As highly introverted people, my hubby and I were skeptical of how much fun we could have with 20,000 people crammed into the streets of a small town. Leading up to the trip, we were getting more and more anxious and nearly backed out of participating. But wow - we are both so happy we did this. This once a year festival is something we've known about for years and when our trip to Spain coincided with La Tomatina, I jumped on the chance to do it. As mentioned, I'm glad we did. The 90 minutes leading up to the start of the festival are hot, sweaty, with people everywhere, but once things get underway, the atmosphere is amazing! The locals of Bunol join in from their balconies and everyone is happy, pleasant, and looks out for each other. In just our tiny section of the festival, we met people from India, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, Portugal, China, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and others from the USA. It's a beautifully diverse and fun experience. Our guide, Jorge, was amazing and helpful. 15/10 - DEFINITELY DO THIS
