This is an excellent tour, no waiting in lines and you go right through. Our tour guide, Igor was phenomenal. He is so passionate about the artifacts in the Vatican museum that he makes you feel the same. 4 days after our tour we were in Florence and we saw Igor on break from leading a tour there and he remembered us. The experience was beyond our expectations.
Our guide was Lindy - she was great. This tour costs more than some others but the catch with those other tours might be that you have to come up with the money for the museum ticket at the beginning of the tour. And since the museum is the majority of the tour my tour anyway, the tour would be a waste of money without the museum part. Glad it was built in to my package price...I would be leaving a bad review if I had experienced a major hidden cost like that.
No photos or videos in the Sustine Chapel, but that's a rule imposed by the Vatican, not by the tour guide.
The guided tour ends before St Peter's Basilica, but the ticket price includes the basilica so budget an extra 30-45 minutes if you plan to wander around in the basilica, or in St Peter's Square afterwards.
Our Tour guide, Sara, was wonderful! Her knowledge and her enthusiasm for the art and the history made this an amazing tour! It was great to see the Vatican Museum with the early access and a small group. Thanks! Mark
Great tour, we learnt early on that we were not able to access St. Peter's until later that day as it was a Wednesday and there was a papal adress, so the tour spent much longer going through the Vatican Museums which was fantastic!
Our tour guide was incredible. She knew it all - all the popes, all the Vatican gossip through the centuries, she had us spellbound the entire tour. I would recommend this Tour to anyone wanting to not only see all the sights, but also learn the history behind incredible Vatican gardens, statues, paintings, pope-mobile's, and everything else on the tour.
Our host was filled with interesting insights into the art and history of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. This tour was the highlight of an amazing two weeks in Italy.
I am SO glad that friends of mine who had been to Italy suggested signing up for a Skip the Line Tour for the Vatican. It was well worth the money and we got so much more out of it rather than trying to go through on our own. We also liked that it was a smaller group considering how crowded the Vatican was. Our tour guide, Giuseppe, was EXCELLENT!
This is one of the best tours of my life anywhere. I mean that. Shannon was a joy to listen to with a slight southern Alabama/Italian drawl. She was quick in the accessing of the areas we were to see, Obviously knew her subjects of discussion very well. The Sistine chapel with the quiet of only twelve other people and two guards was a highlight of my Italy tour. We also saw the secret Vatican rooms and the Raphael rooms by the great contemporary of Michelangelo. I cannot recommend this tour well enough. Overlook the cost and realize that you will see what very few others have seen or ever will see.
We toured the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Basilica. We had the most amazing guide. He spoke excellent English, was thorough, patient and knowledgeable.
A must see. We got to see the Pope during a vigil on a Saturday night. The Vatican was amazing with so much history.
Very knowledgeable guide... she is very passionate regarding history of Vatican... i recommend this no lines small group tour... great!!
We were the second tour of the day for Inger but she remained positive and shared her insights on the Vatican Museum. Regrettably St. Peter's was closed that day for a celebration and that meant the lines everywhere else were long, even the skip the line.
It was beautiful!
Sara was a wonderful guide, and the museum is pack with priceless treasures of art and culture. I highly recommend visiting the Vatican Museum and this tour was very well run.
Fantastic tour!!! My wife and I had gone to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's on other trips however, we wanted a specialized tour since we were bringing our 10- and 13-year olds to Rome to learn a little more about the world we live in. It was fabulous, we walked straight in the group tour skip the line lane to the security area it took all of a few minutes -- well worth the savings of the 2 hour wait outside in the normal entrance line. This tour was just the right size and accomplished everything we wanted it was great since everyone could interact personally with the tour guide. While there were some questions asked, the tour guide was excellent and she provided so much information on key architecture, statues, art, etc. that one was left with a very satisfied feeling following each area of the tour. She reinforced everything she talked about with documentation showing different eras and depictions on the topic to help all to better understand the history involved in the is wonderful place. One memorable moment was when she presented a book of the Sistine Chapel and went over the design and each of the paintings prior to your entrance to the Chapel. This helped pull it all together since one can be overwhelmed since there are so many paintings on the walls and ceiling of the Sistine plus you are not supposed to talk while in the chapel so this was key and she did an excellent job in conveying the information to all 10 years old to people that were in their mid-60s.
After finishing the tour, you could then go on your own to the catacombs or the up to the cupola if you desired.
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a memorable experience to the Vatican!
The Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Perer's were experienced thru the eyes of our tour director. Her love and knowledge of everything we saw was and experience to treasure! Loved it and her!

Great day. We were a group of 5 with one of us having already been to the vatican on our own on a previous trip. I wouldn't want to do this tour on my own. Just the stories and the background on the history of the vatican and the sistine chapel alone were worth the price. To know what you are seeing and hear it from an art historian who is passionate about the topic was amazing. The weather wasn't the greatest and we were pretty cold outside at the breakfast but the pictures and the ability to be in the gardens at sunrise what there was of it was an awesome experience. Getting up so early and getting there was also a trick after a night of wine and food was also a bit of a trick but well worth it.
The tour was fabulous and the guide was outstanding. Her knowledge of Vatican City was over the top and she narrated without notes. The skip the line tour is the best way to go. We went on a Weds during the weekly Papal audience so the Square was packed end to end and wall to wall for the Pope.
One of the must do in Rome. After finding the meeting point for this tour its looks like utter chaos but out if this chaos is organisation. Our tour left on time and we were soon entering the Vatican Museum. Following the non avoidable security checks its onward through the sights of the museum. Be ready for crowds as even though you have skipped the queue to get in - once inside you just join the endless crowd of people passing through the museum. A knowledgeable and informative quide lead it through the museum and into the Sistine Chapel. Was then a trip through the Vatican tombs and into St Peter finally out to St Peters Square.
This is a must do in Rome but expect crowds. The only way to vist this sight is by a tour like this. This tour was well organised, informative and entertaining.
Excellent tour in a very congested environment where half of the tour guides role is to make sure they keep some separation between other groups. The Museum and St. Peters are amazing places so she was excellent at letting the building dominate but provided excellent background for several of the important players during the completion of the Vatican Museum. All in all fantastic.
Well organized and on time, guide was excellent and knowledgeable very passionate in explaining the history of the Vatican.
This was definitely one of the big highlights to the trip to Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the information we received. The only way to fly is on the tour before the Vatican City opens! Thanks, Viator. Well done.
The tour guide Doriana was AWESOME!! She had so much knowledge, was easy to understand and exceptionally informative. My 73 year old mother understood every word, and loved her as well. The Vatican is huge and there is so much to see, she made it informative and didn't loose anyone in our group. The afternoon guide was just as good and was entertaining and very easy to understand. He highlighted all of the sights from the Vatican to each stop. He was very informative and knowledgable of all of the Basillicas after the Vatican. I would highly suggest seeing the sights with a guide, as there is so much to learn, and without them it old have been way less interesting.
Doing what: Skip the Line: Vatican in One Day
This tour was great! Tiberius was really knowledgeable and made this a really enjoyable experience. He took us through the whole Vatican skip the line was WELL worth it and let us do our own thing by the time we go to the Basilica. Great day, great tour! Only recommendation is if you are hungry after the tour, cross the bridge for lunch -- don't stay near the touristy area!
Guide was great ! Vatican was crowded but it seems like it is always crowded .
