A most enjoyable and informative tour. Penang Hill and the funicular railway were very busy, but we had great views of Georgetown and across to Butterworth. Kek Lok Si temple was beautiful. We have seen a lot of temples, but this was by far the biggest and most beautiful. Our guide was very helpful, ensuring we had the best positions on the funicular and showing us the best spots for photographs. Thoroughly recommended.
I have done thhis tour previously and had the same tour guide again - Lawrence, he is a very good tour guide, his knowledge of the sights on the way to the temple and railway are excellent and he shares lots of information with you.
Only downer this time was we didn't go to the top at Kek Lok Si, not sure if it was a time thing or that last time it was only my wife and I on the tour, so unfortunately my son still hasn't been to the top to see the godess of mercy......I would recommend this tour to people visiting Penang for sure...
While we enjoyed this tour the itinerary was less comprehensive than advertised. Our visit to the temple was fairly short and we did not see the pool of longevity with the turtles and the visit to the Botanic gardens simply did not take place. When we asked the guide about this he said the gardens were only visited when the hill railway was closed for maintenance.

Our guide was smart, polite and very friendly, happy to answer any questions. Really looked forward to the railway trip to Penang Hill but hated being packed in like sardines. Felt very claustrophobic and couldn't see the view as we ascended or descended, which was disappointing. Very enjoyable and made more so by the guide's input.
Do not book this tour. You get taken to the bottom of the railway ride, asked for more money on the spot to join the Fast Lane which you will need as there will be a two hour wait for the 'regular' lane. We were informed prior to the tour commencing that the restaurant was overbooked even though the tour was confirmed at time of booking and another had been found. The replacement restaurant was a run down hovel with a very basic restaurant serving 3 hawker centre food. Absolute joke of a tour considering the experience costs upwards of 250 for 2 people.
Contrary to the advice on your website, the railway is closed until March. We only chose this trip for the railway. The Botanical Gardens was not a satisfactory substitute.
