junkies can get their fix by spending a day at nearby Sand Flats Recreation Area, where level 4 descents and technical terrain offer plenty of excitement for thrill seekers. Despite the short drive from Moab, Sand Flats feels miles away from civilization. The summit of Porcupine Rim Trail, with its well-marked paths and easy climbs, showcases incredible panoramic views of the mountainside, too.

Moab offers easy access to plenty of wet water adventures as well. Visitors can ride some wild waves and raging white waters at Cataract Canyon, where tell-tale names like Big Drop, Little Niagara, Satan’s Gut and the Claw make visitors grateful to return to the city’s quiet streets after a day on the roaring river.

Moab’s close proximity to world-class hiking trails means land-loving wanderers will also find plenty to do while using this city as an adventure base camp. The La Sal Mountains provide thrill seekers with plenty of ice climbing and canyoneering opportunities, while the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail offers plenty of trails that wind through ancient remains and are accessible to most any level of experience.
