In Ancient Rome, the Forum was the centre of the Roman Empire. Until the 4th century AD, a thousand years of decisions affecting the future of Europe were made here. When Roman soldiers were out conquering the world in the name of the Emperors, ...

The Colosseum is truly a wonder of the world. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions that we asked her. The second part of the tour to the Roman forum and platine Hill was even better for me. Be careful if you have trouble walking the 2nd part is not accessible for you.

This tour was amazing. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and even politely handled some rather rude behavior from some other tour guests. The colosseum is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen and the Roman Forum is mind blowing. If not for our excellent tour guide it would not have anywhere near the same significance. Highly highly recommend.

Great tour, awesome guide....early morning is the way to go to avoid the masses as much as possible. Quick walk from the Colosseum to the Roman Forum with tons of informative information throughout both.

Absolutely amazing experience. We walked past the Colosseum during the day and could see hundreds of people inside, but when entering the night tour, our group were the only ones in there initially. I loved that the tour started with other parts of ancient rome, including the Roman forum. The tour guide was excellent - full of knowledge and enthusiasm which made the tour even better.

Rachel is extremely personable and so easy to ask questions and receive her information with it being so fascinating, informative and so easy to digest. The tour with the small group makes it so nice. you get an hour and a half int he colosseum, and then the remaining 2.5 hours or so in the Palatine hill seeing the palace learning about it and then standing about the Roman Forum to answer ANY questions you need then you are left free to wander down below with what you have learned. GREAT way to see secret areas, skip the lines and get an extensive history lesson. BOOK IT!

With the skip the line tour we went in through a priority entrance and security taking no longer than 10 minutes and avoiding the long queues. Very informative tour by Paulina and the Colosseum guide. Was great to go from bottom to top, seeing the underground chambers to the top tier. Also a bonus to walk on the arena floor, it gave you a real sense of how the Gladiators would have felt! We then moved onto the Roman Forum and Paletine Hill. This part was also informative but was a bit longer than necessary, with many of the sites able to be viewed from the Hill area rather than both viewing areas. A very well organised tour, with all participants catered for.

This was my third of 9 events that I scheduled with Viator on my European vacation to Italy, Spain and France. So after my Barefoot Picnic in The Park, we took a 20 minute taxi to the Colosseum for this 3 hr. tour. It was incredible. We learned so much about the history of the Colosseum, The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, since our tour guide was very informative. Speaking for myself and my husband, it was a great opportunity for us to use our Italian since we've studied it for 3 years now. However, the tour was in English. Again everything was seamless. 1 tip to keep in mind, this is a taxing tour for 3 hours. There is a lot of walking and some climbing. Most of this is done on cobblestones, so be prepared with good walking shoes. Those who are elderly and have foot problems really need to take all this in consideration. We had 2 elderly women on the tour, and they needed to stop several times even sitting on the ground. While they finished the tour, they still seemed a bit overwhelmed. Also 4 people broke off from the group after about 1.5 - 2 hours. So be prepared and rest up for this trek. Anyway, for my husband and I as tiring as it was especially since we had walked about 4 miles earlier in the morning, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, throughout the city etc... this was very informative and again an amazing experience. A wonderful way to complete my 4 day stay in Rome. Catch my next review as I head out the next day for my 7 day cruise.

Excellent tour and guide was very knowledgable. There was a thunderstorm in the middle of the tour and guide Rosa carried on regardless. Need to have lots of energy for this one and a good idea to read up about the Roman forum first.

Our tour guide was awesome! You could tell he had a passion for the ancient history of Rome. He knew so much about the various emperors that had influences on the Colosseum as well as the other ancient runes we saw. Besides the Colosseum, we got to see various Arches dedicated to emperors and the Roman Forum. There is almost too much to see there. I will warn however, if you're not used to a whole lot of walking, this may not be the best tour for you. We went on an especially hot day and lost almost half the group because they were hot, tired, and hungry.

It was so cool to see the Colosseum and Ancient Ruins of Rome lit up at night! One surprising piece was that we went to the Roman Forum, which we weren't expecting-- it was a nice surprise! Our tour guide, I believer her name was Irina, was absolutely great and so adorable! She was so fun and made our tour even better than we anticipated!

Great tour and great guide - so passionate and prideful about the Colosseum. We again scheduled the night tour and what an amazing experience. We saw the entire structure up and down, and also the Roman Forum and all of the ruins. So different at night then during the day. And afterwards, walked across the street to a fantastic dinner. And only 12 people - crazy. Totally recommend this night tour.

