Diese Tour führt Sie abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade. Es ist wirklich das, was die Einheimischen essen. Wenn Sie von verschiedenen Arten von Lebensmitteln verrückt werden, ist dies möglicherweise nicht die richtige Tour für Sie. Aber wenn Sie offen für verschiedene Geschmäcker und Texturen sind, ist dies eine gute Tour. Und Sie werden definitiv keinen Hunger haben, wenn es fertig ist. Der Reiseleiter hat viele gute Informationen über Hawaii. Es war eine gute Option für unseren ersten Tag nach einer langen Reise, um hierher zu kommen.

Tolle halbtägige Erfahrung, die von einem Guide geleitet wird, der nicht nur ein Alleskönner, sondern auch ein Chefkoch ist. Er hat die Tour aufgrund von Geschäftsbeziehungen mit lokalen Händlern ins Leben gerufen und sie scheinen ihn liebevoll zu behandeln. Schmeckte alles von rasiertem Eis und Craft Beer bis zu Sashimi und Fisch-Tacos (der Fisch war Opakapaka, ein lokaler Pink Snapper). Der Führer ist sehr talentiert und unternehmungslustig; Dies ist die einzige Food-Tour, die Sie auf Maui finden. Sie ist nur am Mittwochmorgen verfügbar, da dies die einzige freie Zeit ist, die der Guide während einer Woche von sieben Tagen hat. Vorsichtsmaßnahmen: Es gibt nicht viele Toilettenstopps. Wenn Sie also ein Blasenproblem haben, stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie mindestens eine Stunde lang gut sind, bevor Sie in einen Van steigen! Tolle Aktivität!

Take This Tour!

This is a fairly recent tour for the island. Our driver Darrin picked us up at our hotel and we were off! We went to local cafes, markets, and out of the way spots to try food that you will not find on your own or as part of another tour. Be aware, these are not fancy places. Instead, these are places that locals like to go. At one stop, we ate fantastic and fresh fish that we got from an unassuming liquor store, and we ate it in the van! It was great! The food is served family style in all of the places, and we were stuffed by the time it was over. Darrin the guide was a great host, and he made sure our needs were all taken care of. This was a completely different tour than anything else we had done. Time well spent!

I thought Maui foods, like Taro potato or food cook with leaves in the ground or more traditional foods but,ramen,supamusubi,shave ice??

We're sorry to hear you had different ideas about this tour. We believe we described this tour very thorough. Obviously, you're not aware that Hawaii is heavily influenced by Asian culture since Asians arrived in the mid-to-late 19th century and they're a huge part of Hawaii community until today. Of course, Hawaiian food and culture have been influenced by Asian immigrants as well. This tour is about "what and where locals eat" so we shared with you the local experience as is described.

Our guide/driver for the tour, Darrin, was a local, born and raised on the island, who knew where the best non-tourist trap places are to get samples of the local food. He was punctual, high energy, friendly, told interesting stories. A couple of the stops were not even restaurants, but markets off the beaten path. We were served full meals to share for breakfast and lunch, and the subsequent stops we received tasting samples of lots of different foods. We have been to Maui three times now, and some of these foods we'd never encountered before. It is a great way to learn about island culture. And yes, bring an appetite - don't eat breakfast before you go. The only thing that I didn't appreciate was being told by the person who called to confirm us said if we weren't at our pick-up location by the designated time we would be left behind. This made me very anxious, as it's a lot of money and sometimes things happen that can't be helped. And it turned out, causing us to worry about being a few minutes late was not necessary. Our guide was certainly accommodating and flexible; called us that morning to see how we were doing on arriving at the pick up location, and scheduled his pick-up of the other guests accordingly.
