Every part of the day trip was fantastic!! The crew was amazing, they served a great lunch, great drinks & both stops were perfect!! I highly recommend!! We had a fun bunch of people on our boat, everyone was full of energy & having a good time. My first time snorkeling & it was intense & gorgeous! A memory I will never forget. Gonna try to come back & bring my sisters to experience it!
Culebra day trip was cancelled due to very strong of winds, making the crossing dangerous. But they were very accommodating switching us to the day trip to Icacos Private islands on a days notice. Had a great time, awesome snorkeling, fun captain and crew
Trip was fine but more importantly, I left my bikini on the boat and called the company NUMEROUS times but did not hear back. At all. Incredible. I cannot refer or trust a company that does not respond to their customers and help them with lost items (which I'm sure is a common occurrence).
Cruise by high-speed catamaran to Culebra from Fajardo for a fun-filled day trip snorkeling, beach combing and sunbathing on this island paradise. Spend your morning exploring the fascinating undersea creatures that populate the island’s coral reefs before enjoying a buffet lunch complete with rum punch and piña colada refreshments. Then take the afternoon to relax and swim on the area’s perfect sugar-sand beaches, including Playa Flamenco and nearby Culebrita. Your excursion also includes snorkel equipment and offers optional round-trip transportation from hotels in Old San Juan, Condado or Isla Verde.
Amazing experience. We did transport which was on time for pickup and dropoff there and back. Crew was awesome- fun and amazingly attentive. Drinks and food were great. Snorkeling was decent and the beach was fun- lots of locals pull up and have music playing which we danced to. Would recommend to anyone- we had families, couples, bachelorette parties aboard.
Get a taste of island life during this full-day catamaran cruise and snorkeling trip to a nearby nature reserve, where you explore the tropical isle of Icacos. Pretend you’re Jacques Cousteau as you snorkel among the area’s fantastic marine life, then stroll the deserted beaches of a protected island for some shell hunting and sunbathing. Along the way enjoy a buffet lunch, with included rum punch or piña coladas, plus optional hotel pickup and drop-off from select properties in San Juan.
Live out your island castaway fantasies aboard a luxury catamaran as you visit the deserted tropical island of Cayo Icacos from San Juan on this half-day sailing cruise. Sail into the aquamarine waters of the Caribbean, admiring views of the El Yunque mountains in the distance, before arriving at the nature preserve of Icacos for a leisurely day of swimming, snorkeling, and a lunch buffet with drinks.
El Yunque Rainforest Off the Beaten Path and Bio Bay Kayaking Combo Tour
EL YUNQUE IS A MUST
, Feb 2020
El Yunque: Andres was an amazing tour guide! Very informative, friendly, funny & supportive. Took tons of awesome pictures & Airdropped/What's App to everyone. Mitchell was great, too-- super helpful on the hike (& quite the daredevil with the cliff jumps!). Fresh fruit was a nice touch!
Was nice to have lunch & downtime at Luquillo Beach. Good tips on how to use our hour & a half.
Bio Bay: Have to say I was not very impressed, but that's not Bespoke's fault! There was not much bioluminescence. Anyway- this part of the tour is basically just a transfer to another company
Van was nice. Good communication. Pick up/drop off on time.
Jacob and Felix were both wonderful tour guides. The rainforest tour was superb but not for those who aren’t used to at least moderate difficult hiking (we encountered muddy, slippery terrain, and climbed over rocks and tree roots to the top of El Yunque) so I’d suggest to wear hiking shoes! Jacob was very accommodating and I learned a lot about the vegetation and history of the rain forest. The bio bay tour although well organized was less impressive as the plankton were only minimally bioluminescent and could only be seen with a black tarp covering us. Overall, great experience though!
Spend an adventurous day exploring two of Puerto’s most incredible natural wonders on this full-day excursion to hike in the El Yunque Rainforest and kayak at the island’s famed Bioluminescent Bay. Start your morning with a hike in the only tropical rain forest in the United States National Forest system, enjoying incredible mountain views and an optional waterfall swim to cool off. Then continue with a nighttime kayaking trip to the magical Bioluminescent Bay, which features a unique variety of plankton that glow when the water is touched or moved. Your Puerto Rico outdoor adventure also includes round-trip hotel transport, professional guide, and national park fees.
