Great access to the Colosseum. Prepare to spend more time after the tour with Palantine Hill and the Forum. The tour only covers a portion of Palantine Hill and the Forum. Not the fault of the tour, just that both have so much to see. My tour ran from 11:30 to 2:30. But I stayed on Palantine Hill and the Forum until they kicked me out around 6:15.
A hugely informative tour with a great guide who is an architect/archeologist and clearly loves and has such a passion for the Roman ruins. We did wait for a short time in line to get into the Colosseum, but that was a factor of the security. This tour took the group down to the lower level and it was great to see and hear all that the Colosseum has to offer. The lower part is not open to the general public, so not only do you see a portion that most cannot see, it was not crowded either. Plan on standing the entirety of the tour 3 hours, wear comfortable shoes - ones that are okay for uneven flooring and stairs. The Roman Forum portion was great also with tons of information that one could only get with a lot of research. Highly recommended.
Definitely the way to see the Colosseum and Forum! The crowds were daunting but we did not have to stand in line and just met the guide at a designated spot. Be sure to allow plenty of time to get to the Colessum and find your tour. Our guide was wonderful--calm, patient, very knowledgeable and the tour was small enough that we could all stay with her. We did this tour on our first day day in Rome, and after this great introduction to the whole area, we went back to the sites around the Colesseum on our own a couple of times during the following days.
Strongly recommended to go with the Upgrade options with guided underground and arena visit. Details and interactive info/history by our guide. Breath-taking view inside underground of Colosseum.
Our tour guide, Emanuella, was really knowledgeable and also really fun. We enjoyed especially the views of the Roman forum and surroundings from the Palatine hill. Colosseum is also amazing. The tour is a must when visiting Rome.
Great experience with an excellent and knowledgeable guide who really added a lot of information to the colosseum, forum and palantine. Access to the restricted areas also means you can avoid a lot of the crowds inside the colosseum.
Rosie was an amazing guide, full of information and with the loveliest nature.
I would not hesitate to recommend this tour, it just left us all wanting to see and learn more about Ancient Rome.
Well worth it to skip the lines at the Colosseum and to go to all levels and to understand the structure of the Forum and the hills beyond.
I thought it might be too tiring for my 10 year old son but it wasn't, he loved it.
Our best day in Rome.
Great tour guide and a great way to learn about all the history and architecture of the Colosseum. Without a tour guide, you won't really understand or appreciate all the history. Also, our tour guide had some visuals for us to help understand how the ruins originally looked when built. Definitely a great way to learn and experience the life and culture. This is an audio tour with an active tour guide, which is perfect. You won't have to worry about trying to hear the tour guide if they're walking further ahead of you. Highly recommend it.
Great and informative tour. Spent the beginning half in the Colosseum learning all about the structure, the events and the people from way back when. We then went and saw the other Roman structures nearby. The guide was great in giving us great details of everyday life and the different time-frames and how the area changed over time. Loved it.
Maura was an excellent guide for the Colosseum tour! We learned a lot from her and she made it fun and interesting. Be prepared to walk and wear comfortable shoes as it and #39;s a good 3 hours long. Also bring an empty water bottle as we wish we would have known as there are places to fill up.
Wonderful experience and tour. We saw the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Timing was good - we got to see everything and weren't rushed. The guide was excellent, providing good historical background to the structure and the times when it was used. She helped us to see what the Roman Forum would have been like in its day.
Our tour guide was great - had a lot of knowledge about the Colosseum, shared a lot of information about the sights and was very informative about the Colosseum and the ruins It was a great tour and we thoroughly enjoyed the morning. Would highly recommend this group.
Traveling in Italy can be very challenging due to the crowds so seeing the Colosseum at night when no one else was there was perfect! The dinner was very good and in a lovely setting. It was also fun to meet other travelers. Our Colosseum guide was an archaeologist so we learned a lot and he had some really fascinating stories. Though pricey, we were glad we did this and had a wonderful evening.
Tour guide Massimo was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. We had a very enjoyable few hours and we learned a lot.
This tour was amazing and we loved every minute of it . Our guides Melise and Helorie were friendly and very knowledgeable and we learned lots about the history of the Colosseum . The restaurant where we had our meal was first rate and every course was delicious with very generous portions and our wine glasses were kept topped up by very friendly waiters . The Colosseum during the day looked like an ant colony with so many visitors inside but our group at night was only six and there was only one other small group in at same time as us so we had plenty room to see everything and to take lots of pictures

This is just awesome, our guides were amazing, the food was out of this world, and we had the Colosseum more or less to ourselves for a bit. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for anything more.
Very informative tour.Well worth doing to hear and actually picture what went on at the colosseum.
Our guide Chiara was lovely. She spoke English well and she gave us a very detailed history of the colosseum.
We were given access to the bottom area of the colosseum which Chiara said we were privileged as only certain tours are granted access to the lowest level. Also the lower level hardly had many people so it was great taking photos.
The tour also included the Roman Forum, so much history at both places.
Definitely recommend this tour!
We had Alejandro as a guide and he was great! The tour takes you through the Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Roman Forum. Alejandro relayed the history and had some fantastic stories to go along with all of the helpful pictures depicting what the ancient Romans were like. History plus a gorgeous if a bit hot Roman day? Fantastic.
Four of us were traveling to Italy and wanted to take a tour of Ancient Rome and the Colosseum. We booked a half-day tour through Viator. Our tour guide was Fabrizio from City Wonders. He was a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing and seemed to enjoy passing on his information. We had 2 young children in our group and he was very patient with them, listening to their questions and answering in a way they could understand. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and would recommend him as a guide to anyone wanting to visit Rome.
