Panoramic Hop-On Hop-Off Tour of Munich by Double-Decker Bus
Easy way to see Munich
, Dec 2019
Always like jumping on the Hop On and Off tours in any city we visit. This was no exception. Very clean buses, buses are covered for inclement weather, and good audio for each tour. There are 3 legs (a red which is the old city and probably most popular, blue which gets you around some of the art and museum sections, and the purple which takes you to Nymphburg palace and the Olympia Park/BMW factory). If you're staying near central station and the Old City, this is an easy access tour. Our favorite was actually the purple line, because you got to spend time at the Palace which had several swans and a large public park/walking area, and then subsequently on the same line you can visit the Olympic Tower and site of the Munich Olympic Games (the BMW museum and plant are across the street as well).
Overall great tour; worth the value. We took the 2 day option which gives some flexibility if you want to spend time in certain areas. Be mindful the tours start around 10, and depending on the day of the week the frequency by which the buses run may range from every 15 minutes to once an hour. Last buses leave central station at 4 PM, so if you're counting on the bus to get home you have to make sure you're at the stop to be picked up.
This was rapid review of central Munich city, with the possibility of getting off at ~4 stops. However, since this was a mid-afternoon start, and since the bus didn’t run after 5pm, getting off really was not much of an option. Their 24-7 ad really isn’t.
Marvel at Munich’s monuments, parks, and famous beer halls on a hop-on hop-off bus tour. Combine the ease of a tour with the flexibility of independent travel and see the city sights at your own pace with a 24- or 48-hour pass. Choose from multiple routes that pass all the city’s most popular attractions including the Nymphenburg Palace, Odeonsplatz, and Olympic Park. Listen to the on-board audio commentary or jump off to explore the English Garden, stroll around lively Marienplatz, or enjoy a beer (own expense) at the legendary Hofbräuhaus beer hall.
Get acquainted with Munich the easy way on a fun, flexible hop-on hop-off city bus tour. Choose a 24-hour Express Tour to check out Munich’s main highlights or a 24-hour or 48-hour Grand Tour ticket to widen your sightseeing net. Either way, settle aboard an open-top double-decker bus, listen to the enlightening onboard commentary, and enjoy panoramic views of sites such as the Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, Viktualienmarkt and more. Hop off at the stops that interest you, explore on foot and then re-board the bus at any stop you wish.
Annette my guide was wonderful! The bus was clean, ride was smooth. I'm very glad I have joined this tour and get to go to 3 places without using my brain at all! Yes you are paying more but there is no fuzz!
I would highly recommend to everyone!

Munich by Night including Dinner at Hofbrauhaus and Olympic Tower Ascent
Bright Lights Big City
, Nov 2019
The tour was easy to find. Pick up was prompt. We toured around Munich in a bus, narrated by a passionate guide. The stop at Hofbrauhaus was delightful. The food was good. I was a little disappointed not to have gone up to the entertainment level, but that is ok. After, off to the Olympic Tower for a drink. Seeing the city from the tower was delightful. Overall, a lovely evening.

Excellent tour guide, she stuck to the schedule, was cheerful, and kept us well informed. My only complaint is there was such a short time in Salzburg and I wish we could have spent more time exploring its charms. However, the lake tour/boat ride was the best part -- absolutely beautiful, scenic, and totally worth the additional cost.
Immerse yourself in Salzburg, sights from the ‘The Sound of Music’ movie and Austria’s Lake District on a day trip from Munich. Absorb the beautiful Lower Bavarian Alps as you journey south to Salzburg, and enjoy free time to explore its churches, squares and filming locations from the ‘Sound of Music’ movie independently. Lastly, return to Munich via gorgeous Lake Mondsee, where several scenes from the ‘Sound of Music’ movie were filmed.
Full-Day Small Group Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour from Munich
A very important and meaningful day
, Jan 2020
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, as well as sensitive about the difficult issues at hand. I grew up learning about the Holocaust through Jewish day school and hebrew school, and learned a lot of new information on this tour that I had never heard before. The tour really broadened my understanding of what went on at concentration camps.
Visit Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, the first permanent concentration camp to be built by the Nazi Party, on this 6-hour tour from Munich. Travel by train from the Bavarian capital to Dachau, where you'll learn about the camp’s prisoners, gain insight into life under Nazi rule, and visit the visitors' center, reconstructed barracks, gas chambers and other rooms.
Our guide Alun was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and extremely sensitive with what is a very difficult part of history to relay. He took time to relay events which spanned 12 years (prior, during and at liberation). I enjoyed his insight, felt he was very well read and extremely sensitve. I know that this may not be the easiest job in the work to do repeatedly, but i felt that Alun was compelled to educate us and did this with respect to us, to the subject and to the atmosphere of the site. I also liked how the groups are kept small, giving us plenty of individual attention and answering every single question we had (which as you can imagine with the subject matter - were plentiful).
Explore Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site on this half-day tour from Munich. Travel by train from Munich to Dachau with a guide, and visit the former concentration camp. Romantic Road, Rothenburg, and Harburg Day Tour from Munich
, Jan 2020
We had a wonderful tour. I do not remember the name of the guide but he was half german and half french and he was just wonderful. Very informative, looked out for the other travelers when crossing busy streets, good information for food and very knowledgeable.
We had an amazing tour the week of Christmas, beer to purchase on the bus, great tour guide. We were able to have ample time at the Christmas markets and got to eat locally. I highly recommend this tour