Fun day in the sun! Basic but tasty lunch, plenty of drinks, snorkel gear and some beach time. Be prepared to get wet on the way to snorkel if you are in the back of the boat!!! Wish I would have had more time at the beach but was a great day trip!
This was an AMAZING tour! The crew was super kind and helpful during the whole day. If you want a tour that is fun, lively, and informative definitely book this tour. Flamenco beach was breathtaking! The only negative was not knowing what time to be ready for pickup. Though I did book it at 2AM that morning, I was hoping to see the times listed throughout the booking process. I think that information would definitely be beneficial for people that may book after business hours. Thanks so much Ken and crew for a great day at sea.
Save money and get a rounded experience of island life on this full-day tour from Fajardo to Culebra Island. Embark on a boat ride through open waters to the island of Culebra where you can snorkel the reefs and see diverse marine life, or simply hang out on the beaches while the boat crew provides complimentary tropical drinks and buffet-style lunch.
not for experienced hikers, but worth the money to not have to plan one of your days out.
, Dec 2019
This tour is good for families! I'll give a pro and con list.
Your whole day is planned out.
The rain forest was beautiful.
Your tour guides are friendly, especially Luis.
The sights and views are amazing.
You get to meet new people!
The kayaking, make sure its a cloudy day because you can see the bio better that way!
I'm an experienced hiker, so for me, this was not 100% amazing. I felt like the tour guides were more like mothers and treated you like children more than anything. This for me was the biggest downfall, because who likes that? It felt rushed. When we were going up the sides of the rocks at the waterfall, not only did they tell you not to go explore, which the other tour group within the same company was doing, but they told you that you could only jump once then wait. I clearly didn't lol, but It just wasnt the let go kinda thing I wanted. I felt they pressured people and made us thin k we needed to listen to them at all times, even in the safe areas. And that wasn't okay... It def took away from the whole experience.
The tour guides although nice, are not personal at all. This trip to PR for me was my first Solo Trip. I depended on the locals to be a back bone for the good and bad places to go ect. The tour guide Jamie asked me more than three times the same question and got the same response... the tour guide Jamie also when I went to talk to her, yes she's friendly, but she was not personal at all. To me it felt like a very money wanting tour just based on the fact none of the tour guides took it the extra step when I told them I was alone, to at least try and make me feel at home, and also the fast paced of the tour. You couldn't 110% enjoy it because of this. Jamie made me feel like I was bothering her when I talked to her, so I eventually stopped.
Def depends on who you go with and who is on the tour bus with you. People can be unfriendly which is anywhere you go, but jsyk.
Is it worth the money? If you're a beginner hiker going with a family or with friends, absolutely. If you're going solo or are an experienced hiker, wanderlust kinda person like me, I would not recommend it. My experience would've definitely been different if it was an outgoing group or/and outgoing driver. Also the waterfall thing.. I felt this def made the trip not worth the money spent.
Hope this helps!
Nicole was awesome. She was very kind and always being ready to help me. She also knows a lot about Puerto Rico which helped me to understand about it since was my first time in there. I highly recommend her.
Experience two of the greatest natural attractions in Puerto Rico, all in one day! Island Journeys has teamed up with Puerto Rico’s top Bio Bay Operators to provide you this full-day package, bringing you the best of the East Coast! SAVE BIG and take the guesswork out of your planning with this all inclusive tour including: Round Trip Transportation, Fully Guided Rainforest Tour, and the World Famous Bio Bay Kayak Tour.
El Yunque is without a doubt Puerto Rico’s greatest Natural Wonder. It is the only Tropical Rainforest, and the most studied Forest, in the United States National Forest System. It is the most biologically diverse forest, hosting hundreds of plants and animals, some only found here in Puerto Rico!
