Looking for things to do in Washington DC in the winter? Aside from bundling up and heading from monument to monument there’s plenty to do in DC, summer, spring, winter or fall.

Aside from New Years Eve in DC and Christmas in DC, there are a lot of things happening that make winter a special time to visit the nation’s capital. If it is still the holidays, consider, for example, heading to the National Zoo for viewing the holiday lights. Zoolights, as they call it, is open every night from now until the beginning of January and is open, for free, to the public. Thousands of beautiful lights adorn the National Zoo and there’s even a train ride for the kids.
