Pantheon

Mon–Sat: 9am–7:30pm, Sun: 9am–5:30pm
Piazza della Rotonda, 00186

The Basics

Pass through the vast bronze doors and stand under the center of the dome, where light (and sometimes rain) shines down into the open interior, before learning about the building’s history and architectural design with a local guide on a small-group or private guided tour.

Many other tour options, lasting three to four hours, combine a visit to the Pantheon with skip-the-line entry to the Colosseum or other popular Roman highlights such as the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Roman Forum. You can also admire the Pantheon from the steps of the obelisk in Piazza della Rotonda.

Pantheon and Santa Maria Sopra Minerva Guided Tour in Rome
Mattei was a great tour guide, bringing alive history & beauty. We saw the Pantheon and due to construction on Santa Maria Minerva, he took us through St Ignatia instead, which was a most wonderful experience.

Pantheon Elite Tour
My tour guide was American but extremely knowledgeable! This was a very informative tour even though it was only 45 minutes. I still learned a lot about the Pantheon and even got tips from the tour guide on to take some great shots. I recommend the tour.

Pantheon Elite Tour
The tour guide was funny and very well informed about the history of the Pantheon and Italy in general. He gave us some history outside before we went in. We stood in line with others, but the line moved quickly. Once inside, he gave us some more information about the building and its contents.

PANTHEON: its history, its function, its wonder. With archaeologist
Of all the tours we took on our European vacation, our absolute favorite tour guide was Olga. First of all, in the huge crowd of people she was so easy to locate with her red umbrella. As an Archeologist she was extremely knowledgeable of the Pantheon. Our son had an especially amazing time with Olga on this tour as he is a Classics major. Five stars to Olga! She is an amazing person and tour guide. If ever in Rome again we would definitely book with Olga again.

When to Get There

The Pantheon is open and popular with visitors every day. To see the building buzz with energy, attend weekend public mass, held Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 10:30am. Though the interior is not open at night, seeing the illuminated ancient architecture after dark is worth a visit in itself.

Things to do Nearby

The Pantheon is one of Rome’s top attractions, but there’s plenty more to see and do nearby. Don't miss the stunning Gothic interior of the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church, just one block behind the Pantheon; then, continue on to the Spanish Steps on the Piazza de Spagna or head to the Trevi Fountain to make a wish.