Bioluminescence is one of planet Earth’s best kept secrets. Tiny organisms called “dinoflagellates” make the water glow at night and fortunately, they have found the perfect place to live in the Fajardo Bio Bay, so we are able to experience them all year round.
Andre was very helpful. Knowledgeable, pleasant. Mitchell was solid. Great with assists and was a great assistant to Andre. I gave it five stars. Perhaps more should be stated about the risk of injury. We were not injured but wet shoes and rocks pose a risk of harm. Also, the actual "hike" is pretty short.
Our day couldn't have been better! We had gorgeous weather, and it was an unforgettable experience. We spent most of our time in the water, jumping near waterfalls and swimming in natural pools. We usually go hiking on our vacations, and I would say this is a little bit of hiking and more rock scrambling and swimming. The nature was gorgeous but the guides really made the experience next-level. They were super knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, very safe and responsible, but also fun! They even took some great pictures for us while we were jumping into the water. This experience really made our trip special - highly recommend.
Fernando and Ponce were terrific! They were engaging, helpful and made me and the entire group feel safe and cared for throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this excursion if you are in somewhat decent shape and love to explore and do thrilling things. Jumping off a cliff / the natural water slides and rope swing were definitely the highlights of this trip. Not to mention the gorgeous scenery of the plants, waterfalls and rivers. Loved the whole thing!
Feel like a true Puerto Rican explorer during this day of "off-the-beaten path" discovery in El Yunque rainforest. Avoid the big crowds from the cruise ships and hotels as you blaze a trail to the lesser-known attractions of this lush tropical eden. Admire gorgeous orchids, exotic birds and wildlife like the Coquí (tree frog) as you hike to secret waterfalls and hidden swimming spots, enjoying your secluded adventure amidst the fresh air and beautiful scenery of this Puerto Rican paradise. National park fees, plus round-trip hotel transport, are included.
Our tour was wonderful! Although the moon was too bright to really see the bioluminescent microorganisms, the 6:00 PM tour was perfect to kayak and see the sunset. Additionally, the tour guide had a tarp to create more darkness, and we could see the microorganisms a little bit. My friends and I didn't have any expectations going into it, so my advice is not to google pictures of what it should look like! Photoshop is a real thing, people!
The guides were so helpful, kind, and accommodating! The experience itself was gorgeous. Even though there was a big moon, we still got to see the bioluminescence, but the best part was just being out on the water in the dark. So cool.
The staff were very friendly, kept everyone together as a group, and made the tour as enjoyable and educational as possible. Wear bug spray to keep the mosquitoes away! It's surprising how bright the moon can be even when not full, so it helped when the staff used the tarp to make it darker to really see the bioluminescence. Don't expect it to be as bright as online pictures, but it's still a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Experience one of the most magical natural phenomenons in Puerto Rico during a kayak tour of a bioluminescent lagoon. Exploring in a kayak lets you get closer to the illuminated plankton, which produce blue-green light every time you move through the water with your paddle and kayak.
This was a great way to learn a little history and enjoy great food.
Linelle was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable, conscientious and was very good about keeping us on schedule. I wish I had done something like this the first time I had visited San Juan.
Guide was Danny. High energy. Perhaps more than necessary---however, he recognizes this but unable to rein it in. Intends to provide a topis experience. For a first time visitor, this is a good introduction---got to make our own mofongo. For someone more experienced with PR cuisine, this may be too introductory.
Get a taste for the flavor and culture of Puerto Rico on this small-group Old San Juan food tour featuring several local eateries. Join your guide for a culinary exploration of island staples like plantains and sofrito, all with the cobblestone streets and colorful facades of the city’s oldest neighborhood as your backdrop. Your tour includes an alcoholic beverage or non-alcoholic substitute if you prefer.
It started raining as soon as we got in the kayaks and we were drenched for the rest of the trip. Had to row into 15 mph winds for five minutes or so and it was hard to keep up and even see the rest of the group because it was so dark. Water doesn’t look like the pics u see online. It lights up when you stir up water with hand or paddle. It was cool to see but we don’t care to o go again.
