Private Day Tour of Mountainous Banat from Timisoara
From $292.84 per group
, Sep 2019
Not fully knowing what to expect we booked with mixed feelings. There was no need to worry. Even a late change of hotel was no problem for the tour guide (Adelin) . Driving down towards the Danube we already felt as if we had a private tutor leading us and explaining the background to localities, scenery and their historical significance. Apart from the scheduled highlights we could experience much more than we ever imagined. As an example, I was able to sing Carmen on Oravita Old Theatre stage with an audience of three. The 12 hour trip was really delightful and in a pleasant company. Highly recommendable. We could not have spent the day in a better way. Mr and Mrs Jonsson, Sydney, Australia
This tours will take you around the Banat highland region. Throughout history, Banat was at the border of all the empires that spread over the region, most notably the Ottoman and Austrian Empires, which facilitated people of different nations to come in, giving it its multiculturality. The richness of the land turned it into an important industrial hub, around which urban and rural life developed. Empires came and went and the industrial period faded, but what withstood the test of time is a treasure full of natural wonders and beauty. In this tour you will see some of the industrial legacy, meet the multicultural heritage and enjoy the beauty of our natural sights.

Timisoara might not have the famous Jewish attractions of Josefov quarter in Prague, but for sure is equal generous with its Jewish-related life-stories and historical events. Moreover, brilliant natives of Jewish ethnicity changed for the better Timisoara and surrounding region. Alongside the impressive synagogues, a large number of Timisoara’s valuable buildings were either financed or designed by Jewish townsmen.
All of these above mentioned are parts of the Jewish heritage of Timisoara, and we are inviting you to discover it!
Definitely something we can recommend. We visited Timisoara for the first time, but the way the guide (Ludovic) explained both historically and humorously just about every building and every street and every interesting detail made us feel as if we were already long-time residents. His observations were sometimes really surprisingly good. We would never have got this background of the city without the tour. After the tour was over he even recommended additional experiences for us to ensure that our stay would be memorable. We thank you ! Mr and Mrs Jonsson, Sydney, Australia.
