3 Days 2 nights trip starting from Fez ending in Marrakech via Sahara Desert (Merzouga)
The Best of Morocco
, Jan 2020
I travel a lot for work and pleasure. I rarely take tours and employ guides. In this case, I couldn’t be happier that I did.
We traveled to all the major cities in Morocco and spent three days with Sahara Desert Tours going from Fez to Marrakech via a night in the Sahara Desert and one in the Atlas Mountains. This journey was by far the best experience we had while in Morocco. Every aspect of this journey was excellent from pick up and drop off to desert accommodations, food, coffee and companionship with the staff. The highlight of all the highlights was our guide Ibrahim. I’m fairly sure he is why this experience was so excellent. He is a true ambassador for Morocco and the Berber people as well as a steady driver and friendly companion. He has a zest for life, love of country, and concern for his clients that makes your time w him truly unique and special.
If you come to Morocco, I highly recommend leaving the cities and seeing the unique and lovely countryside. Morocco countryside is stunning, beautiful and unique. It is well worth the time and effort. Should you take my advice, then I can not recommend Sahara Desert Tours more highly.
I’m deeply grateful for the experience they offered us and their warm, gracious hospitality.
Friendly driver with good driving and good accommodations
, Oct 2019
Our tour was a total of 6, all from America. The driver Mustafa was super friendly and courteous with great driving. He drove tirelessly with extreme caution and made the journey from Fes to Merzouga/Sahara Desert through the middle atlas to Tinghir and to Marrakech through the high atlas comfortable and pleasant. The driver was patient and attentive and gave great advice upon arriving in Marrakech. Our experience at the desert with the camel ride was a memorable one! I would recommend this tour company and the driver.
On this multi-day, one-way transfer from Fez to Marrakesh, you’ll explore some of Morocco’s most stunning natural attractions. Hop a camel for a scenic ride through Erg Chebbi Dunes, sleep in Berber-style tents under the open stars, hike along Todgha Gorge, and tour the centuries-old Kasbah of Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou. Tours include accommodation and select meals.
We had a wonderful time during our 2 days and overnight stay in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Sami was our main contact and he ensured everything leading up to the trip went as clock work. On the day, though the car journey to the dunes was long, our driver Muhammad provided informative detail regarding the location and also regarding the regions Berber people. He also ensured we stayed away from any tourist trap locations, taking us to authentic value for money restaurants for lunch (we had our most tasty Tajine on this trip).
The camel ride to the Berber camp was great fun and what an experience on the eye with the deep blue sky and rusty orange sand making for an array of amazing colours. The staff at the Berber camp were very friendly and accommodating and our tent was very comfortable.
Overall we really loved our experience and rebooked with Sami’s team for a journey to the Blue City.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience with the Perfect Guide
, Feb 2020
Our Sahara desert tour was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our tour guide, Sami, was so very kind, helpful, and informative. By the end of the tour, I had earned a friend. He was also a great driver and knew exactly where to stop to get the best food, views, and experiences. We had the option of either taking a big bus or riding in a private 4x4 with Sami. We decided to go with Sami and we were so glad we did!
We rode through the (snowy) Atlas Mountains and Sami took us to a nice cafe where we had breakfast and coffee. We then walked around the area and took photos of the famed lion rock. We then headed further into the mountains, where Sami introduced us to the monkeys. We fed them, snapped some photos, and drove on through the snow. Hundreds of people were seen sledding, building snowmen, and riding beautiful Arabian horses. The entire drive was incredibly scenic. We passed through small mountain settlements, Berber villages, desert towns, and more.
Once we arrived in the desert, just in time for a sunset camel ride, Sami helped us pack our belongings and took photos of us mounting the camels (which are hilarious :D). The trek through the desert was breathtaking--a kind of peace you can only experience in the desert or scuba diving in the ocean. The sunset was red and purple and the dunes seemed too beautiful to be real. After the scenic camel ride, we came to our camp, which consisted of 6 large tents, a main entertainment tent and outdoor areas with rugs, lamps, and seating, where we would later hang out and watch the stars. Our host was gracious and kind. They immediately served us hot mint tea after we got settled in. We then had a delicious, three-course meal.
Our host and the rest of his team then played traditional African music. We each tried our turn at banging the conga and bongo drums as people sang, danced, and laughed. The rest of the trip was very relaxing and peaceful. While it was cold (as winter in the desert is), we had plenty of wool blankets. And we sat under the stars in the early morning hours after the clouds had blown over. We could see the entire milky way.
The trip back was excellent as well. We rode back as the sun rose over the desert. Our camel driver then let us stop at the base of a massive dune, where we walked around, explored, and took photos of the sunrise and the epic vistas surrounding us. Sami offered to take us on 4x4's but we were tired from the trip and opted to instead stop at a few viewpoints on the way back.
I would highly recommend the Fes to Fes Sahara Desert Tour. Sami was the perfect guide and the tour was excellent. We will never forget the experience.
3-Day Desert Tour to Marrakech via Merouga-Erg Chebbi from Fez
From $195.00 (Price varies by group size )
, Sep 2019
It was an entertaining trip for the 3 days, picked up early in Fez at my Riad and dropped off at my Riad in Marrakech around 1700L. The guide Mustaf was very nice and friendly to the group. We had 5 of us total. There is a LOT of time in the van, however we stop a lot to take pictures of the country and sites, and the landscape at times was beautiful. The camel rides where a lot of fun. We got in late so actually had a night right with the Harvest moon over the sand dunes, very cool. Accommodations were ok, the semi-permanent tents were basic but did have private bath and shower, and the second night was a good hotel with a pool and good dinner.