It was tour which I will remember in my life. The tour guides Michelle and Yan are awesome and very friendly. As we are travelling with kids ( of ages 8-11) , Micghelle and Yan took the kids in thier Kayak to the Bio.They made the whole Bio tour very comfortable and Enjoyable experience for our whole family.

Absolutely loved the night Kayacking. Robert and Odla were very informative and helpful. Lot of fun. Not a lot of sea life to be seen, but still a very enjoyable experience. I would recommend to everyone.
My girlfriend and I book the trip last minute and were able to get accomodated.
Our host for host for the trip were Lue and Lorenzo! They had a great senses of humor, gave great instructions and were really cool..
They really let us experience the adventure without to many rules while keeping us safe.
The face paint and glow lights were a great touch. We got some good pictures and a great work out.
This was our first time kayaking and I'm sure it wouldnt be our last!
We had an absolute blast on this excursion and would recommend to anyone staying in the Condado area! All the guys on the 9pm excursion last night (1/27/20): Olda, Brian & Andreas! Thankyou for the very unique experience!
Paddle through Condado Lagoon at night in a kayak lit up by LED lights. Enjoy views of the city lit up for the night, as well as views under the water through the clear-bottom kayaks lit up by the LEDs. This unusual experience is led by a guide who will provide all navigation and narrative as you paddle. Get nighttime views of active marine animals such as lobsters, stingrays, and giant starfish. Get there early to grab a glow stick or cover yourself in glow-in-the-dark paint.
Raise a glass of Puerto Rico’s finest rum during this 90-minute tasting session and distillery tour at San Juan’s world-famous Casa Bacardí. All entrance fees, a guide, welcome cocktails, a commemorative cup and a certificate of completion are included.
As a native Puertorican, I am so proud of our culture and history and can’t enough of it. ThIs was my second time taking David’s tour. I loved the first experience, approximately 4 years ago, so much I wanted to share it with my boyfriend (who is not Puertorican) this trip. Highly recommend to everyone! David is knowledgeable, witty and so pleasant. And awesome tour - wear comfortable shoes and get ready to learn and fall in love with PR!
David was a good guide, he even gave us each a bottle of water and a frame in a gift bag to start our day! There were only 6 in our group so it was easy to stay together or ask questions. It would have been nice to allow a little more time to take photos, but we did go back and take them ourselves later.
Explore the colorful buildings and charming streets of Old San Juan in a small group with the help of writer David Rodriguez, author of ‘The Rise and Fall of the Great Barbate.’ During the course of your day, the knowledgeable author helps you discover the area’s key historic sites and gain new insight into Puerto Rican culture. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the many stories of the people who helped to define this unique neighborhood. Your walking trip’s length is flexible based on your needs, and also includes bottled water.
I thought the leader of the trip was great and very knowledgeable. The excursion itself leaves a little to be desired though. I didn't know exactly where we were meeting until I called (quick answer - a bonus!). I was told people would start gathering around 8:30 pm. There was no exact time of departure and I had no idea who to look for. They don't leave from where everyone else does because of permitting issues. Also, halfway through, you stop, they drag your kayaks across to the lagoon and then you continue. The moon was almost full so, we really didn't see anything. They brought a tarp so that we could see a little of the bioluminescence. The kayaking was more exciting than the glowing. I wish we would have kayaked further to make up for the lack of seeing anything cool. Night kayaking under the moon would have been great. Trying to see organisms underneath a smelly tarp - not so much. I probably wouldn't do this tour again. I would if it included kayaking the whole lagoon and not a 15 minute journey to and from.
We took the tour with ian and Kyle on dec 21. They had said in the email that we could change into our swimsuits in the nearby restaurant, but we went there they seemed very confused and definitely wanted us to buy something. The guides tried to tell some jokes, which did not always go over well, but overall they looked after us and gave a good explanation of the science. It was cool to see but it seems like it was better in previous years. I did appreciate that we could squeeze the three of us on 1 kayak. It was annoying that our group had to go second so the cruise ship people could get back to their boat. I was just a tad chilly on the water so don't go in just a swimsuit.
