The 170-hectare Taman Safari Bogor park is home to more than 2,000 animals from around Indonesia and the globe, including Komodo dragons, tigers, sun bears, bison, giraffes, cheetahs, and elephants. Unlike traditional zoos, where visitors walk around and observe animals in enclosures, travelers to Taman Safari Bogor drive through the various habitats to see the animals from a different perspective.
The safari park also includes a few small rides, as well as a picnic area, two restaurants, food stalls, and a campground with bungalows for guests who wish to spend the night in the park. Although Viator tours do not include these activities, elephant rides and dolphin swims are offered on-site for an additional cost.
Bogor lies approximately 37 miles (60 km) from Jakarta. The easiest way to reach Taman Safari Bogor is via a private car, although bus routes also serve the area.
