Puerto Quetzal Shore Excursion: Colonial Antigua City Highlights
, Feb 2020
Juan Pablo gave us an in-depth history of the geography, culture and history of this part of Guatemala -- it was particularly interesting to hear about past volcanic eruptions while looking at puffs of smoke coming out of a distant active volcano! This was our second visit to Antigua, but since it is such an interesting and lovely little town, we were happy to come again. We enjoyed a lunch of a sampling of various Maya specialties, so we really got a feel for the gastronomy as well. Would recommend this tour.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. As a native, he knew special stories and information that he shared in a colorful way. He interviewed some of the sidewalk peddlers and described their heritage with us. Antigua came alive with his interpretive descriptions and history. Our ride to Antiqua was filled with history and stories. A great tour.

Antigua History Private Tour with Amazing Lunch Stop

Picked up on time by our driver Nixon and tour guide Armando. Armando had a lot of knowledge to share with us and was very flexible to accommodate our group. Good natured and good humored, we enjoyed our time and experience with Armando and Nixon and would recommend this tour highly and found the cost reasonable and the van comfy and nicely air conditioned.
Moises, our tour guide and Nixon, our driver made our tour very enjoyable. In addition to the stated tour, Moises offered us the option of checking out some places with wonderful views. He also recommended a lovely restaurant for lunch.
the guide was well educated and polite. The pick up was punctual, the transport vehicle was good. We saw everything we wanted to see and more. there were a guide and a driver,so the guide could concentrate on us( we were a group of six)Antigua ,being an UNESCO heritage site still retained its colonial characteristics. One of them was the road paved with cobbled stones, which made the ride very uncomfortable. We had lunch in a local cafe. Food was good but no WIFI.WE enjoyed the trip. Even the front desk staff was nice, Bryon helped us a lot when NCL unexpected changed the date for the Antigua visit. Thanks everyone.

A reliable transport company we have recommended for 4 years. They will stop for toilet breaks if needed. The shuttles are clean and comfortable and never over crowded. Enoy the airconditioning. There are roof racks for surf boards at no extra cost and with prior knowledge the only shuttle company that will take dogs. Simply relax as you pass up close to the volcanoes and enjoy the scenery.
Puerto Quetzal Shore Excursion: Antigua, Jade Museum & Factory
Tour Left Without Us

When we booked this tour I told the company that our ship did not dock until 8:00 am and that it would take some time to get off the ship. At 8:20 someone from Viator called me on my cell phone to ask me where I was. I told them that we weren't allowed to disembark yet. She said that everyone else had and didn't know why my group wasn't there. Turns out she had us disembarking off of a Azamara ship and not Oceania. When we got to shore Viator scrambled around trying to figure out what was going on. They finally put us on another tour and off we went. The condition of the van was abysmal and several people complained about the lack of suspension on the car and the driver's competence in navigating the pot holes. My husband's back went out because of it and when he complained, Viator sent another newer van for the trip back. The tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The only thing was that he did not wait for the older, slower people to catch up on the walking tour. I would not recommend this tour company.
Head to shore and experience the beauty and wonder of colonial Antigua on a tour of this historic city. Your friendly guide will lead you on a memorable shore excursion walking tour that includes visits to some of the city’s most famous highlights, like La Merced Church, as well as expert commentary and local insights.
Puerto Quetzal Shore Excursion: Thermal Circuit and Hot Springs with Lunch
, Oct 2019
Although the tour was scheduled for 8:15, the tour company was able to accommodate our ship's 10:00 arrival time. We were welcomed as promised right at the cruise port. There were only six of us on our Toyota van. Very comfortable. The hour drive to the resort was uneventful. The resort is beautiful. Very quickly we were able to change into swimsuits and secure our bags. The thermal suite is awesome. We were escorted through the 4 different pools with differing temperatures. At the half way point they brought smoothies which were included in our tour. My hubby booked a massage which was extra but reasonable. The pool circuit takes about an hour. My hubby was escorted to his massage and I was directed to a beautiful jacuzzi area. The mountain breezes made the temperature very comfortable. My hubby raved about his massage, and we were directed to an area where lunch was served ~ also included in the tour. We chose grilled chicken. it was served with fresh guacamole, plantain, salsa, and grilled corn on the cob. Delicious. Too soon it was time to be driven back to the ship. This is an excursion that we would recommend to anyone, and even do again if we return to Guatemala. The only negative is that the tour company did not return our messages prior to the tour, which led to concern about the trip.
Add some relaxation time to your shore excursion in Guatemala during this 8-hour trip to the country’s Kawilal Hot Springs. This sprawling spa complex, which uses waters heated by the warmth of nearby Pacaya Volcano, offers a wealth of thermal pools, a thermal circuit, steam baths and hydrotherapy. Soak away your aches in the spa’s warming waters, or choose to add a massage, manicure or pedicure to your visit (at your own expense). You’ll also have time to fuel up with some food at the on-site restaurant. This Kawilal shore excursion covers lunch and round-trip port transport.
