The tour was ok , the lunch was delicious, but in general it was rush, the stop at Napoli was a disaster, the bus stopped by the pier, very long and very fast walk to the plaza, not enough time to enjoy and spent 20 minutes to go to the bathrooms and no bus ride around the city. Walking back to the bus was worse, like running a marathon. Not what was advertised.
Me and my boyfriend came to Rome for a few days and wanted to see all the sights and fit in a trip to Pompeii.
After finding out about this day trip, We were really excited about the day. we had never done a guided tour before and didnt know what to expect. The meeting place was very easy to find. The tour guide, Enrica, makes you feel very welcome from start to finish. She was very funny, full if energy and extremely knowledgeable about Italy in general which added tremendous value. The bus driver, antonio, was also excellent the bus ride was very comforable especially coming from someone who gets travel sickness the drive was very smooth and the coach was lovely. The Pompei tour guide, George, was very insightful and you could tell he was passionate about the historical site.
I would advise you to travel light as it's a long day and you walk some miles so wear comfy shoes!.
Constructive criticism- our trip to Napoli could have been a little longer as we felt a little rushed though we appreciated that we had a schedule to keep. Obviously this isnt relevant to anyone that is lucky enough to see vesuvius.
Overall I would reccomend this trip to anybody and a thoroughly deserved 5*.
Take a day out of your Rome vacation to get acquainted with Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. This day trip to Pompeii includes a steady-paced hike up Mt. Vesuvius (summer only) or a visit to Naples when Vesuvius is closed in winter, plus a pizza lunch and a tour of the UNESCO-listed digs at Pompeii. Hear the history from a local guide and admire artifacts that date back to the infamous Mt. Vesuvius eruption of AD 79.
Small-Group Tour: Florence and Pisa Day Trip from Rome
From $286.63 (Price varies by group size )
Rushed, but balanced
, Dec 2019
We had lots of things on the agenda. I was surprised that we were able to get in as much as we did. Our guides were very nice and accommodating for our whole group. There was another guide besides the one in our van who met us in Florence to show us the sites on the walking tour through Florence. Although he was nice and very knowledgeable, I think one guide could have handled the whole thing. Just an extra person to tip really. I say this because the time spent on each attraction in Florence was so short, we received only superficial information.
The van was very small and you are hip to hip with the other guests. Since the seats only seat 3 people. the back seat is very cramped and if you're claustrophobic, forget it! There's no way to get out of the back seat without folding up one of the middle seats. Since people often travel in pairs, one of the pairs will be separated as my wife and I were for the whole trip. Fortunately, our travel mates were very nice, but if one was not nice, it would make for a long day.
The roads along the coast are bumpy. And when I say bumpy, I'm talking teeth-shattering bumps. There are no signs to let the driver know where the bumps are, and there's no way to avoid some of them, so be prepared for a spine-crushing ride on the way to Pisa. On the way back, it's dark, but you're on more of an interstate. There are some sharp curves and our driver made me feel like we were going over the edge several times. He lane-straddled very often and passed within milimeters of other cars. Scary for highway speeds of 140+KPH. Yes, I was watching the speedometer. The good part was that the GPS told me we had 2.5 hours to go and it took a little more than 1.5 not counting our stop at the gas station.
I wish we had a little more time for souvenir shopping, but like I said, we fit in a lot of attractions. A LOT. Great photos and we'll have to return for more! Our guide Michaela was very nice and patient with our tourist questions and was quite knowledgeable on Etruscan history in the region. I recommend this tour for the above reasons!
3.5 hours there along the coast was nice, and 3 hours back to rest after a full day. Had sufficient time to see the leaning Tower of Pisa but not go up in it. Saw The David quickly and so much of beautiful Florence from the walking tour.
Take a break from the bustle of Rome to visit the famous cities of Tuscany on a full-day tour to Florence and Pisa. Travel through the picturesque Tuscan countryside in a comfortable minivan, and enjoy the personalized attention of a small-group tour.
We left from Rome very early, the trip was expected to be 12 hours. We had a very nice and comfortable Mercedes van and an excellent driver. Our tour guide was Georgia. She was exceptional. Her knowledge of the history and areas of our visit were also part of the entire package which made for a wonderful trip. We were amazed with our visit to Pompeii, it should be on everyone's list when visiting Italy. The Amalfi coast "Sorrento" was a picture postcard. The drive along the sea was beyond words. We spent a few hours in the city of Sorrento, this was to have lunch and shop, the shopping was great and so was the food. Don't forget to sample the Lemoncello here. If you go to Rome take a full day and travel on this excursion, you won't regret it.

