Oh boy! This was fantastic. before we headed into the Colosseum we did an extensive walking tour of the Roman Forum. Our guide was brilliant. Talked us through all the inmportant locations and really brought the forum to life and helped us visualise what a day would look and feel like. Stepping inside the Colosseum was an experieince I'll never forget. Going below the arena floor to where the animals and slaves were held was fantastic. A must do in Rome
This tour was AMAZING! Our guide, Fabrizzio, was an archaeologist and very familiar with the Colosseum and Roman Forum. He was educational but also extremely engaging! This was the first day they were allowed to take us on the stage and it provided the most amazing views! I cannot recommend this enough. He was incredible!
I think this tour had the perfect balance of time in the underground chambers, the main arena, top tier, free time and guide of the Roman Forum. I was conscious of the extra cost of this tour but as I only plan on doing Rome once so felt the extra parts were worth the expense. It really added to the understanding the scale of the Colosseum and I enjoyed seeing it from every perspective. I liked that we were given some free time around 25-30 mins before leaving for the forum. It have me a chance to read a few signs and visit the toilet and giftshop. Be warned though, the queue for the ladies toilets was huge and went down very slowly - I wasted a lot of time here when I could have been looking around more. Next up was the forum tour which was equally impressive. At the end, the tour guide left us in the forum, free to look around more and visit the museum. This was great because we could take more photos and take the views in to our hearts content. I would recommend doing this tour early in the day if you can, then you aren't limited to time to leave. I did the Vatican in the morning and this in the afternoon - the day was way too long and very tiring. I recommend comfortable shoes for this as there is a lot of walking/standing and hardly anywhere to sit.
Is was a great tour!! Our tour guide was great and informative!!! It was so great that I will be taking this tour again with another son. It is a lot of walking. But worth it. When the tour is done you are able to tour the roman forum on your own. Highly recommend!!
What a wonderful tour. We started just down the road from the Colosseum and ended up in the centre of Rome at Piazza Navona and visited all of the sights in between. The Colosseum, Roman Forum, The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and much more. Our guide, Raffaellea Etna, was an absolute delight with and extensive knowledge of Roman history. A bit of walking but nothing too strenuous and it went over time but that was a bonus. Highly recommended, especially first time Rome visitors.

LOVE IT! Saw more on this tour than I did just a year ago on another tour of the Roman Forum. I wish I could remember our guides name because he sure knew his history.

I did another Colosseum Tour in April and was so tired after and Roman Forum and Palatine Hill I did not get to do the Colosseum tour. This time I did the Smaller Group tour and it was more focused to the Colosseum and the levels and history. Great tour.
Our tour guide Massimo was super informative. He gave great detailed explanations of the history of Rome at the Colosseum and at the Roman forum/Palatine Hill. He had examples of the ruins and how they looked originally. The Colosseum tour guide was very informative you went in the underground chambers and up to the highest sections of the Colosseum. Our group was about 24 people, we had a few elderly on the group that found it difficult to go up and down the stairs of Colosseum and at the palatine hill as well. If you have difficulty walking please be mindful when booking your tours as I did notice that this group was having some difficulties. This tour was about 4 hours and extremely informative. I would highly recommend this tour as you do learn a lot and see a lot.

