Joao took us on a wonderful tour of some amazing sights. Even though the weather was at times foggy he knew to wait for gaps so we missed nothing. Joao was engaging and enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of the Azores with us.
It was amazing. So many beautiful views. Our guide Fernando did all the best to make the trip even better. He has a deep knowledge about the island, he explained everything we need to know. But m9st importantly he is a good photographer, so if you want the pictures of you looking like postcards he is the guide to choose. We did a bit hiking, then there was a great lunch, so delicious.
Overall I didn't expected to see so much in just one day, the island so beautiful, even in December. Definitely worth coming!

Our guide picked us up at the cruise terminal. There were 8 of us total so we were in a van. It was a beautiful drive up to the Seven Cities with the driver pointing our sights of interest and answering any questions we had. We even had to slow down for a herd of cows crossing the road!! All the stops were beautiful and interesting. We had plenty of time for photos and to ask questions. We stopped at the pineapple plantation for a quick look at how they are grown indoors. Afterward a quick driving tour of the main town area ended the tour. Our guide was willing to drop those who wanted to downtown to shop and continued to the cruise terminal for those who wanted to go back to the ship. A great tour with a small group and wonderful guide. Anyone visiting this beautiful island should get out into the countryside to truely appreciate its beauty.

As she is a native to the Island, we were able to get to understand the life style and living conditions of the Island. It really made the tour more relevant for us. We recommend this tour and her!

Azores: Shore Excursion - Furnas volcano and hot springs
Really Great Experience
, Oct 2019
John, co-owner with his brother, was a really great guide. The van with 8 from our ship was clean and comfortable. The Furnas excursion was really interesting, well paced, and tons of fun. John was very willing to meet individual needs, answer questions... He is from the island and clearly loves it and did a great job of telling us about all the wonderful aspects of it. We got his card and if we go back will definitely contact him and use him again.

This excursion was both fun and educational. Our tour was hosted by a knowledgeable marine biologist, Lorenzo, who seemed to enjoy himself as much as we did. The boat was comfortable and equipped with underwater microphones, so we were able to both see and hear the sea life. We saw many, many dolphins and a pod of sperm whales. Lorenzo educated us about the life of these beautiful animals and the importance of respecting both them and the environment. Please know that this tour does not leave from Ponta Delgada, but from the nearby town of Villa Franca. The tour company will provide transportation from Ponta Delgada to their harbor at an additional cost. I used this service and greatly enjoyed the pleasant conversation with the staff.
Great tour! We saw so many dolphins and turtles and whales. I live by the beach in my hometown and have done many whale watching tours, but nothing I have ever seen compares to this. Definitely a must do in the Azores!
With sightings possible all year round, the Azores Islands are one of the best places for whale watching in the Atlantic. Set sail around the Princess Ring Islet of Vila Franca do Campo on a cruise, accompanied by a marine biologist guide, and look out for sperm and pilot whales, bottlenose and Risso’s dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life.

Find your history!
, Jan 2020
We were looking for family history and Carlos went above and beyond to show us villages where grandmother was from and saw much more than advertised. His knowledge of the area and history of the island was incredible. Fire lake and the two plantations were interesting and his information added to the enjoyment. A great way to see and learn about the island. Highly recommend for American tourists as Carlos is flueny is English
As he spent many years in the US and just fun to spend a day with.
Our guide, Carlos, enhanced our trip tenfold! His kind, gentle demeanor, historical knowledge and understanding of what we would enjoy made for a splendid day. He took us to Furnas where lunch was being prepared by local restaurants. Large pots of meat and vegetables are cooked by the steam from the active hot springs. His flexibility and intuition was so welcomed! I would highly recommend this for anyone with an Azorean trip planned!
A unique overlook over the center of island.
We will go up the tallest volcano, only accessible by car, so tall you will watch the vegetation get drier on the way. At the top gaze at the best view over its stunning caldera and lake. We are standing really high, so as sunnier it is the day the clearer will be the views.
On the north slope, you will have a access to the most tropical thermal pool in the island (entrance fee included). The pool is supplied by a warm water waterfall, surrounded by luxurious vegetation and the chants of birds. Afterwards we will find the tea plantation on the bottom of the slope, lines of green tea overlooking the ocean. Here you can taste the most amazing Azorean green tea, handpicked and traditionally crafted. We will head to the south slope and visit the oldest village on the island, and learn about it´s stone church and rock islet. If you tasted the tea we must end this experience with the king of the island, the most delicious pineapple in the world!

Absolutely fantastic tour!
, Dec 2019
We had heard about this tour from a recent traveler to Ponta Delgada. She had visited there 4 times and always toured with Delfin as her guide. Thus, we had high hopes that this would be a wonderful experience and we were not disappointed. Delfin cheerily greeted us as soon as we disembarked our cruise ship and immediately made us feel welcome on "his" island. As we drove around he expertly shared a great deal of the history with us, told us stories of the attractions, and stopped for amazing photo opportunities. At mid day he took us to a local pub where we met the owner and dined on delicious local dishes. He seemed to take every opportunity to show off this gorgeous island and provide us with local experiences. He also ensured us that he had a plan in place so that no cruiser should be concerned with missing their ship due to any unforeseen circumstance. We would definitely take this tour again and hope to return so that Delfin, or one of his team, can continue showing us the opportunities to explore this lovely island. Thank you Delfin and Alice!
It is hard to describe our experience with Telmo objectively without sounding like a deranged internet stalker - but our eight hour tour was flawless. He picked us up in a modern AWD Jeep and spontaneously tailored a tour to fit our tastes exactly - I got the impression that no two customers ever get the same experience, every booking is unique. The highlight was the hike up to the top of Faial de Terra, exploring the history of the abandoned village of Sanguinho, and the steep hike back down again. Our guide was humorous, personal, engaging and knowledgeable. Felt more like hanging out with a friend than a tour guide.
Discover the Azores at your own pace with a private full-day tour. Get picked up at your hotel and set off for a 4x4 adventure that can be customized according to your preferences. Skip the hassle of a rental car and learn about the island’s history from your guide.

, Jan 2020
Bruno was amazing. He was charming and informative. He was at the hotel on time. It was just 2 of us and he took us anyway. He wanted to be sure we had a good time and had a great experience on his island of San Miguel, Azores. As thiy is winter it gets dark earlier do we were unable to see the botanical gardens, but the rest of the expy was magical. Dinner was a traditional Azores meal prepared under ground on the hot steam. The restaurant was beautiful and the buffet had several options all delicious. After he took us to the thermal baths and I was do comfortable in the surrounding area that I immersef myself and LOVED IT! We drove around the area and stopped at different locations and Bruno wanted to cater to our comfort and needs. He should charge more as he goes above and beyond. Thanks Bruno.
What a unique experience when visiting Sao Miguel! Furnas is pretty far from Ponta Delgada, and I recommend the tour starting an hour earlier as it became a last night. But this tour goes well beyond just the Thermal Baths. Great views, interesting history, and wonderful tour guide, Bruno. For a picky eater the dinner was a little difficult, but definitely a true local experience. I was worried this tour would be all couples and it was far from. I highly recommend!