Laguna Grande, also known as “The Bio Bay”, has long been the most sought after attraction for visitors of Puerto Rico. Touted by most as an “indescribable” experience, let the magic of the bioluminescence sparkle and dance in the water beneath you. Allow professional guides to walk you through safety, a crash course in kayaking, and then assist you into your vessel. We will guide you into Laguna Grande amongst the nature of mangroves, birds, iguanas, and even the occasional star fish to be seen. All the while dazzling you with knowledge of the history, nature, and ecosystem that creates this wonder of the world.
Check-in varies throughout the year with the sunset. Tour length is typically 2 hours.
Let me show you MY island! (with visit to El Yunque)
An easy journey to El Yunque and back with some surprises!
, Feb 2020
Luis picked us up at our hotel and with only 2 other participants gave us an as promised wonderful tour. He gave us ample opportunity if we wanted it to take photos, provided us with insight into the various sights during our journey and was considerate of our needs. Giving us lots of historical info during our drive and after stops in Old San Juan and Condado Luis took us on a brief adventure to an old and interesting cave on our way to El Yunque
Once there he led us down an easy path to a small apparently private area where swimming was possible together with some locals. While we didn’t indulge, the young woman who with her mother shared the tour with us was thrilled to participate and we enjoyed watching. Our final experience was at a small roadside snack bar where we enjoyed wonderful local food and smoothies at bargain prices. A great experience!
We saw so much of the beautiful San Juan area in a short time. This sampler, -- which included a drive through the old town and past the fortress, with stops at a rain forest, a cave and a roadside stand for some local specialties -- left us wanting more. Noemi was a brilliant and engaging guide who was full of knowledge and pride in the island and its heritage. We only wish it could have been an hour longer, to allow time to get out at the fortress or walk through the old town or drive along the coast. Guess we'll just have to go back.
This was a great tour. It started with Noami picking us up at the cruise terminal. It was so nice that our luggage could come with us. The tour included a little of everything including history, government, highlights in Old San Juan , other cities in Puerto Rico, viewing a beach , walking through a cave, and wading in the river at El Yunque rain forest. We stopped for authentic Puerto Rican food for lunch. I especially enjoyed the tidbits of information regarding Puerto Rican life. Our guide was very knowledgable and could readily answer questions. At the end of the tour we were dropped off at out hotel which was so very nice. Great way to see some of Puerto Rico !

Your small group is limited to just 14 people for an intimate atmosphere.
Luquillo Beach Horse Ride from Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park
riding along luquillo beach
, Feb 2020
Outstanding. Delivers all that one expects. Guide was Juan. Upbeat, pleasant, humorous, great energy. So lucky to have had this experience. Organized. Great ride along luquillo beach. Highly, highly recommended.
What a great place, the venue is lovely, with so much to do. We had a nice lunch and then embarked on our tour. Our guide was Jonathan E (or no.2), informative, friendly, told us tales and stories and felt very comfortable with him. We took the beach horse riding tour which was absolutely beautiful. The horses are easy to ride, if anything, we would gave liked it to be a little faster paced but understand that it is to suit people that have never been on a horse before. Nonetheless, we had a great afternoon and would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to see a more natural side of puerto rico.
Juan was such a good sport for our horseback excursion. My mother, sister, and I had never rode horses before and he took his time to ensure we were safe, but most of all, had fun! Once we all got comfortable, it was an incredible experience! They did request for us to check in 45 min prior, however, I felt that it wasn't needed because we waited the entire time up until the excursion started doing nothing so maybe 15min next time. Overall, a fun, thrilling experience!
Enjoy a scenic horseback-riding adventure through the forests, beaches and rivers of Puerto Rico on this 2.5-hour trip. Gallop through the crystal-clear waters of the Mameyes River and through the forest to reach Luquillo Beach, where you’ll have time to relax with swimming, sunbathing and cocktails. Riders of all experience levels are welcome.
