Plaza Mariana Pineda 10, Granada, Spain

The Basics

With its whitewashed buildings and deep-gardened mansions spilling down the hill, the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Albaicín ranks among Granada’s most picturesque neighborhoods. Most city tours will pass through, but it’s worth taking a walking tour to soak up the views and learn more about the area’s history, culture, and folklore. Some tours also include a walk through Sacromonte, the gypsy quarter known for its ties to flamenco.

Excellent tour. Guide first language...
Excellent tour. Guide first language was French but spoke clear English. She explained a lot. We went back to the Alhambra after the Albaicin tour and just wandered around. It is a lot of walking and the Albaicin area is uphill. Our guide explained to some folks how to use bus to get up there but they chose to walk albeit very slowly.

Sacromonte and Albaicin Monumental Segway Tour in Granada
Wonderful trip. Save the time and book this trip and so you don’t have to walk up hills and deal with the heat. George is super knowledgeable about the city and takes pictures for you and even gives restaurant recommendations! Would do another tour with him if we came back to Granada

Granada Walking Tour Including Alhambra, Albaicin and Sacromonte
Wonderfully knowledgeable guide and a very thorough tour. The Alhambra was beautiful and not crowded at this time of the year. Older people might need a bit of stamina to complete this tour.

Granada Walking Tour Including Alhambra, Albaicin and Sacromonte
We only did the Alambra part of the tour. It was 3 hours of walking and the rest of the tour was supposed to be after a couple hours of rest. We were in a place where we could have walked to our next meeting point but were to tired to so we stayed in. The Alahambra part was AMAZING! We had a wonderful tour guide, named Anna. She was so informative and a passionate speaker- obviously loving her job. A true pleasure to be with her.

Granada Combo: Albaicin and Sacromonte Walking Tour and Hop-On Hop-Off Train
This was a very interesting tour and the tour guide was very good, however you need to be in reasonable physical condition to do it -- lots of walking uphill but very much worth it!

Granada Combo: Albaicin and Sacromonte Walking Tour and Hop-On Hop-Off Train
Well, I was pleasantly surprised. We turned up and we were, luckily, the only couple. The Guide Irena was very, very nice and fun to walk around with. It was a most enjoyable evening tour. The only drawback for me was I was worn out by the time we were finished. I guess that what is like when you reach 74yrs. I sure needed my glass of beer after that. Thanks Irena.

Granada Segway Tour to Albaicin and Sacromonte
Best way to see Granada and get a good look at the major monuments. Our guide was very kind and always making sure we were safe in the area. Kids that don't enjoy walking will love this, they can see the sights and have fun doing it! Thank you Javier for your help!

Granada Segway Tour to Albaicin and Sacromonte
We had a big team that day, aging from 10's to 50s. Javier and his team got everybody taken good care of. Javier was a funny guy interacted nicely with all kinds of ppl we run by during our segway trip. His team members were also caring, very open to chat. My friend and I had so much fun, and it's really a good way to check around Granada. I highly recommend this. Family, let's go!

Gold Doubloon: Alhambra Palace and Albaicin Private Tour
I dont write reviews, ever, but really wanted to write a note of commendation for this Nhue guide service on Viator. The Alhambra speaks for itself, but more importantly, this is the guide service to use. I actually tried booking through a different, cheaper service first, but they did not follow up to phone calls or emails before my trip, which made me nervous. So I switched to this service, even though it was more expensive, and it was WORTH IT. Nhue guide service emailed me multiple times and called with WhatsApp to provide very specific instructions where to meet, what time. Our guide was AMAZING. Highly informed and educated, took a lot of time with us, no rush, lots of photos. Also shared with us things about daily life in Spain, personal stories, and a real view not just into history but modern times as well. It may seem expensive, but the Alhambra is difficult to get tickets and a book or audioguide does not do it justice, and a large group tour is no fun. If you invest in one special thing for your trip to Spain, get this private guide service for your trip to Granada.

Things to Know Before You Go

The views of the Alhambra from Albaicín are a must-see for first-time visitors.

Don’t forget to bring your camera to take photos of this picturesque neighborhood.

Wear comfortable shoes with thick soles; many alleys are cobbled.

How to Get There

The best way to explore the Albaicín is on foot, and the Plaza Santa Ana makes a good starting point. The area has practically no parking, so it’s best to either hire a taxi or catch Buses 31 or 32, which both take a circular route around the neighborhood, from Plaza Nueva.

A Slice of Morocco in Spain

Walk the narrow, sloped streets of Calderería Nueva and Calderería Vieja, and you might feel like you’ve stepped into Northern Africa. The two streets are lined with shops, teahouses, and restaurants selling trinkets and mint tea.
