We toured Hadrian's Villa in the morning under cloudy skies and by afternoon it was raining as we toured Villa d'Este and I still give this tour 5 stars! Giuseppe was able to answer our questions and give a very knowledgeable tour, particularly of Hadrian's Villa. I like that we got to see both villas, the ancient Roman one and the one from the Renaissance period. It was easy to see the influences that the first villa had on the second and then picture how the marble that was taken from Hadrian's villa for the Villa d'Este must have looked in the ancient halls. But the fountains at Villa d'Este were the most amazing part of the experience. They were honestly draw droppingly beautiful.
Amazing ruins and gardens within an hour of Rome
Really delighted with this tour. Hadrian's Villa was amazing, if for no other reason than its size, gives new meaning to Villa. The Villa d'Este was spectacular. The gardens and fountains soothing, beautifully maintained, and astonishing in its engineering. The guide, Joseph, was from Tivoli, lived there all his life, so he was intimately knowledgeable of Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa, and the Villa d'Este. Joseph's accent was strong but he was acutely conscientious about insuring that we all could understand and hear him. He spoke slowly in order to overcome the accent. He was very friendly.
This tour was amazing!
Wonderful tour. The guide was terrific. She spoke English so well we had no trouble understanding her. She presented information with many fun facts and with enthusiasm. Love the tour.
This was a highlight of our 5 day trip to Rome. Claudia and Fabio were excellent guide/driver. The additional 2 hour guided tour with Brunella was also excellent!
We loved this day trip from Rome . Hadrian's Villa was amazing and the Gardens at Tivoli were breath taking . Unfortunately it started to rain just as we started the tour of the gardens so we did get very wet but this did not take away from our delight at the beautiful fountains and gardens .
We are so glad we followed a friend's recommendation to take this tour! Our guide Josepe was outstanding giving historical information throughout the walking tour of the remains of Hadrian's Villa and the breath taking sights of Villa D'Este. The coach was comfortable and a short drive from Rome - a nice break from the crowds of Rome.
Highly recommended trip. A great excursion from Rome.
The guide Alfredo deserves a special mention - professional, knowledgeable, kind and with a sense of humor.
A great day trip! Our guide, Giuseppe, was knowledgeable, informative, and had a terrific sense of humor. The Villas were exceptionally lush and beautiful. Would not have missed this trip! It made for another day of wonderful memories of Italy.
We had a wonderful day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had time to answer any questions we had. At no point did we feel rushed. It was nice to have free time in Tivoli between the villa tours. Definitely worth spending a full day on this trip, a half day would have seemed very rushed. We will definitely use this company again.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable, recommend tour to all especially Hadrian's Villa. Loved it as did my 3 teenage daughters.
Great tour enhanced by an excellent guide Larissa. The knowledge and detail she gave made the tour come alive.
This was a well-organised, informative, and entertaining tour. Our guide was a great performer with good knowledge, and both sites were magical.
I've done this tour before, but Stefania's knowledge and pleasant manner made Hadrian's Villa even more interesting. And timing our tour of Villa D'Este to have us at the water organ for its performance was a splendid bonus!
Very interesting and well planned day, excellent guide Larissa?. Relaxing, peaceful and beautiful way of taking a day off from the crowds of Rome.
Great place to visit, guide was quite good as well. All in all, an excellent tour, too bad it was so hot on the day.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and attentive to the group. Even though we had a partly rainy day, it did not take a way from the experience. We were impressed with the history and enjoyed the day.
Delivered on what it promised. A nice coach ride from the center of Rome to the Pompeii ruins and then organised entrance, with an informative two hour tour and then two-three hours spare to wander around. The experience is one not to be missed and free of the usual hucksterism of cameo shops and other shopping and food locations designed to part the eager traveler from his/her money.
The best tour and Tivoli is a great town to have lunch. Stefania is an archeologist and her valuable knowledge served this tour very well. Large and comfortable bus and skilled driver. This is not a tour for anyone who has trouble walking or taking stairs. But it is a beautiful and interesting visit of a Roman Villa complex and a Renaissance estate. Loved it!
TERRIFIC TOUR ,GUIDE WAS ENTERTAINING KNOWLEDGABLE AND PLEASANT TO TALK TO .A GREAT REP FOR VIATOR .WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SPEND THE WHOLE DAY AT THE VILLA BUT VILA dEste WAS AN EXCELLENT TOUR AS WELL
Wonderful trip. I was worried about finding the office but it turned out to be easy thanks to a local and handsome cop. The street is a little hole in the wall street close to the Colosseum. The day was warm, the guide was great and the gardens at Villa d'Este were wonderful. The steps are a challenge so be warned.
Easy to book - comfortable coach - beautiful place and great guide. The most memorable day of our trip and definitely worth a full day - anything else would be rushed.
The best thing to do on an incredibly hot 39 degree day in Rome .Got out of the central tourist sites and into the countryside.Nice and cool in the catacombs A thrill to stand on the Apian way.
We were a group of six in our party from the UK and Spain ... and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip led by Stefania - our tour guide for the day on 10 Sep 2016. With her archaeological background it was doubly interesting. She timed the day's trip so that we could experience the water organ at Vill d'Este.
