Andy our tour guide gave us an introduction to Edinburgh, we thoroughly enjoyed his stories and all his knowledge. I had my First Scottish Beer at the Rose Leaf in Leith. Andy also gave me a Wee Dram out of a Scottish cup called a Quaich, Andy actually cost me money as my wife insisted on buying one for our home in South Africa. I can recommend Andy for anyone who wants a personalized tour of Edinburgh. PS: Andy, How was your wife's birthday? Did she enjoy the restaurant that you took her to celebrate at?
This tour should rate among the top 10 things to do in Ediburgh. Yes, the castle is an awesome place. Yes, the Royal Mile is great. St. Giles is a must-see. But spending a half day with Andrew ought not to be missed. We saw places we wouldn't have known to visit. We only had three days to see Edinburgh before returning to London for our anniversary trip. Touring with Mini Mack Tours was perhaps our best choice of the trip.
Top tier excursion. These two brothers Rowan and Andy operate Mini Mack w/their Mini's. Absolutely most enjoyable excursion we took while on our British Isles cruise. Andy was like our being with a family member. Great educational commentary on Edinburgh as we drove/stopped. Took us places obviously that a bus certainly would never go! Quaint, out of the way places and surely quicker...and FUN! Flexible/asked if we had any definitive want-to-see stops and topped off by a lunch at a local Pub which was soooo good/great experience. We're not tiny people but the tiny car was terrific! Must do when in Edinburgh!
Our driver Rowan was GREAT! Full of interesting information and history, he is funny, polite, able to adapt to what ever you are interested in seeing. Got a great feel for the city, and lunch at the end in a cool local pub was great. I would absolutely recommend him and this tour to anyone! His car Red Rocket is the cutest mini ever and very comfortable to ride in, even for me in the back seat. Great for driving around the streets of Edinburgh.
The Mini Mack tour is the very best way to acclimate and acquaint yourself with Edinburgh, especially if you have a limited time in the city. This tour was superb.
Our local and knowledgable guide, Andy picked us at our hotel and then zipped us around to some major attractions that are a must see, he also introduced us to a hidden jewel of an herbal garden in a lovely park just steps from an old 14th century pub, the Sheep Heid Inn, where the Queen had popped into on a recent trip.
If we were on foot for the day we would never have been able to access as many wonderful sights or know the local lore. Andy was very affable and easily answered our questions and was open to our interests.
We finished our tour with lovely a bite to eat in a local pub with a varied menu.
We would highly recommend this tour, owned and operated by locals, conveying anicdotes only a local can convey, whilst tooling around in a peppy Mini Cooper! Thank you Andy!
If I could give this tour six stars, I would! Andy was our tour guide. He's lived in Edinburgh all his life and knows the history and the sites inside out. Apparently Andy and his brother run this company, each having a mini Cooper to give their private tours. He showed every attention to detail, including having umbrellas in case we needed them.
It was a half-day morning tour but actually went until about 2 PM. He was waiting for us 10 minutes before the scheduled start time, adding a little polishing touches to his car. The mini Cooper although compact had great visibility for my wife and me. The vehicle was spotless, inside and out.
His knowledge of the city and its history was evident throughout the tour. He took us to areas that we would not have gone on foot, like high up on hills which gave 360 views of Edinburgh.
He also brought us to a couple of small towns which had some fascinating history. My wife told him that she was a gardener and so he took us to this pretty much unknown secret garden , just outside the city. It was spectacular and something that you would never ever see on an organized tour. We felt like the tour was customized just for us.
We finished the tour with a complementary lunch, at the Roseleaf Pub in Leith, which was excellent,
The next time we go to Edinburgh, we will be sure to take one or two additional tours with Andy.
