Each year, Taiwan celebrates the first full moon of the lunar new year with the always-colorful Taiwan Lantern Festival. What was originally a simple tradition of carrying hand-held lanterns through the streets after dark has transformed into a major international event featuring high-tech lantern displays and a myriad of cultural performances staged over a two-week period.
