Gastronomy Museum Prague Tours

The Gastronomy Museum in Prague opened in 2012 and presents the history of preparing and consuming food over the centuries. Covering two floors in a 14th century house, the museum’s main exhibit looks at the history of food preparation, from the domestication of fire and prehistoric fireplaces and methods of cooking without pots or utensils to cooking via hearthstone kitchens to modern day cooking with microwaves and convection ovens. Another exhibit focuses on the history of cutlery and table settings, as well as the basic rules of dining etiquette, while yet another explains the philosophy and recipes of top chefs. Most exhibits feature translations in multiple languages.

The museum also includes the Hall of Fame of Czech Gastronomy and Hospitality, recognizing important Czech chefs, confectioners, writers and hoteliers.

In addition to the exhibits, the museum offers a variety of classes and tastings, and daily museum tours include a tasting of mead and sweet meringue kisses.
