First Cliff Walk Tours

Opened in 2015 in the Jungfrau region, the First Cliff Walk is a narrow, metal walkway built into the side of a cliff in the Swiss Alps, offering an incredible view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and pastures. Visitors can take a 25-minute gondola ride up to the First Cliff Walk.

With its 130-foot (40-meter) suspension bridge and 150-foot-high (45-meter) viewing platform, the Cliff Walk is not for the faint of heart. The attraction makes for a thrilling day trip from Zurich, Bern, or Lucerne and can be combined with a variety of tours and activities in the area, including zip lining, hiking, and mountain carting.

Practical Info

The best time to experience the First Cliff Walk is in the summer months, from early May to October. Grindelwald is a two-hour drive away from Zurich, or a three-hour ride by train, with a couple of changes required. From Bern and Lucerne, the site is just over an hour by car; it is two to three hours from these cities by train. The base of the gondola that takes travelers to the First Cliff Walk is about a 10-minute walk from the Grindelwald train station.