Small-Group Full-Day Trip to Florence and Pisa from Rome
, Jan 2020
Awesome experience, had a lovely time. We went with a group but experienced things on our own without a guide. It would have been nice to know that the David was not included in the price but...… it was all good.

A taste of Naples and walk thru the ruins of Pompeii...AMAZING!
, Jan 2020
I can't begin to tell you how happy I am I booked this tour for our family trip. Our driver Johnny and tour guide Marco were the best! The tour, the food and the bus ride were fantastic. If you get a chance to be in Rome and have a day to spend, please take this tour. You will not be disappointed.

Tivoli Day Trip from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este
A Beautiful Day in Tivoli
, Feb 2020
We had a wonderful tour guide named Joseph. He was very knowledgeable and his English was good. I would have given the tour 5 stars but we had to take the metro to the end of the line to get the van. The tour said transportation to and from central Rome. Although the tour was great,, that was disappointing.
Both the Tivoli Gardens and Hadrian’s villa were of course inspiring but in truth it was the guide that brought it all together. She could not have been more knowledgeable or more engaged. It was her enthusiasm and all of the site that made it a really wonderful experience to be there.
Your guide Giovanni was excellent. He was well informed but not pedantic or boring. He was able to answer all questions and explain the history and the relationship between Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este. He was also helpful with our mundane questions about matters like what to eat for lunch. Thanks to a Giovanni for a great experience.
Visit the historic vacation homes of the Roman elite on a Rome to Tivoli day trip. The full-day guided excursion includes tours of Tivoli’s two UNESCO-listed sites: Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este. Hear Renaissance and Ancient Roman history and scandal, admire archaeological ruins and explore some of Italy’s most extravagant private gardens.
The tour is well thought out--just the right time at each stop, some free time, gorgeous towns and scenery, excellent information. And the meal was far, far above our expectations, in a gorgeous old farmhouse with some of the most excellent we had in our entire 6 days in Italy. Our guide, Antonina, was lovely, witty, and generous. My kids aged 22, 20 and 17 all loved it too.

Semi Private Pompeii, Positano & Amalfi Coast Tour from Rome
Off-Seaon Positano is CLOSED! Paid for entire experience
, Dec 2019
The tour company was great to work with for the overall tour, I would use again for other tours. Happy with the driver - very prompt. Happy with tour guide at Pompeii.
Don’t do this tour during off-season months. You are paying for an hour stop at a place that is completely shut down. This tour should have been removed as an option for December. Paid full price to not get the real Positano experience. It is a Rip-off paying for the extra stop during off-season.
Discover one of Italy’s most beautiful stretches of coastline on this Amalfi Coast day trip from Rome. Explore the volcanic ruins of ancient Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before exploring the picturesque town of Positano. Combine Italian scenery, archaeology, and history on this intimate, small-group tour limited to eight people per vehicle, plus lunch at a local restaurant.
Boat-Hopping On The Amalfi Coast: Day Trip from Rome
, Nov 2019
What a beautiful part of Italy. I think this day tour had just the right amount of time at each location and I enjoyed it very much. The only disappointment was there were 2 tour groups put together with 1 tour guide as the other guide didn't turn up. The tour guide did the best he could under the difficult circumstances, but with 2 mini-vans and 1 guide, we missed out on information.
The trip was amazing and this was all thanks to our lovely tour guide Federico! He took the time to get to know everyone and was absolutely lovely. He was full of great stories about the histories of the area and some great tips, especially the resturant. Would recommend 10/10
I don't really do reviews but this tour went above and beyond to my opinion. The tour was so worth the price and Georgia is the best tour guide ever! I have joined a lot of tours and this is the best by far! Georgia was like a friend from the get go and really her knowledge and customer service was exceptional.
Experience the highlights of the Amalfi Coast on a full-day tour from Rome that offers a curated taste of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This full-day Amalfi Coast excursion features a guided tour of Positano, free time to explore Positano and Amalfi, a limoncello tasting at a cliff-top lemon orchard, and scenic boat cruises. Transport by train, bus, and boat is included in this tour.
Pompeii was excellent! There should have been stops on the way to Positano so we could get pictures of it while driving to it. The view was stunning, but we were not afforded the chance to get a picture of it from this vantage point. Most everything was closed in Positano so it was pretty boring. The description of your tour indicates three places; we went to two. We did not go to Amalfi like the tour states.Your tour description should say Positano on the Amalfi Coast since we didn’t go to Amalfi.
