Walk like a Venetian

Forget the vaporettos, and just start walking. Venice is connected by pedestrian bridges going over the canals that bring you through more quaint passage ways then you would see by using the public transportation. The quieter back roads help give you a view into the quiet and beautiful Venetian life that locals live everyday. The next thing you'll know you've stumbled across a little campo or piazza with the neighborhoods old men are outside playing chess and the little "nonas" are gossiping with each other.