Enjoy a coach drive along the iconic Road, a famously picturesque route through Bavaria’s mountains and forests. See top attractions such as the Renaissance-era Town Hall, enjoy free time to wander, have lunch (own expense), and more.
Lots of interesting fun facts that gave some perspective during castle tour. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Non luxury tour seemed like it would have been over crowded, rushed and less relaxed. Having tickets purchased for you is a time saver and is a guarantee you will will be able to get to see the castle. Elizabeth our guide was very informative and extra polite!

A True Learning Experience
, Oct 2019
Mat was originally from Great Britain but has taken time and energy to learn about the site and events.
He picked us up at the hotel and walked us to the subway for our trip to Dachau. He took the time to find out why we had come and our expectations. He gave us great historical background and was open to all questions. Our questions were not just event focused but also on current day.
Hot to say it was a pleasant day but it was a worthy journey and Mat made it a point to see that we (r women) were comfortable and had compassion for us. We were a bit surprised at his openness in discussing current events.

Stunning - fantastic
, Nov 2019
Our guide was a big part of why this tour was soo great. Nicolas was the best. He was informative, interesting, funny and caring. Great tour guide.
Its a long day and a long drive but well worth it. Our stop in Oberammergau was magical - the christmas shop is stunning and open all year round. The town of Oberammergau is just picturesque.
The castle is just beautiful - it wasnt finished inside and the inside tour was overcrowded and not really worth it. But from the outside the castle is stunning - as is the area.
We had lunch in Austria at Lake Plansee and this was wonderful.
We really enjoyed the whole tour and thank Nicolas so much for being fantastic. Its a long day and you spend a lot of time with the guide so you need to get along. Highly recommend the tour and Nicolas.
Nicholas was a fantastic guide for our private tour to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Ettal, Oberammergau, the alpine coaster and Neuschwanstein Castle. We were able to enjoy our time at our own pace while gaining excellent knowledge about Munich, Bavaria, and each stop along the way. This tour was a highlight of our family trip. Highly recommend!