The trip was well planned, this trip is not for everyone, but if you have only 2 or 3 days and want to get a feel for Morocco, its culture, see the Medinas, walk through them with an expert guide, this is for you. Our driver OMAR was excellent, he spoke English, Moroccan Arabic, French, Spanish , we spent most of the time with him on the road and he was very pleasant, patient driver and guide. When we arrived from Spain, he was waiting for us, helped us with the luggage and drove us to the first two destinations. On one of them he came with us ( tickets included) and explained the history and mythology of it, on the second one , he allowed us to roam the old medina and met us after outside. Then we drove for hours to get to the roman ruins of Volubilis, great place we reached right at sunset with unbelievable views and the sunset, finally on the first day , Omar drove us to our Riad in FEz where we spent the nigh, had dinner and breakfast next morning. Riad was very comfortable and they made us feel like at home, great people there too. Next morning we went to Fez old medina, to the ceramic hand made factory, we roamed the streets, mixed with locals, went to the market, the tannery all with an expert guide, here you have time to buy what you like. When we finished, Omar drove us to Chetchouen where we spent the night at a hotel which was good and had a balcony and we had time to shop and walk around the medina. Next morning after breakfast at the hotel, Omar picked us up with a guide who showed us the Old medina at Chetchouen and allowed us time to make purchases. When we finished and said goodbye to the guide, Omar drove us to Tangier ( his native city) where we met yet another guide who guided us through the old and new Medina. Finally , Omar drove us back to the ferry to head for Spain. Omar was great ,I would recommend him 100 % to anybody considering this fast, but very interesting trip, We plan to come back in the near future and We definitely We will ask for Omar., Dr G
If you’re looking for a weekend break from Spain, this 3-day tour from Tangier is a great way to explore Morocco in a short amount of time. Learn about the history of the country and see the highlights of Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, and Asilah, including a short trekking excursion to the Rif Mountains. This tour includes accommodation, transportation, daily breakfast, and entrance fees.
I had an amazing time on this trip and it was surreal. The only bad thing about it was that there was a lot of time spent in the car, but that's just the nature of the trip cause we need to go so far out to enjoy it. Our tour guide was Abd Rahman and he was amazing. He knew great little hidden spots to take us for lunch and breaks on the way there and was extremely flexible and catered to what we wanted to see. There were a lot of sights to be seen on the way and if we weren't interested, he would continue on his way to see something else if we had time. We were also lucky to have someone that was training with him, Simo Ghmari, who was great as well! They both were very helpful in every way possible and even went out with us to a bar. The Sahara night was truly unforgettable and so epic going up the dunes in camels. The camping (more like glamping) was great and the experience is something i will not forget. I would highly recommend this tour as long as you are prepared for a long time in the car. I would do this again, but maybe even a longer tour if i could.
I wanted to go from Fez to Marrakesh, and I picked this option based on the other reviews, which I found to hold up. Rather than repeat them, I'll add some comments that can't be found there. The guide, Hassan, was a gem: knowledgeable, professional, and wonderful to travel with. I can't speak highly enough of him. I also wanted to note that I'm a woman traveling alone and had a great experience. Finally, the desert is amazing and not to be missed - definitely a must-see if you're in Morocco!
It was a great three day trip from Fes to Marrakech. However, I wish they would have told us to pack water and other snacks for the trip. Also, the desert is extremely cold bring sweatpants and sweaters. Finally, the hotel we stayed at was not clean and would have preferred to stay somewhere else. Despite, this I would say the trip was worth it and would participate again.
Discover the best of Morocco on this 3-day tour from Fez to Marrakech. Pass by many attractions including the Atlas Mountains, the Ziz Oasis, the Dades Valley, and the Kasbahs of Skoura. Spend your evenings in a desert camp and local accommodations as you make your way through the desert with your small group.
If you're not looking to spend a fortune and do Chefchaoen on your own, this is the trip you want. Though we did have a guide who walked us through and showed the most picturesque spots, he didn't give us much information. (To be fair, I wasn't expecting a guide at all for this price point.) The ride there took nearly four hours, so unless this is a must-see on your list, you may want to stay in Rabat. My biggest complaint was having to wait nearly 45 minutes for the transportation to pick up up from our hotel. Other than that, everything went as expected.
With Sami we have explored various places in Morocco, visiting the most characteristic and less known places, otherwise difficult to reach and eating the typical dishes of the place all under the advice of our guide. The courtesy and availability of Sami guided us throughout the journey, satisfying our every need and request. Punctuality and availability at the top. In addition to the small town of chefchauen we traveled from Morocco to fez to Marrakech, spending a night in a Berber desert camp we reached with camels, giving us a unique experience in the world. The journey, even if long, was made pleasant by our guide who entertained us all the time. I thank infinitely Sami for the experience he has given us and I recommend him as a driver on your journey. In addition to a guide we found a friend. Thank you so much for everything

