Editor's note: If you're traveling to Rome during the Rome Jubilee (Dec 24, 2024–Jan 6, 2026), expect heavier traffic and restorations on major landmarks. Plan in advance to avoid disappointment, and note that there may be some last-minute disruption to tour inclusions.

The Colosseum has been a symbol of Rome since 80 AD, and today it’s a top monument in Italy. Some 50,000 spectators once gathered in the amphitheater’s tiered seats to watch gladiator games. Though parts of the original marble facade were pilfered over the years to build the likes of St. Peter's Basilica, the Colosseum remains remarkably intact 2,000 years later.

The Guide lady was great. She was wonderful in her work New everything about the Colosseum. And was very helpful and positive. She took her time with everyone in the group. With questions and safety concerns. Great job for Romina . Give her a big raise…🤗🤗😊

The Best Guide & Tour!
First of all, this was the most comprehensive tour I've taken in my several times in Rome! If you are fortunate enough to have Sandra as your guide, you've hit the jackpot! She is so unbelievably knowledgeable and made the information so accessible and engaging! The tour of the Colosseum was fantastic and the rest of the tour was incredible! I'd highly highly recommend this tour!

Our tour guide, Bogdan,...
Our tour guide, Bogdan, gave a fantastic tour of the Colosseum. He was knowledgeable, funny, and gave us tips for the best photo ops. Bogdan expertly wove together ancient Roman history, modern history, and pop culture references for a truly enjoyable experience.
