The good, the bad and the ugly:

The good:

Tour Guides were great: We had 2 different tour guides, one for Days 1 and 2 and one for Days 3 and 4. Both tour guides really took great care of us. They were knowledgable and friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us if needed.

Hotel in Kandy: Awesome hotel, great breakfast, wonderful location.

Tour itself: The tour activities were good. Be advised the National Park has a 9km walk. It was fine and isn't that hard, but we weren't given any notice about that. Aside from that, all of the tour activities were fun and not too long or too short just right. One of the things we enjoyed the most though was the free time to roam around the towns. The train, while spectacular views wasn't all that amazing. It was fine. Again, there wasn't a single activity that was bad, the tea plantation one was short, but that's fine. Actually enjoyed them all.

The Bad:

Finding the train- The tour company had faxed my train tickets to my hotel ahead of time, so I didn't have any issues with that as another reviewer did and someone else on my tour did, although I was staying at a big hotel in Colombo, if you're staying at a guest house or something your results may be different. So I got to the train station and you're on your own to navigate how to exchange the e-ticket for the actual train ticket, where to go to accomplish that and where to go from there. It was very complicated and confusing, thankfully some strangers helped me.

Transfer from Train- At the conclusion of the tour, no one was at the train station to meet me. The company just uses Uber to arrange the rides to/from the hotels so I'm not sure if I didn't see them or they couldn't find me, regardless, I didn't have a ride. Thankfully someone else on the tour had their ride show up and allowed me to tag along, and the driver stopped at my hotel.

The UGLY:

Hotel in Nuwara Eliya- This is where you stay for the last 2 days of the tour, when you do the Horton Plains National Park and the tea plantation. The hotel is VERY secluded, it's a guest house with only a couple of rooms. It's cold, they have no food, it's lacking in even some of the most basic amenities and just very odd. I would recommend the tour company choose one of the many hotels closer to town, so we can explore town more or go out to restaurants. Thankfully again, I made friends with others on the tour and we made the best of our time at this guest house, but even so, it was extremely boring and felt like something out of a movie in how odd it was.

Overall:

Not a terrible experience, but not a memorable one either, just okay. The tour guides were really awesome, but the hotel in Nuwara Eliya and the confusion with the train tickets left me with a sour taste in my mouth. If the tour company chooses a different hotel for that portion of the tour, I'd highly recommend but as of right now, it's just okay.

Generally this was not a positive experience. The good points were the Hotel in Kandy and the walk through the national park. Be prepared for minimum 5 to 9 km
The train booking advised was not that provided. 9 Hours before the trip started we found out by accident that the train departed at 7 am and not 9 am. We were left to work out how to exchange vouchers or train tickets and find our train.
Arriving at Kandy we were dropped at the hotel to check in at 10am. Of course this was not possible and the tour guide just left and said he would pick us up later. He could have rearranged the tour to match but seemed to have other things to do. The Kandy hotel was excellent, right in the middle of town allowing us to explore at leisure.
On the second night of this trip we were dumped in a Hotel several kilometers from town. The hotel had no bar and the restaurant consisted of a menu that had to be ordered at least an hour in advance as the food was delivered COLD from the local town in a TukTuk. This was an extremely poor choice of hotel and ruined much of the trip for us. Their packed breakfast included neatly cut sandwiches without any form of filling - i.e. plain bread.
On arrival back in Colombo, despite a phone call while we were on the train to confirm pick up for transfer, there was no one to transfer us to our hotel - we had to pay for this.
This was the most poorly organised tour we have taken and I cannot recommend it.

You would be better organising the tour yourself.

This tour was excellent, we were very well looked after by each driver that collected us from each place. The train ride through the hill country was beautiful. Would highly recommend. Each b and b was excellent.
