This day trip was fantastic. We saw a lot of amazing and beautiful sites and our tour guide JJ was fantastic! His knowledge of The dales and Yorkshire was spot on and couldn’t ask for really anything more. The only thing if I was going to give constructive criticism would have been to simply been able to just wonder around to experience the natural beauty more of the dales. But It was overall fantastic.
Without a hire car, it’s impossible to round up the sights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in a day from York. This small-group tour delivers: with a minivan drive through Swaledale and Wensleydale, stone-walled hills, winding passes, and villages. See Jervaulx Abbey, waterfalls, and market towns, break for lunch (own expense), and get a full rundown on the area from a guide—something you’d miss if going alone.
I would rate this tour 3-4 star. We had a very short time to explore Whitby. Besides everything about both tours was first class. The Mini Cabs were very comfortable, drivers very polite and helpful. Pick up and times
were very punctual.
May I tell you that this was not my first time that I booked a tour with Viator when abroad, and every time I am more than satisfied. In fact when I travel I look for Viator tours first before booking an excursion.
We were lucky enough to have a lovely comfortable minibus for just six of us on a lovely bright December day. Trevor was friendly and a well informed guide, he told us lots of interesting info about the beautiful areas we visited and made some interesting photo stops. I would have liked longer in Whitby but we did manage to squeeze a lot in to one day, we definitely felt like we'd had a solid taster of what the Moors has to offer!
Escape the city for the wild landscapes of the Yorkshire moors on this full-day tour from York. Set out on a scenic drive through the North York Moors National Park; visit sites from the 'Harry Potter' movies in Goathland like the location used for Hogsmeade station in the first film. Enjoy free time to explore the seaside town of Whitby, where you can learn the legacy of Dracula and try the town’s famous fish and chips (own expense), before visiting the market town of Helmsley.
The one day trip to Whitby through the Yorkshire moors was just perfect. Our tour guide Mark made it a great day. He took us to unknown overlooks for brilliant pictures, had so much information about everything we passed and explained all that in a slow and understandable way so it was easy to understand even if you were from a foreign country. It was a nice and small group, well organised. I can really recommend that trip!
I really enjoyed this trip. Our driver and guide, Mark, was great. During the entire drive, he provided information and history about the area. We had plenty of photo stops to capture the beautiful scenery. In Whitby, we were provided with a variety of options as to how to spend our time and very clear information so that we didn't waste any time there and were able to do and see things that were important to us. Took the steam train back, and then we had a few more stops for ice cream and scenery. Very nice trip, would highly recommend it. I'd been wanting to see the abbey in Whitby for a while, so this was much easier - and a lot more fun - than attempting to get there on my own.

Steam Trains, Whitby, and the North York Moors Full-Day Tour from York
A day of Yorkshire
, Oct 2019
Great day out .got to see many parts of Yorkshire .with the highlight being the moors and a ride on a steam train .peter the guide was top draw explaining the whole day and telling us the times and places we had to be to pick up the mini bus .lovely day out cheers Pete
For Californians, this was a great way to experience the best of the North York Moors in early August. Wish we could remember the name of the young man who guided us through the moors, even jumping out of the van to show us how quick and low flying the grouse are presenting a challenge for the shooters who would be stalking them during the next weeks. He was extremely knowledgable and friendly even adding one last stop at St. Peter and St. Paul in Pickering, home of the famous medieval frescoes! We had picture perfect weather for walking the grounds of the beautiful remains of Whitby Abbey on the North Sea as well as a stroll through the colorful town of Whitby. The steam train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors RR gave us a view of a wooded section of the moor. It was a grand day!
We had a great day despite the rain, we all got dropped off at the Abbey then walked down the 199 steps into the town. Had fish and chips gluten free for lunch so good to be able to do, so thank you Magpie Cafe. Then we went to Goathland for our steam train trip. Along the way to Whitby we went through the moors and learnt about them , and through quaint villages . Great knowledgeable guide. Fun day

Our tour was operated by Grand Yorkshire Limited and we could not have had a better experience during our time in York. Our guide for our walking tour, Matt, was extremely friendly and knowledgable – my wife and I learned so much! He also gave us great recommendations to explore the city at our leisure and dining options as well. After lunch, our day continued with Peter, who drove us through Yorkshire making great stops in the countryside on our way to Whitby. Like Matt, Peter was just as friendly and knowledgeable about the history of York, Yorkshire, Whitby, and every stop between. We made many stops for photos along the way and to stretch our legs with a walk in the Moors. Thank you both so much for making our time in York so wonderful, I highly recommend this tour.
Great walking tour and Van Tour
A lot of great information on the walking tour and the trip to the moors and coastal cities