The private tour of the Colosseum was top rate! Would highly recommend this as the only way to get a first hand glimpse of the Colosseum in its entirety - the tiered seating, dungeons where the gladiators and animals awaited their doom. The other tours had long lines and were limited to only certain areas for viewing. The tour also included the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill - well worth every minute!

I cannot say enough about City Wonders, and specifically, our guide, Federica. We liked her so much on our Skip the Line Colosseum Tour, that when we found out she was going to be one of the guides on the day of our Vatican tour, we requested her again on our Vatican tour. We went in Augustheight of tourist season and heat, and could not have been more thrilled. The directions to meet with your tour group are perfect. I highly suggest bringing your own earphones because the ones provided on the Colossuem tour are uncomfortable. Our guide, Federica was knowledgeable and passionate about her city, it's origins, and you could tell she loved sharing the information with her tour group. We loved listening to her descriptions, anticdotes because she did it in a way that took you on a journey, rather than being given a bunch of facts. Her English was superb, her demeanor delightful and the sheer amount of knowledge was astounding. She answered every question asked, and was concerned for her tour members on a very crowded, hot, and sunny day. She always tried to have people in the shade as much as possible. Skipping the line in August is worth EVERY PENNY! The sights of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palentine Hill are something you will never see or experience anywhere else in the world. Thank you!!!!

This tour was great! We did the ads of package where you go to the lower level and upper tier. Highly recommend that! The Roman Forum was just ok. It was very hot so that affected our tour. City wonders does a great job with tours though! High recommend them! Our guide was Elaina and she was good.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The kids loved the Colosseum but probably got a bit bored/ tired by the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill part as it was very hot. My second visit to the Colosseum, and I would say that it is much better with a guided tour. Highly Recommended.

So I had pretty high expectations for the Colosseum and Roman Forum - but they were awfully hot and crowded I live in Miami, so when I say hot I mean hot. The guide was fine, but it was hard to keep up and hear him with the interference from the other hundred guides using the headsets. The afternoon walking tour definitely made up any and all difference. We had a different guide for this portion, and she was absolutely AMAZING...her enthusiasm made the whole day for me. I loved the Trevi Fountain and street musicians especially.

Valentina was very sweet and shared much of her in depth knowledge of the Colosseum and Roman forum. We wished she had been able to give the tour inside the colosseum - the other tour guide was somewhat dry and difficult to hear. Valentina gave a terrific and insightful tour and we very much enjoyed

This a great tour which provides a good overview of ancient Rome and covers the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hills. Our guide Ursus was friendly and knowledgeable and provided fascinating facts and anecdotes which helped to put whah we saw in context. Be warned that there is a lot of walking so appropriate attire and enough drinking water is essential but joining such a tour helps to save time otherwise spent queuing up and navigating to the various sights.

I highly recommend this tour. We toured the Palatine Hill, Circus Maximus, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. I would not have known the history and beauty of the Palatine Hill without the help of a guide. Our guide, Maura, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. She knew the history of all the ruins and as well, regaled us with many interesting stories about the people who lived back in the days of the chariot races and gladiators. We had headphones so could hear her even when we strayed to take photos. There is lots of walking so wear comfy shoes and bring water and a hat if it is sunny

Rosy was our tour guide, and she is a professional archeologist. To be able to have such remarkable talent as your tour guide was money very well spent. We started the tour at the Colosseum...skip the line, which is great. After seeing parts of the Colosseum that regular tours miss, we headed over to Paletine Hill and the Roman Forum. Again, fantastic. The entire tour was 3.5 hours long, and is really a unique experience. As I told one of our fellow travelers in the group, you really appreciate the insights the guide provides. Without a guide, we would have missed so much.

Our guide, Fabrizio, a Roman architect, really made this tour so wonderful and interesting! It's really unfortunate that the tour companies are forced to allow a Colosseum Guide to take over while you are in the Colosseum as Fabrizio was clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the history. The tour of Ancient Rome and the Roman Forum is very interesting and would definitely not make sense without a knowledgeable guide, just make sure you have good shoes it's very sandy and dusty so closed toe is best and water. It's obviously quite a bit more expensive to see the underground chambers and upper tier of the Colosseum, but totally worth it, you won't be sorry!