This guided tour completely made our trip! Omar was our driver and we liked him right from the start. He was incredibly warm and friendly, professional and on time. His Mercedes mini van was super comfortable and clean. He shared a lot of information with us and had great taste in music. We lived our riad trip with him. We also had two great local guides in Chefchaouen and Tangier. The riad we stayed in Chefchaouen was perfect- I loved it! I would recommend this tour to anyone!
We enjoyed our trip in Chefchaouen, Tétouan, and Tangier so much. JTT provided the best service. Omar was our driver, bodyguard, translator, guide, and a friend. He helped us and explained what he could offers from the locals. His recommendation on dinner at Chez Hicham where the dishes were so flavorful. We loved the pictures which he took for us. Thanks again to Omar a great guy and friend in Tangier, Morocco.

Trip was better than expected and the guides were simply amazing! Everything went extremely smooth and everyone involved constantly went above and beyond to make sure we were having a blast. Would very highly recommend!
This was a beautiful tour to the blue city from Tangier. The communication with the tour guide prior to the beginning of the tour was very helpful, the day before we received a confirmation that our scheduled pick up was on time by Nizar. Nizar took us from the hotel and was very kind and professional, he did all the necessary stops for coffee and clean bathrooms prior we reached our destination. He was also very accommodating with the music to make us feel the local vibe. At the blue city we were met by Omar who gave us a beautiful tour around the city, explained the history of the town, showed all the secret spots and made us feel very welcome. We met very nice people during this tour, enjoyed our lunch with an amazing view. We also had time to visit the white city and the amazing view in Tangier that were provided by Nizar on our way back. We are very happy for taking this tour and will definitely book again for more insights on local culture in our future visit to Morocco.
This was a trip my daughter and I really enjoyed. The city, its people, and the history were beautiful. Our driver guide was professional and friendly. Our city guide was knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. The price for the private guided tour day was reasonable.

The village is very nice and deserves to be visited, but it is a very long drive to get there and come back from Fes. We had a short walk in town with a local guide and I have to say unfortunately that I did not learn much from him. But he was good at pointing nice views to photograph and the rest of the group seem to enjoy. We had 2 hours left only to wonder in the village by ourselves. If you are used to group bus trips, you will enjoy this it. If not (such as me), there is got the be a better way to visit Chefchaouen.

Small-Group Full-Day Meknes and Volubilis Tour from Fez
Nice driver, but not really a "tour"
, Aug 2019
I was a bit unsure about how to write this review. For the positive, this tour is a convenient and comfortable way to get to Volubilis and Meknes from Fez. You get picked up and dropped off at your riad without problem and the van is comfortable and air conditioned. Volubilis is a cool site to see, and while it was nice stopping by Moulay and Meknes, these two places are maybe less exciting though still pleasant to visit. The driver was also incredibly nice and friendly.
However, there were a few downsides. First, the driver didn't really speak french or english very well. I was generally able to understand the gist of what he was saying, but I know others in the small group were struggling a bit. Additionally, the driver is pretty much just that - he is not a guide and did not provide us with specific history or accompany us through the sites. At Volubilis, you can choose to hire a guide at the site to walk you through the history, though I did not. In Meknes, the driver is not allowed to accompany you into the Medina because he is not licensed as a guide, so you are left to walk around on your own.
My general feedback is if you're simply looking for a ride to these different sites - this is a solid option, though more adventurous travelers could probably do the same visit for cheaper through a combination of train and shared taxis. If you are looking for a formally guided tour, then this isn't quite it.
