The Basics

With El Yunque National Forest blooming in the background, it’s easy to see why this beautiful beach is such a draw. A fringe reef protects Luquillo Beach from raging surf, so families find it a great place to bring young kids who are often found frolicking in the calm water. Local food kiosks that dot the area are frequented for beachside eating, though locals often set up their own grills and have hearty barbecues. Beach umbrellas and lounge chairs are available for rent, as are kayaks for personal use or kayaking tours. Guided tours that include Luquillo Beach depart from Old San Juan and may combine the beach stop with visits to El Yunque, the Camuy Caves, and the bioluminescent bay.

Fun excursion trip! Our guide Luis was great, fun and accommodating! Upbeat music, clean washrooms, the waterslide, Luquillo beach, jumping off the rope into the river all are excellent!

Our guide Malcolm was exceptional. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He anticipated our needs and was very attentive to our safety while traversing the rocks at the rock slide. What a wonderful experience.

David was our tour guide! He is the best!! He went over the safety of the rainforest and the water slide so clearly and in depth!! Took us to the best shop right of the high way where you can get fresh fruit or Puerto Rican fried Delights! You spend the last leg of the trip in Los Kioskos where you can swim or eat and shop! So glad we booked this tour it was probably the best experience we had in PR! David, you’re the best!!!!

Omar was so full of energy and extremely attentive to safety in each location we visited. Everywhere we went it was busy with other tours, but he made sure we had a safe and fun time. There is not a lot of actual hiking on this trip - so it's perfect if you are looking to have some quick and fun adventures in the rainforest of Puerto Rico.

Day Tour in El Yunque Rainforest, Natural Water Slides & Luquillo Beach
I cannot say enough good things about this trip. The trail, water slides, and Luquillo beach were all so beautiful. The food next to the beach was legit Puerto Rican food, got some of the best mofongo I’ve ever had. But the best part of this trip is by far Malcolm. He was super knowledgeable about everything and just a dope person to be around. Whatever you want to get out of this trip he has something for everyone and is super go with the flow. This is a must do!!!

Day Tour in El Yunque Rainforest, Natural Water Slides & Luquillo Beach
Malcom and his daughter were very friendly. Malcom texted us the day before the tour to ensure pick up location. They were very careful and informative. when we arrive to the beach they were kind when we requested if it was okay to stay. Would very much recommend anyone to book a tour with Malcom.

My fave part of this trip was the rock water slide! Actually, any experience with water is appealing. Jumping off a 10' cliff into the river and swinging on a rope swing into the water is exhilarating. I also liked the stop at Luquillo beach for a little respite before heading back to the city. All in all, I got what I expected: a satisfying day trip, spending some time in nature and enjoying the sun, sand & surf.

David was a fantastic guide, he explained everything in detail at every point in the trip, informed us of the historical significance as we went throughout, and took our safety very seriously! My friends and I had a great time enjoying the waterslide and appreciated that there were adventurous options as well as calmer ones. Our driver was fantastic and was able to go down the smallest of roads, no sweat 😅 we had a wonderful time!!

We had a time ! Ryan aka Papi Chulo was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history and safety briefings . We went on my wife’s birthday and they sang for her and made her feel so special. Highly recommend this tour ! Bring sturdy shoes and an extra shirt ! 10/10!!!

When to Get There

Puerto Rico is generally very busy in December through February, as it’s a hot spot for those escaping the mainland United States’ frigid winters. Aim to visit in the spring, after the tourist glut and before the hot, rainy season. Luquillo Beach can get quite crowded on summer weekends, when it fills up with local families.