Pompeii was great but if you get a tour guide you will learn a lot but you will not get to see most of the ruins. Also warn older folks about the extensive walking in Pompeii including climbing up and down Positano as it can delay your group. Ours did and we missed out exploring most of Amalfi scheduled as the last stop as it was already dark. Otherwise, the coastal cities are gorgeous and worth the long trip and our tour guide Lori was wonderful.
Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast are two highlights of southern Italy, but visiting by public transportation can be a hassle. Save hours with this day trip that includes round-trip transportation from Rome. Skip the train and bus and instead reach the archaeological site of Pompeii and picturesque fishing towns of Positano and Amalfi via air-conditioned van. Enjoy free time to explore all three destinations before the return trip to Rome.
Love that the tour was early enough for us to experience a not-so crowded Orvieto. I was just bummed that the tower was closed until 10:30 AM which was the time we had to leave for lunch (it was good for the most part, but the pasta was a tad too salty). Assisi was fantastic. It's such a magnificent place with so much history and significance. Eleonora was funny and informative.
Our tour guide was wonderful, very informative, knowledgeable and good sense of humor. She was very good and I recommend her for anything she is part of. I am sorry that I forgot her name. It started with S and she had reddish hair and glasses. (Sorry, we really liked you too!) OUr tour was on All Saints day, Nov. 1,2019. It was very crowded but she kept us all together and in stride. It was beautiful everywhere and so much fun! Thank you!
Trade the crowds of the Eternal City for the countryside of Umbria on this day trip from Rome to Assisi and Orvieto. With a guide, you travel by coach first to Orvieto, a hilltop town known for its Gothic masterpiece, Orvieto Cathedral. Have lunch near Lake Trasimeno, and then visit the town of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the home of St Francis of Assisi. Finish with a stop in Santa Maria degli Angeli, where you see the 9th-century basilica where St Francis once worshipped.
Venice Independent Day Trip from Rome by High-Speed Train
When visiting Rome this is a must do.
, Nov 2019
really comfortable train ride, the guide was superb, very friendly and very knowledgeable. The whole day was really well organised. Plenty of time to do your own thing as well and get something to eat. The gondolas are a bit expensive but you can't go to Venice and not have a ride in one.
There is so much I could say about the tour. The tour guide was wonderful--but he was put in a bad situation. Gray Line Tours was the operator, and there were probably about 30 or more people. with one tour guide, trying to communicate with the tour group in English, Spanish, and Italian. The tour guide was friendly and polite, but said he wasn't an official tour guide so was limited on the amount of information he could give. We were given tickets to the train, then onto a ferry from the terminal to cross over into Venice. Once in Venice, we were herded into St Marks--made a square in the building and then out. Then time to explore on your own, then herded back for a gondola ride, then free time, then ferry ride back, more free time and train ride. I think there should have been a tour guide for each language spoken, as it was unrealistic for this young man to try to communicate in three languages. He had a positive attitude and was very polite, but many of us felt bad for him. Otherwise, we did meet nice people on the tour, and we enjoyed the gondola ride and walking around in Venice. Gray Line has enough money not to be so greedy and provide appropriate resources.
It is a long day from Rome but well worth it. Our guide met us in Rome and travelled with us all the way to Venice and back. Throughout the trip she provided interesting details about Venice and told us what to expect once we arrived in Venice and the free time available. She suggested places to visit and where to eat and we returned together at the end of the day for a late arrival back in Rome.
Take this independent day trip to Venice from Rome for a chance to wander the city’s maze of alleyways, visit St Mark’s Square and float down the famous canals by water bus. You’ll travel from Rome to Venice by train, arriving in just 3.5 hours to explore the city however you wish. A skip-the-line ticket to St Mark’s Basilica and a vaporetto pass for the city’s water bus network are both included so you can make the most of your time in Venice before returning to Rome on the train.
Naples and Pompeii: Full-Day Tour from Rome with Lunch
Good .but very rushed
, Jan 2020
The tour should leave at 5am . .. not 7.30am
Very rushed through naples city. . Would of loved to seen more of the beautiful city. A great day. But not really worth the money i paid. It was rushed through a beautiful city. Should leave earlier so more time in naples. Loved the places we went. But would of loved to seen alot more of the city.
The tour was great we got to experience a snap shot of Naples and Pompei. Mara and Mirko our guides were great and informative. The shuttle bus into Naples was interesting. The lunch was great. The tourhighlight was Pompei!!!!!

