Ways to visit Inveraray Castle

You can purchase an admission ticket for the castle and gardens, or for the gardens only. Tours of the castle are self-guided, though guides stationed on each floor can answer questions. Inside, you’ll find tapestries, antique furnishings, china, silverware, and an impressive armory hall displaying more than 1,300 weapons, including muskets, axes, and dirks (a knife used by Scottish Highland soldiers).

Inveraray Castle is typically visited on tours from Glasgow, which usually stop at Oban, Glencoe, and Loch Lomond. Some excursions also cover castles in the Argyll and Bute region which include Kilchurn Castle and Castle Stalker. Multi-day tours of the Inner Hebrides (Skye, Islay, and Mull) and the Western Highlands also tend to stop at Inveraray Castle.

An excellent full day experience.
I enjoyed a wonderful day trip in Scotland with my daughter. This was not my first time booking with Viator and again the trip was awesome. The tour guide was right on time, friendly and knowledgeable making everyone feel important and included. The van we traveled in was one of the most comfortable vehicles I have been in. The castles and ruins in Scotland are beautiful, and the land is simply breathtaking. I would definitely recommend Viator excursions to friends and family.

Callum was a great guide! He’s personable and friendly, and had everyone feeling welcome right away. He was super knowledgeable and engaging, brought us right into the history. Plus the small tour size felt really manageable.

Standing Stones, Inveraray and Kilchurn Castles & Highland Tour starting Glasgow
My daughter and I had a great time with Callum, our guide and one other couple. It was nice to do a smaller tour, I felt like it was more personal. Callum was great answering questions and letting us explore. There was a bit of a hike up a hill, but the view was breathtaking and the story was so interesting.

Ask for Laura who was my tour guide. She was very friendly and knowledgeable of the areas we visited. This tour gives you a different perspective driving through the Highlands. I was able to visit two more castles and visit the Standing Stones. Our group did Outlander takes going through the stones.
