This was a very interesting and informative tour. We were picked up on time and the driver gave us a great commentary on the way to the plantations. The Mouring Tour at the St. Joseph Plantation was very interesting and the Whitney Museum is something that every American should see. The tour was thought provoking and memorable.
The best. My wife and I had a great time.

We had Muriel as our tour guide. She welcomed us aboard and thanked us for being on time...
Muriel gave us a history tour on the entire ride to all of the tours...she was very informative, and I found her unknowingly witty :
The first stop was the Torres Swamp Tour - Brian was our guide. He was great! Although we weren't able to see any gators in the bayou, the tour was amazingly beautiful
We then went to Oak Alley Plantation, had a delicious lunch of gumbo, crawfish-something, red beans and rice - for dessert I had the buttermilk pie - YUM!
The house is beautiful, but its the view from the second floor balcony that is breathtaking... don't expect to hear history of the plantation - it's all about the house.
We then ventured over to Laura Plantation... if there is only one Plantation you see, make sure its this one! Stephen was our guide - he was fantastic! He gave us history of the home as well as the people and the lives they lived there...
Overall: Awesome. And if you can, ask for Muriel - I found her to be a hot ticket!
Loved the entire day! It was informative and fun, too! The lunch was yummy! I would suggest packing a little snack because sometimes your lunch is later if the schedule is rearranged. Would recommend it to anyone and would definitely take another tour with this company if I were returning to NOLA.
This was a great day out and a fantastic way to see Cajun Country. I would recommend the Swamp Boat adventure as a must as this was the highlight of the day!
I would highly recommend this tour to everyone, you really get a feel for the southern life style in this time period. It was hard for me to believe that the slaves were treated so inhumanly! Both plantations are so different but both guides were very informative and gracious. Even tho we did not see any wildlife, we got alot of knowledge into bayou life.
Our tour started with a stop at Torres Swamp Tours. Brian, our captain, was very informative. We were able to see a baby alligator but due to the high water, sightings have been rare. We then had lunch and toured Oak Alley Plantation. Lunch was delicious! We had about 40 minutes to walk around the grounds on our own. We then took the tour of the house We were part of a large group but they allowed us to take our time so nothing was missed. We toured the house and grounds of Laura Plantation as our final stop. The entire tour was guided. Once again we were part of a large group.
Really great tour and place..this really focuses on the family like most plantation tours in Louisiana however unlike most they do have some actually stories, pictures and artifacts from the slaves who lived there. The house and slave quarters are well preserved. They were going to repair mother in law house but a fire happened in the main that took all the money so I would go back when that was done. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgable. As far as overall experience I feel this plantation store is the best ..there are many food items for sale that are quite usually if you aren't from the area. I picked up some pecan oil and cane jelly two things that I didn't even know existed. The book selection is really great as well. Not only modern books but replicas of old books such as a slave cookbook, creole cookbook from back then and children's books from back then like toys and games played back then..this is worth a tour
Doing what: Laura Plantation Tour
This was my best decision! The plantations transported us to a place difficult to reconcile, yet important to absorb. The high speed air boat ride was both exhilarating and informational. Our guides all day were highly intelligent and passionate about their part in the whole experience. Fabulous. I can't stop thinking about it.
Fun for the whole family, and the lunch was some of the best food we had in NO!
We did several different tours during our recent trip. As always, these tours are only as good or bad as the guide assigned to you. Our day was fantastic. The swamp tour was beautiful but we didn't see any gators at all. It was still a nice start. The next stop was Oak Alley plantation, which was absolutely stunning to see. The alley of Oaks was in itself worth the drive as it is a stunning view. Finally we went to Laura plantation, which is a Creole plantation and VERY different from Oak Alley. The tour guide that was assigned to us there was awesome and you could tell that the plantation put a lot of thought into their presentations. There was a logical progression through the tour that really was great. I think the tour at Laura Plantation was the highlight of the day. Doing two such different types of Plantations back to back was a great contrast and we loved it. Further, as it was an hour drive to reach the plantations, it made a big difference that our driver was outstanding. He literally talked for the entirety of the drives with interesting information on tons of topics regarding the plantations, life in New Orleans, the city, a little of everything. Further, he was took us on the drive past a bunch of other plantations that we were not touring some that you can't tour as well and gave a brief history on each, including telling us which movies each was featured in, etc. Without question, this day was the best tour of our trip. I highly recommend spending the money and time to do the swamp/Oak Alley/Laura Plantation tours. They really were great.
I enjoyed the Swamp Tour a lot.. I have been on other ones but this was very good.
Oak Alley is always fun to visit. I have been there a number of times.
I really enjoy Laura ...the Creole Plantation. That was very informative.
Would highly recommend this tour was very informative and our tour guide was awesome.
This was a wonderful and informative tour. We got to hear about plantation life and see the furnishings of two very different plantations. Our guide, Logan, at Laura Plantation told us stories that were so interesting it made us want to learn more. Our driver picked us up right on time and gave us information about the city all the way out to the plantations and back again. We would highly recommend this tour!!
We so enjoyed our time in New Orleans but this tour was the highlight of our trip. This tour is well worth the cost! Ellen our well informed guide was tops! No alligators to see but our Swamp Boat Captain provided us with a great understanding of the real Swamp People - much different than portrayed on TV.. The plantation tours were both interesting and diverse and again our guides were very well informed. Lunch was beyond expectations. Book it!
Wonderful tour. Beautiful .
This was the 2nd time I have done this tour and it never dissapoints. The air boat ride is great and the alligator came rigt up to the boat. The meal at Oak Alley is fantastic. I would recomend this tour for all ages.
This was an awesome tour! Guy was a great driver/guide. We enjoyed our experience very much.
Excellent tour grouping - the tour guides at each of the three stops were very informative swamp airboat tour, Oak Alley Plantation and Laura Plantation. The lunch at Oak Alley was lovely - a full day very well spent - would highly recommend this package tour deal!!!
Wonderful tour! We did the air boat excursion and loved it. Captain Dufresne was a lot of fun and a great guide. I've never understood swamps, but thought an air boat would be fun. Imagine my surprise when I fell in love with the swamp. It's a beautiful, magical place.
The plantations are beautiful. The Laura Plantation, in particular, is great. Our guide, Stephan, was amazing! The whole story, family drama, and plantation history was brought to vivid life. They are doing some really great work there and I hope to come back to see how much more they have renovated and brought back to life. Lovely tour that lets you get out and see more than just the city. Highly recommended.
We very much enjoyed this tour. Our driver/guide, Guy, provided a lot of information about the areas we were visiting and the history of the area. The only warning I'd have for anyone doing this trip is the length of the drives to the swamp boats and then back to the hotel from the plantations. Each took over an hour but Guy did an excellent job of keeping us engaged and making the time pass. The swamp boat ride was informative and relaxing. The bayou is beautiful. Our visit to the first plantation, Oak Alley, included a lunch which was very good. The tour and the property was interesting with avery good docent but for some reason they had a very large group which barely fit into some of the rooms. The second plantation, Laura, was a completely different experience, not nearly as luxurious a building, but a very engaging history of the family that lived here. This tour size was limited to just our tour group which allowed for a lot more interaction. Our docent at Laura, Rose, was excellent. A totally enjoyable day.
Guides were knowledgable and entertaining pacing of tours was well thought out.
This was a full day of fun. The swamp boat ride was beautiful and the tour guide funny and informative. I wish this part had lasted a little longer. The lunch at the plantation was delicious and as I don and #39;t eat spicy food they happily brought me a wonderful alternative. The plantations were grrat.