Excellent Tour. Saw virtually everything in the Colosseum top to bottom and the Roman Forum. Tour of the Colosseum was strenuous! Much work has been done to reclaim the Colosseum.
Enjoyed the tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. We did learn that water is not allowed into the Colosseum, however, empty water bottles are okay and there are places to fill them up, after you pass security. Luca was a wonderful guide who knew the history, can work the camera wonderfully and manage this small group 6 people very well. It is worth knowing that you will be walking a bit. We had an elderly couple who had to sit and wait in part of the Roman forum as the rest climbed the hill for a wonderful view of the Forum and Rome. I recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the Colosseum and knowing what was it like and how they did it.
Fantastic tour, our guide was more knowledgeable than the guide The Colosseum provided. We also saw the what remains of the Roman Forum and walked up Palatine Hill. The view was amazing. Our guide studied archaeology and gave us a wonderful insight to Roman life and times.
On a wet and thundery night we were guided by Danielle through the Roman forum and the colosseum on a great tour. This is a must do tour as we as a a small group had the colosseum to ourselves at night. Danielle being an archeologist and having worked on the site provided fantastic insight into the ruins. Fantastic.
Doing what: Colosseum and Ancient Rome Tour by Night
Tour inside the colosseum done by an archeologist and very informative. I really enjoyed seeing the underground chambers and imagining the scene during the time of its use. We went home and watched Gladiator as the guide had told us it was fairly historically accurate. We left the tour at the Roman Forum and wandered off on our own. Our guide was doing an OK job I think he was new but some of our fellow tourists were intolerable:-
First time using Viator based on my brother's recommendation and I am upset I didn't know about them sooner. The tour was extremely well organized and planned. Sarah N was extremely knowledgeable and took her time on the important aspects. Her stories and facts about the Colosseum and Roman Forum felt as if I was transported back in time to when the events were happening. Great tour and highly recommend it to anyone going to the Rome.
A hugely informative tour with a great guide who is an architect/archeologist and clearly loves and has such a passion for the Roman ruins. We did wait for a short time in line to get into the Colosseum, but that was a factor of the security. This tour took the group down to the lower level and it was great to see and hear all that the Colosseum has to offer. The lower part is not open to the general public, so not only do you see a portion that most cannot see, it was not crowded either. Plan on standing the entirety of the tour 3 hours, wear comfortable shoes - ones that are okay for uneven flooring and stairs. The Roman Forum portion was great also with tons of information that one could only get with a lot of research. Highly recommended.
Our tour guide, Emanuella, was really knowledgeable and also really fun. We enjoyed especially the views of the Roman forum and surroundings from the Palatine hill. Colosseum is also amazing. The tour is a must when visiting Rome.
Wonderful experience and tour. We saw the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Timing was good - we got to see everything and weren't rushed. The guide was excellent, providing good historical background to the structure and the times when it was used. She helped us to see what the Roman Forum would have been like in its day.
Tour guide Massimo was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. We had a very enjoyable few hours and we learned a lot.
Our guide Chiara was lovely. She spoke English well and she gave us a very detailed history of the colosseum.
We were given access to the bottom area of the colosseum which Chiara said we were privileged as only certain tours are granted access to the lowest level. Also the lower level hardly had many people so it was great taking photos.
The tour also included the Roman Forum, so much history at both places.
Definitely recommend this tour!
We had Alejandro as a guide and he was great! The tour takes you through the Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Roman Forum. Alejandro relayed the history and had some fantastic stories to go along with all of the helpful pictures depicting what the ancient Romans were like. History plus a gorgeous if a bit hot Roman day? Fantastic.
Amazing tour! Well worth the extensive walking it entailed. The tour guide Nicola was excellent and energetic; he gave us a great perspective on the history and evolution of the colosseum and the Roman Forum. We absolutely wouldn and #39;t advise trying to do this tour on your own.

This was really 2 City Wonders Ltd tours.
The AM tour guide was Ms. Barbara Chiaretti, an archeologist. She was really interesting and knowledgeable. She knew the answer to any question asked. After the Colloseum, we toured the Ancient Roman Forum ruins. This 3 hour tour was wonderful.
The PM tour guide was Ms. Francesca Tolomei. She knew a lot of interesting stories about the sites and keep everyone engaged. We visited the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and much more. Two women got lost but found us at the end. This was a group of 25 which made it hard to keep track of everyone.
If you have sensitive ears, bring your own earphones to plug into the radio receiver you wear. The throw-away ones they provide are not comfortable.
YOU CANNOT BRING ANYYYYY LIQUID INTO THE COLOSSEUM. I had to throw out a bottle of medicine I was carrying or miss the tour. The police security is tight.
The instructions indicate to meet the PM guide at the 3rd of 5 palm trees which is difficult as there are only 4. It would be better to tell folks to meet in front of the Versace store. Several folks were late because they got confused and could not find the spot.
Our Guide was Maura. Knowledgeable and very pleasant to be with. We started in the Colosseum. It was information overload, but so very interesting. We had a morning tour but it was very hot. There are places inside the Colosseum that you can refill your water bottles. Definitely take water with you wherever you go. We were in the Colosseum for about 2 1/2 hours we then walked over to the Roman Forum and then up Palatine Hill to see the Temple of Julius Ceasar and look upon the ruins from up on the Hill. A lot of walking, but worth every step. Great guide makes this tour and we had one!
Great walking tour. Over 3 hours and most enjoyable. Tour guide Rosa, an archeologist, was excellent and very knowledgable. The best way to see the Colosseum along with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
When you go to the Colosseum you NEED to take this tour. You go below the arena floor and get to see where the animals were kept and then see how they were brought up to the arena. It was amazing. You get to go to the upper tier for a private tour and the grounds all gather to follow through the locked gate but only your small group gets to enter. No crowds and wonderful picture opportunities. Once you leave there you get some free time before you join up to go to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. The tour guide was so knowledgeable. Take THIS tour. I highly recommend it. I went July 2016