Float past hundreds of years of history and picturesque scenery during this 2-hour sunset sailing excursion in Old San Juan Harbor. Climb aboard the "Amazing Grace," a topsail schooner fashioned in the style of 19th-century American sailing vessels, for an unforgettable ride past the wonders of this historic area. As you sail you’ll enjoy up-close views of Old San Juan sights like El Morro fortress, La Fortaleza, Paseo la Princesa and more, all set aglow by the fading late afternoon light. A guide and complimentary beverages and snacks are all covered.
Rachel gave very good instructions and checked with group to enhance our experience. My mask would not seal 100% due to mustache and they did not have enhanced mask for people who have to remove glasses. Truck was hard to find in big beach . Water was cloudy due to high seas so visibility was low-not their issue. Our group of 5 still had fun -confidence builder for new snorkelers
My boyfriend and I saw this on aviator. For the 2 of us, it was about $120. Great deal, Hallie was our instructor. It was a great first time experience for the both of us and will definitely recommend! Great time!

Bioluminescent Bay Night Kayaking & Rainforest Tour Combo
, Jan 2020
This was the perfect way to end our day. We were not the least bit disappointed in the bioluminescence. How amazing it was! The tour was very well organized, the staff were most pleasant, and everything went smoothly.
This combination tour includes a visit to El Yunque National Forest and a nighttime kayaking tour of Laguna Grande, a bioluminescent bay. Stroll a walkway the winds through the treetops of the forest canopy. After a leisurely lunch (and time for shopping), travel to Laguna Grande to witness the unique phenomenon of bioluminescence.
Bioluminescent Bay Glass Bottom Kayak Tour from San Juan
Less than amazing
, Jan 2020
The best part of the excursion was kayaking in the dark (which is not saying much) The tour was disorganized and they don’t ensure everyone is accounted for. Our group was confused where to go and the kayak trip there and back was chaos. It was 90 minutes with about 20 min at the spot where they plankton light up. Total duration from door to door is approx 5.5 hours. Unless you really love plankton then I would suggest skipping this tour and using your time to do something else.
I had originally booked the combo tour of hiking in Yunque and then the kayak, but the hike was cancelled due to weather conditions. I was rebooked for the kayak tour the morning of. The communication from the team was great and the rescheduling was great. I was picked up on time and we traveled about an hour by bus to the spot. The guides were great to accommodate and get every situated.
I was a solo traveler and was paired up with a guide for the glass bottom boat. I wasn’t given a paddle, which at first was a bit disappointing, but ended up being great in the end. Not having to paddle allowed me to really experience the bioluminescent glow.
Manage your expectations - pictures online are prominent in colors and light due to the cameras. So if you go expecting that, you may be disappointed. The glass bottom looked like a million shooting stars. Once in the bay, they covered our kayaks with tarps to show the effects in true darkness. This was great and allowed the phenomenon to really shine (literally).
The last thing I would say is to understand your cost. You’re getting picked up from your hotel, on a bus for two hours round trip, and on the water for almost 2 hours in a private park. The price is spot on for what you get.
I wish the hike would have happened, but was thankful I got to experience this at a minimum. Highly recommend if you’re going to see it once in your life.
Join a nighttime adventure into the waters of Laguna Grande as you visit the area’s amazing bioluminescent bay during this half-day excursion. Hop aboard a clear-bottomed kayak as you paddle through the dense mangrove forests, heading to the area where the microscopic plankton puts on its surreal aquatic light show when you glide through the water. Your professional guide also tells you more about this fragile ecosystem and how visitors can help protect it.
The tour guide did an excellent job talking us to all of the popular spots in the rain forest. He was very knowledgeable regarding plants, but he took a little too long exploring flora in the parking lot before we even got started. I wish we could have spent a little more time hiking in the rain forest, instead of just driving from spot to spot.
Discover the natural wonders of El Yunque Rainforest on this laid-back half-day exploration from San Juan. Visit a beautiful waterfall, incredible views and more than 240 species of plants and animals that call this sub-tropical habitat home. Your Puerto Rico rain forest tour also includes round-trip transportation from most hotels in San Juan, professional guide and all park entrance fees.