My friend and I really enjoyed our trip to the Amalfi Coast. Our tour guides were very friendly and professional. Our driver was amazing as he navigated the winding roads on the coast. The only disappointment that we had was lunch. Everything else was memorable.
We had a good trip, our tour guide (Jackie) and driver were great. We had a separate guide around the Pompeii ruins, and we liked him too. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had a beautiful location and ocean view, but the food was pretty awful (and we are not very picky). The drive around Amalfi coast I felt was too long with the long drive still needed to get back to Rome, it was pretty miserable being stuck in the car for so long that evening. Overall I would recommend the tour, with those warnings.
Don't miss two of southern Italy’s UNESCO-listed destinations on this full-day trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast from Rome. Visit the fascinating ruins of Pompeii, where you can walk through an ancient city frozen in time by the AD 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Continue on to the spectacularly scenic Amalfi Coast, stopping for lunch with a view in the picturesque fishing village of Positano. Enjoy free time to explore and browse unique handmade shops in Positano and the neighboring town of Amalfi. Tour size is limited for a more personalized, small-group experience.
Florence is beautifuland filled with art and history. The tour pointed our the hot spots. The highlights of the museum was great. We didn't get to spend much time in any one place. We just tried time see as much as possible in the short amount of time we had. We loan to return and stay a few days.
We had a wonderful day visiting. Our tour guide could have been a bit more professional, it's okay to be relaxed with clients, however I felt she was on a quest for personal time while not with us. Would have been nice to have her give us more ins and outs of the region we were in.
Museum waste of time, definitely not worth the 24 euros. Having 2 languages to translate slowed down the tour. Should have taken us to see David and not the museum. Our main tour guide was great and the lunch was good. The leather factory was way too e expensive.
Travel by train from Rome to Florence on this day trip that makes it easy for you to see the highlights of one of Italy’s most popular destinations. You'll have free time in the afternoon to roam the Renaissance city on your own before heading back to Rome. Lunch at a traditional Florentine restaurant is also included.
We had a good trip from Rome to Capri. Once there, the guide seemed too busy with other tour groups to the point that before the time for lunch we had to wait for him for almost an hour. When he came and we went for lunch he said there had been a delay in the boat arrival and he had to wait for the incoming group. There was nobody else to cover for him,.
Looking for one of the best Rome day trips? Travel to Capri, an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, on this day trip with an experienced guide. Enjoy lunch in Anacapri, a hilltop village with wonderful views, and then explore the main town of Capri independently. You can also take a boat tour to Capri’s famous Blue Grotto, if you wish.

Rome in a Day: Vatican and Colosseum with Skip the Line
The Best Way to Tour
, Feb 2020
Our tour guide was awesome and very caring. I highly recommend this tour versus waiting in long lines. Lunch was great too! Definitely worth the investment and one of the best ways to truly appreciate the historical sites.
A very big day and a lot to take in and NO lines. Vatican was sensational and the lunch was very good considering the time frame the restaurant had to prepare the meals plus it was convenient to be transported to the Colosseum. Our guide Tahani was very good taking time to explain in full to all of the group. Possibly a lot for some older and less agile
It was wonderful! Guides and transportation were spot on! Not a tour for people with mobility issues. It wasn’t a problem for me but it came to mind after the many Km’s we walked and many many stairs involved. Highly recommend!
Bypass the crowds with skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. Then, visit the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill (seasonal). You'll get to see all the Roman essential attractions in a single day and traveling with a tour guide means you get to skip the long entry lines at each attraction. Your experience includes pick up and lunch at a local restaurant.
Ruins of Pompeii & Stunning Sorrento Coastline: Day Trip by High-Speed Train
Pompei and Sorrento Small Group tour
, Nov 2019
Although the weather was rainy for most of the trip, this was one of the most memorable tours I took from Rome. We were met at the main train terminal in Rome by our host, who directed us to the proper track in the busy station. He saw us onto the train safely. The train was very clean, and the ride was smooth, with lovely countryside views, and arrived on time. Our local tour guide, Vincenzio ('Enzio'), escorted us to our large bus (even though our group was very small), where we had plenty of room to stretch out. Enzio is from Naples, and related fascinating stories of the city. He turned us over to another experienced guide for the Pompei tour, which was fabulous. Without the detailed knowledge of the guide, we would not have experienced the full impact of life in Pompei before the eruption. We were then joined once again with Enzio, and got on the bus for a 45-minute drive to Sorrento, where we had lunch at a lovely restaurant overlooking the city. Enzio showed us a couple of special shops with outstanding products, including a cameo shop that had been run by the same family for 3 generations, and a delicious lemon shop with the best limoncello ever. We had over an hour of free time to browse the other shops and even dip our toes into the Mediterranean See on the beach. This is the only way to go for your Pompei tour, even though it is more expensive than most (because of the train ride, which took just over an hour - less than half as long as driving would have been). The expertise of our guides and bus driver was worth every penny.
