After a bad experience in in Stockholm last year my expectations were a bit tempered. I was very pleased with the service in York. It is a nice one hour circuit. They had four coaches on the road, so a 15 minute wait was certainly acceptable. One of the coaches had a live tour guide, the others you could use the audio system. Pleasant drivers and a reliable service. With these types of services one can't ask for more than that. Recommend it to visitors. York is an awesome city and a must see. Only a two hour trip on the excellent Central Line train from Kings Cross in London.

A Fatal Feud - An Immersive Treasure Hunt-style Murder Mystery - The Secret City
From $16.06 (Price varies by group size )
A walk enhanced in York
, Jan 2020
This murder mystery was very well organised and a perfect way to spend our first morning in a new city. It provided interest; made us really look at our surroundings; gave us insight into the history and recognised we were on holiday so needed time to chat (which we did, between clues) and relax (which we did in each of the pubs highlighted along the way). We found the first and last clues frustratingly ambiguous but the other seventeen were amusing and manageable. We were lucky with the weather - if it had been rainy we might have abandoned it! We were doing it for fun but the competitive element would appeal I think to some participants.
Immerse yourself in historic sights and obscure quirks as you solve riddles and progress on your treasure hunt-style adventure. Once your tale starts you’ll unravel cryptic clues to unlock the hidden path to a location within walking distance. Decode the clue and search nearby to find the answer. All on your mobile phone using Telegram available on all app stores (like Whatsapp!).

We took an hour tour early evening. Such an informative excursion. Well enjoyed.

This tour exceeded all expectations. John led us through the history of the British Isles through York’s history. He brought history alive with knowledge and humor, especially York under the Romans and Vikings. We literally saw layers of York history from the ground up as each successive culture built on their predecessors. We recreated Viking shield battles, walked the walls and discussed how history has influenced the politics of the present day. I highly recommend our tour guide John. Ask him about the video game about York that he is working on! There was no place to choose the type of our visit so I will state here that we are a family of three with a 20 something post college son who was a history major.
We loved him. We were exhausted and he walked us around with such energy and personality that we were energized. He was easy to work with and flexible as our train was late and he allowed us to start later.
He was knowledgeable, sweet and excited to impart his vast depth of history to us! Do it...he’s great!

My wife and I typically enjoy walking tours, but often wish we could stop at some interesting little shop we see along the way, perhaps sit at a cafe for a drink, or linger a bit at a particular point of interest. The other alternative being to return after the tour, which we seldom wind up doing. This was the perfect alternative. The audio guide was very well done, and with only a few minor glitches (requiring a couple of restarts) worked as advertised. It took us 2 days to complete what should have been a 1-2 hour tour, and in our minds it was perfect. On the first day we decided to go in to Yorkminster while we were there, tour the cathedral, and even climb the tower. It was great. Later on the route we stopped for coffee, then wound up in a great little clothing boutique which was having a sale. At about half way through the tour, we decided to have a late lunch and drinks. Didn’t feel like carrying on after that, so we simply resumed the tour on the next day, right where we left off; completely on our schedule, inconveniencing no one, and thoroughly enjoying the experience.

A day of Yorkshire
, Oct 2019
Great day out .got to see many parts of Yorkshire .with the highlight being the moors and a ride on a steam train .peter the guide was top draw explaining the whole day and telling us the times and places we had to be to pick up the mini bus .lovely day out cheers Pete
For Californians, this was a great way to experience the best of the North York Moors in early August. Wish we could remember the name of the young man who guided us through the moors, even jumping out of the van to show us how quick and low flying the grouse are presenting a challenge for the shooters who would be stalking them during the next weeks. He was extremely knowledgable and friendly even adding one last stop at St. Peter and St. Paul in Pickering, home of the famous medieval frescoes! We had picture perfect weather for walking the grounds of the beautiful remains of Whitby Abbey on the North Sea as well as a stroll through the colorful town of Whitby. The steam train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors RR gave us a view of a wooded section of the moor. It was a grand day!
We had a great day despite the rain, we all got dropped off at the Abbey then walked down the 199 steps into the town. Had fish and chips gluten free for lunch so good to be able to do, so thank you Magpie Cafe. Then we went to Goathland for our steam train trip. Along the way to Whitby we went through the moors and learnt about them , and through quaint villages . Great knowledgeable guide. Fun day

Driver was very knowledgeable. Convinced we saw the best of the places we were taken too and loved hearing the history for the places we stopped. Stops were well placed and we were provided adequate time at each. Knarsborough was a bonus and beautiful.