Super fun day learning 'the ropes' with guides Luis and Yariel. We felt very safe and secure with their comprehensive instructions and assistance. As we became more comfortable using the ziplines, they added extra challenges and strategies that helped us have even more fun. Would recommend this tour for anyone, it was a great experience.
I was the only one ziplining at the time . My guys were AWESOME ! I'm very adventurous but can be scared hence my activity . But they had me try other ways to have safe fun ,all while reassuring me I can do it . I Enjoyed every min . Thanks for a great first time experience!!
We had amazing time zip lining through canopy of the El Yunque forest. The guides were knowledgeable and funny! They took us on a tour of the forest and then for a ride of a life time! This a must do excursion!
Zip down 11 lines through the forest canopy, rappel from a treetop, and take a dip in three natural pools on this 5-hour adventure from San Juan. Use of all equipment and round-trip hotel transportation included. Choice of several departure times.
Full-Day Culebra and Flamenco Beach Snorkeling from San Juan
Pros & Cons
, Jan 2020
There were a few pros & cons of the trip. Pros, friendly staff, very helpful, the beaches are of course beautiful, and I really enjoyed snorkeling, the reefs and seaweed were mostly brown but, there were plenty of colorful little fish to see and we even saw two stingrays! the Cons, unfortunately, were enough that I wouldn't book this again. My boyfriend and I chose the option of pickup, nice driver, nice private vehicle but WAY WAY to early. we were picked up at 0730, and the boat isn't even scheduled to leave till 0930. It's only an hour drive so sitting there waiting for the boat to take off was frustrating to say the least. The driver was nice and brought us to a subway for the bathroom and some breakfast to kill time but I wouldve rather slept in. The boat finally took off at 0940, we got to the snorkeling spot about 1045, they did some safety lesson and set up lunch and the open bar. we stayed there till 1200 and were at flamenco beach by 1215. keep in mind that the boat has to dock decently far from the beach about 50ft. So if you want to bring personal items, like your phone to take pictures, bring a good dry bag. Or be willing to buy an overpriced one from the boat. My boyfriend and I knew in advance because we read the majority of views, but I think it's kind of crappy that the company doesn't tell you that themselves. They only gave us till 1400 at the beach and since you have to swim there and back, & go over another safety briefing it felt like we had absolutely no time left on the beach. we were back at the dock by 1530 and home an hour later. If we had realized how much waiting the day would be, and how little beach time we would get we would've just taken the ferry in and spent our money more wisely. Also, we should've anticipated this but it definitely had a party vibe, good for a big group of friends. For a couple that had to wake up at 0630 and was exhausted and irritated about all the hours spent waiting, we weren't happy.
The tour was underwhelming - especially the snorkeling. Lunch was served super early (around 10:45 am) during the snorkeling portion, so depending on how long you took to eat, you really only had about 30-40 mins of snorkeling. However, you didn’t even need that much time because there wasn’t much to see.
Once we arrived at Flamenco Beach, the boat could not get close and you had to swim a pretty decent distance to the beach (which meant, unless you had a dry bag, you couldn’t bring anything on the beach - no towel, no phone, etc.). REALLY wish that had been made clear beforehand. That would be a huge issue for someone not comfortable with swimming in the open ocean. We had about an hour on Flamenco Beach.
Do Culebra on your own time for a better experience - we spent significantly more time commuting to and from than we did actually enjoying the beach.
If you are hesitant about the spending the money don't be! This was our most favorite tour from the trip. It is worth the money and you will not be disappointed. Our driver Francisco was amazing and Bespoke Management was the best. I would book more tours directly with them. The boat ride was a little long on the way back but we got to snorkel near the coral at one stop and then the next was at Flamenco Beach. Perfect day! We would do this tour again for sure.
Combine visits to Flamenco and Culebra beaches, two of the San Juan area's best, on this guided tour via speedboat. Learn about the area's marine life and environment from your guide between relaxing on the beach or exploring the underwater world with a provided mask and snorkel.
