A science museum focused on getting kids interested in the way things work, Scitech is home to several exhibits and experiences that appeal to young children, those in school, and adults. Features include a planetarium, films, and hands-on activities.
Scitech is located in West Perth, between the Central Business District and the popular suburb of Subiaco, making it easy to visit during a day of exploring the city. Tickets can be purchased online in advance to save time when you arrive.
The museum puts on at least two themed exhibitions every year. Examples include “Map Your World” and “Rescue”. The Puppet Theatre and Science Theatre entertain and educate through storytelling and films, while the planetarium features a dome theater for shows about planets and constellations.
Scitech can be reached via the Green CAT bus and the Fremantle train line to the City West station. The museum is about 1 mile (1.5 kilometers) northwest of the CBD. One hour of free parking is available; there is a fee for longer stays.
Scitech is open daily from mid-morning to early evening. The museum is busiest during Western Australia’s school holiday periods, which generally take place in December, January, April, July, and October.
Scitech’s gift shop is more than a typical museum store. You’ll find educational gifts that promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), including books, games, and experiment kits. The store can be accessed without paying admission to the museum.