Nicola was the best guide we could have ever imagined for our tour in Pompeii. He was born in Pompeii and has been a guide for 51 years. So knowledgeable and passionate. It was an amazing experience. Unfortunately, traffic prevented us from having much time in Sorrento, but that is something you just can't control.
In the same way that Rome wasn’t built in a day, many believe Pompeii can’t be seen in a day. Well, this isn’t true. This day trip from Rome not only takes in the ancient ruins of Pompeii, but it includes nearby Sorrento at the start of the UNESCO World Heritage Amalfi Coast. This small-group experience, with transport by high-speed train, is limited to just 15 people.
It was a beautiful day despite the showers. The Villas Adriana and d'Este were both respite from the busyness of the city. Our guide Elida was knowledgeable and amiable and took us to a delicious lunch between the places. The water features at Villa d"Este are spectacular, and I think I'll remember them more fondly than the ones at Versailles. It also surprises how the drivers maneuver through lanes with almost no clearance. Hats off to all of them and the incredibly hard-working guides.
Our guide was informative and easy to understand. The pace was excellent for all in our group. Our guide went above and beyond to see to the comfort of all on her tour. loved that this was a small group.
Travel in the footsteps of Roman emperors, cardinals, and popes who would flee the hustle and bustle of Rome for hilltop Tivoli. This guided day trip takes you back in time in Tivoli, exploring the archeological remains of 2nd-century Hadrian's Villa, with its lavish temples, sculptures, and theaters. After the lunch break, stroll around the lush gardens of the Renaissance-era Villa d'Este, marveling at the famed Fountain of Neptune.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the big city on this scenic tour of the Garden of Ninfa and Sermoneta from Rome. Relax on a short train ride as you ride on your way to the garden. Take a stroll into the garden and admire its storybook-like atmosphere with bridges, greenery, and flowers. Enjoy lunch at a local farmhouse before heading over to the town of Sermoneta.
Two couples spent our full day seeing the highlights of ROME, with a personable, smart guide who responded smoothly to our interests and adjustments along the way. Private automobile connections were efficient and saved us valuable time--crucial in Rome's crazy traffic. This was Viator's most expensive full-day, private trip, but we all feel that it was worth the cost because of the quality of the guide and the thoughtfulness of the entire experience, including a historic trattoria--Pasqualino al Colosseo--for a perfect lunch.
Our private small group WOW tour of the highlights of Rome was truly, WOW!! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and efficient. Everything went as planned with the private tour, even meeting us at the ship dock with a van! This tour so easy to arrange by phone from the USA. We got front-of-line tickets every time, passing up those long, long, lines at the Vatican and the Coliseum. This enabled us to see so much more than if we had tried to venture out on our own. I will definitely recommend Viator as an affordable, professional touring experience.
Seeing Rome in a day is a monumental task but this private, full-day tour covers it all. Visit the city’s iconic landmarks including the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Vatican City, avoiding long lines with priority access admission. Quickly get between sites with private transportation and enjoy a delicious Roman lunch as part of your package. This tour is ideal for first-time visitors who are short on time.
Small-Group Tuscany Day Trip from Rome with Hill Towns and Castles
Very pleasant journey to the country side
, Dec 2019
That’s been a pleasure to discover Toscane. We were led by a nice guide who truly loves this region and we’ve been able to meet welcoming people, discover quality products hence being able to buy directly from them was a nice opportunity. Definitely recommends to escape Rome crowd for a day. Special thanks to the driver, very good, considering traffic is not easy.
I never dipped olive oil on my bread until Tuscany!!!
, Nov 2019
Even though I don't drink I had an amazing time on the tour and my friends enjoyed my wine! I understand why bread is dipped in olive oil. Only the good stuff from now on it makes a difference! Brought several bottles back with me. Our tour guide was great and the entire tour and our tour group was great as well. We all had a ball and when several of us ran into each other in Roma we all yelled family and took another photo together!!!
Our tour guide was great. It was such a fun day starting from the pottery shop and the cheese shop that we visited. Our meal that was prepared at the farm was absolutely first class and the hosts at the farm were inviting and welcoming. The vineyard had the most delicious wine. Overall, it was one of our best days in Italy!