Berchtesgaden Town and Mountains and the Eagle's Nest from Munich
, Nov 2019
Great experience, tour guide was knowledgeable and was very nice. The trip itself was awesome and definitely had enough time allotted for the tour and lunch. We also stopped at a small village in the valley which was picturesque and a good place for coffee, shopping or just exploring.
Although we could not go up to Eagle's nest due to bad weather, the organisers had already planned a plan B -Salt mine in Berchtesgaden which is very nice and interesting. Katharina, the guide on the bus was very nice and we enjoyed the information she gave us. Mentor, our driver was also very nice. He also offered us drinks on board.
Great day tour with a knowledgeable guide who made the time on the road fly by with a well researched perspective on both Munich and the Eagles Nest and also Berchtesgaden. Katarina was friendly and kept us well informed all day. I would recommend this trip without hesitation
Getting from Munich to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) by public transport makes for a long day trip. Avoid stressing about connections or the hassle of arranging a rental car, and take this relaxing tour instead. Explore the Dokumentation Obersalzberg museum and Eagle's Nest at your expense, and stop at the alpine town of Berchtesgaden. If bad weather renders Eagle’s Nest inaccessible, visit the Berchtesgaden salt mines instead.
Skip-the-Line Neuschwanstein Castle Half-Day Tour from Munich
From $150.00 (Price varies by group size )
, Sep 2019
The 6 hour day trip turned into almost 9 hrs due to the travel. The train ride there took about 45 minutes, but the train ride back was over 2.5 hrs. Would have been nice to know that beforehand. Especially since the castle tour was less than 30 mins.
We took off on a train and 3/4 of the way there we switched to two vans. These drivers did not slow down for any thing. The one van that i was in made alot of noise and my group wondered if it was going to make it to the castle. 8o minutes later we made it there. He told us that after the tour to meet him back at the van. We did not see him until after the tour. We had no time after the tour to grab something to eat or look in the shops befor we had to be back to the vans. Then the driver took off and was talking and driving on both sides of the road. He took us to a train station about 20 minutes away gave us our train tickets and said have a good trip back. 3 and 1/2 hours later we made it back to Munich. The castle tour was nice .but a lot of walking up and down the trail. Make sure your in good shape
Neuschwanstein Castle is very interesting and very stunning. Viator has to stop advising the Skip-The-Line. There is no such option there. Tickets are set with a group number and assigned a set entrance time. There is no option to skip anything except waiting your groups time.
Neuschwanstein Castle, the fairy tale castle on which Disney’s Cinderella castle is based, is a must-see when in the Munich area. Wait time for tours can take several hours; this ‘skip-the-line' tour is essential for making the most of your time in Bavaria. Hauptbanhof, Munich’s Central Station, is your convenient pick up and drop off spot for this round-trip tour. Your informative driver will guide you through the castle, so you won’t miss a thing.
VIP tour to the royal castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof from Munich
Excellent day -, well worth it
, Sep 2019
We really enjoyed this tour. Enty of time to see the sights before the castle tours. Couldn't have had a nicer guide -Christina-, so knowledgable. Made the day perfect. Both castles well worth seeing and scenery was stunningly beautiful
See Neuschwanstein Castle’s fairytale turrets and Linderhof Castle, inspired by Versailles, on this convenient day trip from Munich, with snacks and soft drinks on board. It’s almost impossible to see both castles in a day on public transport, but this tour delivers, with a stop at a viewpoint to capture the perfect Neuschwanstein photo too. A live guide tells fascinating tales of Mad King Ludwig and so much more.
Neuschwanstein Castle Small-Group Day Tour from Munich
Cool Bald Guy
, Feb 2020
Guide did not show up for some reason. Was told we might need to go without a guide and would just then take the train ourselves (w/o) a guide. I would have definately ask for a refund if that was the case but cool bald guy from the office ( sorry was not able to get your name). Got a complimentary beer and guy was pretty fun to listen to. History of castle was pretty mystrerious and fun. But the best of them all was snow!!!!
I recently went on this tour to Neuschwanstein castle and it was the highlight of my trip to Munich! I snowed in the morning before our arrival, so when we got there it was covered in snow, and so beautiful. Our guides, Anna and Veronica, kept us interested on the bus ride with history and facts about the castle and the villages we passed through on the drive. Anna led my half of the group up the path to the castle; even with the cold and snow she was good natured and knew so much about the history of the castle and the area. It was really interesting to hear the whole backstory of King Ludwig and then connect that story to all of the details on the inside of the castle. The actual tour inside the castle is pretty short, so I was really pleased with the in depth history and details we got from Anna on our walk up to the castle. On our return ride to Munich Anna walked up and down the bus asking people if they needed any suggestions for the evening or the rest of their trip. She recommended us to a great restaurant for dinner. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great day trip out of Munich, and I can't say enough how great Anna and Veronica were as our guides!
Travel from Munich to Bavaria’s Neuschwanstein Castle on this day trip that includes round-trip transportation by train. Often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," Neuschwanstein was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland. Take a guided tour of the castle, and hear stories about the "Mad" King Ludwig II, who commissioned it. The entrance fee is not included, but skip-the-line access is, so you won’t wait in the main admission queue.
Enjoy a day of sightseeing in the Bavarian heartland, including a visit to the popular Neuschwanstein Castle, on this guided, full-day tour from Munich. First, choose from either a bike tour around the village of Hohenschwangau, including a swim in scenic Lake Alpsee, or go hiking and visit Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood home of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Then step inside the king’s palace of retreat, Neuschwanstein Castle, for a guided walking tour of one of Germany’s most popular attractions. Use of a bike and helmet are included.
Discover Nuremberg’s rich and storied past on a full-day bus and walking tour from Munich. Relax on the comfortable ride to Nuremberg, then take a guided tour of the city, famous as the epicenter of the Nazi propaganda campaign. See attractions like Congress Hall and historic old town, and learn about the birth of the Third Reich empire. Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore, sample local foods and snap souvenir photos.
It rained the day of our tour so the view was not as good as I would have liked. But the tour guide made the best of it and we all had a very pleasant time. It would have been nice if we the tour had reservations for the restaurant at the eagle's nest and we had been informed of this in advance.
Visit the Eagle’s Nest in Berchtesgaden, Adolf Hitler’s famous mountaintop retreat, on this day trip from Munich. Travel by air-conditioned coach through Bavaria’s lush mountainscapes, and ride a bus and elevator to the lodge, 6,148 feet (1,834 meters) up Mt. Kehlstein. See where Hitler entertained dignitaries, view the hall where weddings and conferences were staged, and explore the terrace to admire the spectacular Alpine views—vistas that Hitler, ironically, found challenging due to his vertigo. Enjoy time for lunch (own expense) and the option to visit the Nazi Documentation Center Museum.
The trip was great, but we booked the tour to go by train from Munich, but they said the train was full so we had to take a bus while waiting at the train station. This was really disappointing. We did not receive any compensation for this change.
The discussion by the guide about Ludwig II was really all just gossip about his personal life with unsubstantiated claims. I would have rather head facts about the castle and the king instead of rumors.
The trip to the castle was fantastic. Taking in the Bavarian castle from the train and the snow covered alps in the distance. We start to learn about Ludwig and his unbelievable life - from his fascination with Wagner to the incredible castles he built. We had a fabulous day. Our guide Patrick was a brilliant storyteller and also looked after us the whole day - even offering dining suggestions for after the trip. A fantastic day seeing this fairy tale castle and discovering its history
Experience the fairytale atmosphere of Neuschwanstein Castle and the Bavarian Alps during this full-day train excursion from Munich. Travel by rail to the village of Hohenschwangau, where you can pick between a tour of the castle’s interior (own expense) or a guided hike in the nearby foothills with views of the fortress. Train transport and your guide are included.
